Duddon Old Hall, a tudor house in Cheshire, is looking lovely and fresh now that the flaking paint has been removed and lime washed!
Limewash is the coating applied over lime plaster/render, wattle and daub and clay lump surfaces that allows the building to continue to breathe, allowing vapour/moisture to pass out of the structure.
Today it's also used on modern surfaces including brick, cement and gypsum plaster as well as wooden fencing, garden walls, and timber framing.
For over more than 20 years we have been developing lots of Limewash formulations. Find out more about limewash here: ingilby.co.uk/limewash

Customer feedback and photos received for our Tallow Bound Limewash! 👇
"Ingilby limewash products give amazing results. The service received from Sonya was informative and efficient and helped in our choice of paint. We opted for Chequers White Limewash and Soft Emerald Weathertex for our masonry window surrounds, both go together well and complement each other. The tallow in the Limewash really does give our home superior waterproofing and living in the hills in south west Scotland, we need it. We couldn't be happier, thank you Ingilby. We'll be back for more when the extension is complete."

"Thank you so much for the advice and supply of my pozilime, it went on so well. The house is coated in your pink limewash and the brick skirt is now looking good with the blackish pozilime, they really go well together! I keep going outside and looking at it, really happy with it!"

"I thought you would like to see our grade II listed double cottage project. We have a huge project to revert all modern materials back to period correct for the benefit of the building, this has so far included stripping back all of the windows and doors to bare wood, repairing and then using your linseed oil paint in Bedstone for the sills and door surrounds, and Caboose for the doors and windows.
We absolutely love your paint, you can instantly tell it's right to use it on wood instead of modern paint and the colours are beautiful, we are so happy."

At Ingilby we have a formulated casein distemper, based on a traditional Victorian casein resin emulsion, with added boiled linseed oil. This addition gives extra durability and allows for the coating to have a wipeable finish. This is known as our Oil Bound Casein Distemper.
When to use Oil Bound Casein Distemper...
This is used when a breathable, traditional coating is required on internal plastered walls and ceilings.
Suitable for substrates including lime render, wattle & daub, gypsum plaster, cement and modern plasterboard as well as over coating on previously emulsioned surfaces.
Oil Bound Casein Distemper has good permeability to water vapour and is to be used as an alternative to modern matt emulsion when a breathable, wipeable, matt finish coating is desired.
