Another record-breaking year for Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport in terms of passenger numbers. More than 4.3 million passengers traveled through SRQ in 2023.

Despite a significant surge in air travel, AeroCloud’s recent survey of airport leaders has revealed that 48% of U.S. airports face financial uncertainties, and that federal funding does not fill the gap.

To address the shortfall, airports are looking to four key areas to improve revenue: attracting new airlines, enhancing the passenger experience by delivering seamless journeys, shorter queuing time and self-service options, boosting non-aeronautical passenger spending at the terminal, and upgrading technology and data to help manage operations. Their discussion looks at some of the challenges that these entail.
