As it's a wet and windy Tuesday I'm doing a bit of competitor research for a client this morning.

I've already found landing pages and homepages that are clearly trying to rank for the same search terms with image file names like 'DSC08324.jpg' and 'img-451.png'

Do better with your image optimisation and you'll improve your pages chance of ranking in many ways.

Already had conversations with Wedding Photographers this morning who have fallen victim to the dirty tactic of a certain someone delisting Google Business Profiles.

This is someone's business, and livelihood.

Both had over 60 reviews, 10 years of experience and have now lost the lot.

If you're speaking to any SEO who has recommended you do this to increase your own business presence, walk away now.

There's a heck of a lot of annoyed wedding photographers out there at the moment thanks to an unscrupulous individual marketing themselves as an SEO for Wedding Photographers removing Google Business listings.

One of the best ways you can protect yourself against this type of SEO is google their service 'Wedding Photography SEO' - Do they rank on page 1?

If not, they cant do SEO.

The same applies to any type of SEO.

'SEO for eCommerce'...... 'Manchester SEO'...... etc

Google them.

If they don't rank they can't do SEO.

He's right. But why?

This is certainly one for the illustrators amongst us, but also worth noting if you use them for your business.

AI images will often produce an image of a person with 6 fingers, odd perspectives, random text and overly-rendered faces. They've been trained by using the artwork of genuine artists and illustrators. Intellectual Property issues anyone?

Ask yourself, are you really putting your business across in the best light?

Your brand should exude authenticity, trust and credibility.

Just because you can, it doesn't mean you should.

“Hi. My website’s not ranking, what can I do?”

Their website:

H1 - “Welcome”
H2 - “We’re here to help you succeed”
H3 - “Our Services”

No mention of what they do, where they do it, and what problem they can solve.

Vague or overly generic headlines are pointless. And they are everywhere.

What does ‘Safe. Reliable. Professional’ or ‘Welcome to our Website’ actually tell a potential customer?

It doesn’t matter what type of website you are building, or for what sector, ensure your H1 and H2 headlines include words people actually have search intent for and are the first thing a visitor sees.

Personally I really like working on a Bank Holiday as the phones are quiet, emails don't ping and you can get your head down and work away with tunes and cups of tea.
