**** WARNING **** Long post but i feel i need to put this out there to highlight that no matter how hard you work to provide a good loyal service, clean reliable vehicle and of course a smile even at the hardest times..... THERE IS NONE BACK !!!

Wow, I’m a little surprised and feel very hurt at this to be honest after providing what I feel has been a loyal and reliable service to yourself for many years now.

Just to give you a little insight of why the costs have “escalated” as you put it.

When I started the business in 2009 my cost was £55 return for Manchester Airport when diesel was 0.89p per litre, my first Taxi badge (renewed every 3 years) was approx. £150 (long time ago now) and the vehicle license (Renewed every 12 months) was approx. £225 (again a good while ago now) an operator’s licence was approx. £75 for 3 years and finally Insurance including public liability and breakdown cover was £850 per year.

9 years on and fuel is now at £1.28 per litre at the cheapest supermarket, the taxi badge is now £240 for 3 years. The vehicle license has increased to £305 per year and insurance including PLI but no breakdown is currently £1425 and an operator’s licence is now £180 for 5 years.

Over the 9 years on average fuel costs have increased by 43%, Vehicle licence has increased by 35%, Taxi badge has increased by 33% operator’s licence has increased by 44% and insurance by 67%.

Based on those figures my average costs over 9 years have increased by 47%.

I now charge and average £85 return for Manchester, which over the 9 years has only increased by 41%, and those figures do not include the rising costs for vehicle servicing and the increased charges at the airport for picking up and now dropping off too.

I hope this has given you an insight on how tough it is for a sole trader to survive and earn a living wage yet provide a competitive and reliable service.

I hope your next provider shows you the same loyalty as I have shown, and has all the relevant licences and insurances in place, as more often than not we are finding companies starting up which are not registered with the local council, have no PLI or the correct insurance, should god forbid anything happen.

Drop-off charging at Manchester Airport is causing MORE gridlock say drivers The charging zones - £3 for five minutes or £4 for 10 - were introduced on Tuesday but complaints have started to flood in about delays in the flow of the new system.

As most of our customers are aware this is the reason that our prices have been increased from the 1st June... so for up to 4 passengers it is now £95 return (£50 to drop off and £45 to collect) and for 5-8 passengers it is now £115 (£60 to drop off and £55 to collect)

I'm afraid to say that Staffs Travel will have to pass this NEW DROP OFF cost on to the customer if they require dropping off directly outside the terminal. Picking up from the terminal will not change, we have always included that cost in our price and will continue to do so, even though it has increased by 70% over the last 5 years.

Drop Off at the "FREE DROP ZONE" and customer catches shuttle bus to terminal, and pick up from terminal as normal.

Car - £45 each Way & Bus - £55 each way

Drop Off at the Terminal direct and pick up from terminal as normal.

Car - £50 Drop off, £45 return
Bus - £60 Drop Off & £55 return
