Posted on October 20, 2024 by burnageoffice I was Keane to visit Calum and Lynsey Burrell and what better time to do so than when they happened to be down as run directors on the weekend I was down in Manchester to attend a Keane concert. Well done to everyone who got to Burnage parkrun event 555 today.
We had 201 having their barcodes scanned, including 8 first timers to parkrun.
We will have a Run Report from Claire Wynarczyk to look forward to, who was visiting us from Tyneside.
Thanks again to all of our volunteers.

A couple of things for folk to be wary of today. First of all a chunk of the car park has some excess water. Some may need to park on the industrial estate today. Please be considerate if parking there.
Also, on course, we have lots of puddles today, especially through the wooded section. So please be mindful of these.
There is still some drizzle in the air.
Look forward to seeing you later.

Co-Run Directors 19th October
We have a full roster for our parkrun tomorrow. We have an enormous amount of gratitude to everyone who is helping out tomorrow - thank you volunteers.
It looks like we have a relatively dry one, albeit maybe a bit misty in the morning.
We have one or 2 celebrations for some of our tourist folk, so we'll have a warm welcome for you all.
Looking forward to seeing you all
Team Burnage
We are still short by a few people to volunteer on
// Edit: roster spaces now taken //
Many thanks to everyone who is down to help on Saturday
We are looking forward to welcoming you all on Saturday

We finally have the fantastic photos from last week's event number 554, taken by our fabulous volunteer, Harvey. Special thanks to Harvey's mum, Caroline, who reduced the number from over 1000 down to 360, otherwise we'd still be looking at them all after this week's run! The problem was that you all looked amazing so it's hard not to capture every second of parkrun positivity, whether you were volunteering or notching up another 5k. Enjoy the photos. We've published the first 75 but you can access all 360 through this Dropbox link. Just click open in browser or app. No need to sign up to view.

When I wake up well I know we're going to need,
We're going to need some folk at the Finish Funnel
When we go out, well we know we're going to be, we'll be the team with all the pink hi-viz
With the marshals, then we know we're going to be, we'll be the voluncheeriest people on the course.
But what we do need, is another timer, another person on the car park, and then some more scanners
By order of The Proclaimers, if you can help on Saturday, then please get in touch.. for

This weekend we go one better than a 20th Anniversary, an event that deserves much more fuss.
It's our wonderful Lindsey Farrelly's 300th parkrun. Not sure where she finds the time to get these runs with all her volunteering and ambassadoring.
Come along and cheer her on!
A massive THANK YOU to all of our volunteers who filled our roster by Tuesday, making my life so much easier and stress free.
See you all Saturday and Don't Forget Your Barcode!
The 20th anniversary of parkrun!!! 🥳
Burnage parkrun Event number 553
5th October 2024

A warm welcome to Aaron McCarthy, Minou Oostveen and Mike O'Neill who all completed their first ever parkruns on this, the 20th anniversary since the very first parkrun which took place on the 2nd October 2004 in Bushy Park.
Well done to all the people celebrating milestones of their own today.
Blake Edwards ran his 10th parkrun and also achieved a PB in the process. Great work Blake!
Ross Coulston completed his 25th
Zohleth Lowe ran her 100th
Kim Jenkinson ran her 200th
Aeronwy Craig ran her staggering 600th!
(Thanks for the chocolates, biscuits and cake)
Of course, we wouldn't have a parkrun if it wasn't for this week's fabulous 29 hi-vis heroes. Thank you to the lovely people who gave up their time so that we could walk, jog and run today:
Susan TOWEY • Rob CAWLEY • Anthea MOAT • Toni SLATER • John O'DONNELL • Diana POWELL • Jane CLARKE • Victoria Anne POWELL • Calum BURRELL • Mel JOHNSON • Lynsey BURRELL • Lindsey FARRELLY • Gareth AMOS • Laura PARKIN • Jacqueline PANTELI • Lawrie GLOSTER • John HUMPHREYS • Simon BRADSHAW • Mia PROCTER-AMOS • Joanna GREAVES • Dillon BLACKHURST • Alison LEVER • Engku FAZUAN • Mark LUCKHAM • Eva CRAIG • Colin LEWRY • Benjamin MASIDLOVER • Anna COLEMAN • Ben WADSWORTH

Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Burnage parkrun Results Page.
Burnage parkrun started on 21st July 2012. Since then 11,684 participants have completed 66,729 parkruns covering a total distance of 333,645 km, including 9,449 new Personal Bests. A total of 1,137 individuals have volunteered 9,743 times.
We have just enough volunteers to go ahead tomorrow. Thank you to everyone on this week's roster. Without you, parkrun wouldn't happen!
If you're travelling down on the small path from Green Pastures that leads to the turn for the woods and carpark entrance, please be aware that there is a tree down which is completely blocking the path. This is not part of our course so our event can still go ahead as planned.
Don't forget, it's 20 years since parkrun first took place so we'll definitely be celebrating! It's also Aeronwy's awesome 600th parkrun. So meet us by the river for your weekly dose of parkrun positivity - don't forget your barcode!
We could do with 3 more marshals for tomorrow. Please email [email protected] if you're available to help 🦺🦺🦺
🦺 Marshals needed! 🦺
If you're available to volunteer please email [email protected] or reply to this post
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! 🥳🥳🥳
It's officially 20 years since the first parkrun took place. 🎉🎉🎉
Currently, we still need volunteers if we want to hold a celebratory run at Burnage this week. We need several marshals and another barcode scanner. It would also be nice to have a run report writer and maybe a photographer to mark this momentous occasion.
If you're available to help, please email [email protected]
We'll have the latest parkrun magazines and Burnage regular Aeronwy will be running her 600th parkrun too. So come down and help us celebrate this Saturday.
Here's hoping the fallen tree on our course doesn't stop us celebrating parkrun's 20th Birthday this weekend! The parkrun magazines have just arrived so we want to be able to give them out too!

This week marks the 2️⃣0️⃣th anniversary of parkrun 🏃🏽♀️🏃🏽🌳🌳🎉🎉
parkrun started on the 2️⃣nd of October in 2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣4️⃣ when 1️⃣3️⃣ runners and 5️⃣ volunteers got together on a blustery day in Bushy Park, Teddington, UK. We're now an international family of over 9️⃣,0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣,0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ parkrunners (and counting).
Please join us this week at Burnage parkrun as we celebrate this momentous occasion. As an added bonus, Burnage regular Aeronwy Craig will be running her 6️⃣0️⃣0️⃣th parkrun! Aeronwy's first parkrun was way back in April 2️⃣0️⃣0️⃣9️⃣. Since then she has volunteered 7️⃣9️⃣ times and attended 3️⃣7️⃣ different locations. Keen to get a great view of her running this week, we already have her mum, Susan, and daughter, Eva, on the roster as volunteers. However, we still have plenty of volunteering opportunities available. If you'd like to help make the magic happen this week, please email [email protected] or reply to this post.
Thanks as always to those of you that have already come forward to help. parkrun doesn't happen without our amazing hi-vis heroes 🦺🧡🩷💜🦺
Beautiful morning but you may need your gloves 🥶
We have volunteers, a new start sign and a replacement flag so we’re all set for tomorrow! Thanks to everyone who responded to our volunteer appeals this week 💜
Just two more essential roles to fill for tomorrow - we need two marshals to cover the car park. Can you help?
The good news - our new signage is being printed and will be with us soon so we will have a shiny new 'start' sign and a replacement flag.
The bad news - we've not had enough people come forward to volunteer for Saturday yet so we still have lots of roles to fill. We need:
5 x marshals (including 2 for the car park)
2 x barcode scanners (could be speedy runners)
1 x token giver
1 x timekeeper
