Hi, All.

Today I’ve made a few decisions about my social media platforms; nudged by those close to me, I will admit.

With immediate effect, I am no longer going to be posting regularly about Elsie’s Vintage on this site.

I have another Facebook site and an Instagram site (as well as private accounts) and it’s all getting a bit too much posting on them all. I am, therefore, slimming down my platforms.

I figure that if you are interested in my little vintage business you will follow me over on for Instagram or on Facebook at Elsie’s Vintage.

I am grateful for your support and the purchases you have made over the years. Please follow me on one of my other accounts, if you would like.

Thanks for listening to all my wittering and I hope to see you on one of my other accounts .

My lovely friend, , sent me these fabulous sunflowers to say ‘thank you for a fabulous holiday’!

Like it was a tough call; reading, eating, relaxing, sunbathing, swimming, people watching…….

Oh, to do it all again …… soon! 🏖️✈️☀️

The other great thing……. They came in a massive box! 🤣x

Well, the rain put the mockers on my visit to the field this morning! Completely waterlogged and unsuitable for treasure hunting.

Resorted to a car park locally in the hope there’s something for you!

Have a look at 6pm tonight at my ‘thrown together’ set and find out what I’ve collected since I’ve been back from holiday. I did have another little shopping expedition earlier in the week!

Have a restful Sunday! 🌼

And other news! Elsie’s Shack!

The antique stained glass windows are in! The doors and frame are painted. One set of the large windows at the side of the shack are in!

More painting to be done and the big window at the rear to be fitted but it’s getting there.

Did have a false start as I had initially chosen Farrow and Ball ‘Drainpipe’ for the frames, but it wasn’t dark enough. Back to the paint people and went with ‘Railings’ instead. Much better!

Wasn’t sure about the pink door at first, but with the darker grey I now approve! F&B ‘Rangwali’.

We (the gorgeous husband) is going to paint the floorboards in the pink and then white over the top. We figure as it gets scratched and worn the pink will peep through. That’s the idea anyway!

On the hunt for storage furniture now as realised I only have one set of large drawers to go in. That’s the fun but though. My lovely old rocking chair will be perfect and just wait until you meet Hilda who will greet you and has been waiting patiently in my porch for two years!

The used old coffee bean sacks have arrived and we will be playing with them to make a ceiling!

Im actually starting to think this all might get finished! 🌸

I adore the shape of this rare, antique Wileman and Co Foley (pre Shelley) bowl.

The patchwork design, number R92158, is so interesting. The Alexandra shape number is 60650. Fully stamped on the base.

There are floral patterns inside what they call a ‘slops’ bowl. I’m not keen on that name for something so elegant though!

A rare piece in excellent condition. In all my research I was not able to find one the same. Dated c1888.

I’ve not put it on the website yet so you have first dibs! Message me here to buy. Happy to post. Uk only.

Rare Antique Wileman Foley (pre Shelley) Bowl. £28.

A gorgeous array of colour, fragrance and the beauty of florals today.

It’s good to be back and joining in with you all; I hope you’ve enjoyed it too.

Have there been some sales, have you made new friends?

Back again next Friday with the flowers and on Wednesday with I’m thinking of a theme and it will be announced at 7pm on Sunday, as usual.

See you on Sunday at 6pm with my ‘thrown together’ set; providing I’ve managed to find some treasure!

Happy weekend! 🌸🌼🌹

Another gorgeous little blue and white pot!

From c1920 this Abbey 1790 preserve pot from George Jones would originally have had a lid.

Would make a lovely pot for pens, small brushes (make up or paint), candles or posies.

Measuring 3.5ins tall x 3.5ins diameter.

Made a slightly better job of photographing this one!

It’s on the website or message me here.

Antique George Jones Preserve Pot. £14.

I found this a real challenge to photograph. I don’t feel I’ve done it justice at all.

An antique, oval, open salt dish in the Willow pattern with no makers mark, this is a delightful piece.

Crazed, marked and with surface cracks showing its age. I love it!

If you too love old, blue and white with all the signs of ageing then this is yours!

Measures 4.25ins x 3ins.

Find it on the website along with other treasures that I’ve made a slightly better job of capturing their beauty!

Antique Open Salt Dish. £12.

Vanity Fair magazine published in 1913 - 1936. It merged with Vogue and disappeared until its relaunch by Conde Nast in 1983.

Here is a very collectible piece from Vanity Fair of Thomas Nickalls ‘The Huntsman’; in excellent condition. His bright red jacket and comical caricature a classic.

Mounted on board measuring 15ins x 10.5ins. The colours are brighter than shown in this photograph.

The box is already sold; sorry!

Vanity Fair ‘The Huntsman’. £20.

It is on the website and I’m happy to post. Uk only.

This wartime YMCA mug was used in the hotel cafeteria from the mid 1930's. The Young Men's Christian Association provided assistance to members of the Armed Forces during the war.

A fabulous collector's piece. It does have an obvious crack, but still a useful holder for pens, toothbrushes, shaving paraphernalia, cutlery, paintbrushes etc. Made by by Grindley Hotel Ware as shown on the base.

Accompanied by a gorgeous RAF match box holder and a pocket Log Log slide rule from the 1950’s in wood and celluloid.

YMCA Mug. £12.

World War 2 RAF Matchbox Holder. £15.

Pocket Log Log Slide Rule. £15.

These are real collectors items of a bygone age and do show signs of wear and tear.

The mug is on the website but not the other two items! Please message me here to buy. Happy to post. Uk only.

Well, I’m home! The sun set as we flew off from Kefalonia and the moon was bright in the sky as we landed back in Manchester! Spectacular!

Looking forward to a walk around my garden, a cuddle with the dogs (and gorgeous husband), checking out my shack and seeing how much the chickens have grown.

In the meantime, here is a lovely antique French bracket shelf with Fleur de Lis markings. A little worn, but with so much character. I love it!

Measuring 16ins long x 8.5ins high x 4.75ins deep.

Fleur de Lis Bracket Shelf. £22.

It is on the website or message me here to purchase. Happy to post. Uk only.

I’ll be trying to get on top of all your orders over the next couple of days and getting them in the post. Many thanks!

Well, that’s almost it! A wonderful 12 nights spent in Kefalonia with my friend of 40years.

My first holiday in 3.5years and our first together. We have called it a resounding success and vow to do it again.

Who knows what jobs the gorgeous husband can do next time!

Two insomniac, perfectionists together with a pile of books, early nights, good food, sunshine and a kettle! Perfect!

Thanks, also to you all for continuing support my little business whilst I’ve been here in Kefalonia. Thank you for buying, commenting and your patience waiting for replies and your parcels. I’ll get wrapping and posting when I get back asap.

Flying tonight! ✈️☀️💦

☀️ ❤️
