Well Saturday’s competition produced a very popular and first time winner.
Well done Samantha (full name as wouldn’t want Sam B to take the glory especially as you had beaten him in the singles earlier in the week….we’ll keep that quiet…)
She was first on countback with 35 points from Mike who had to settle for second. (Are you rueing any missed putts?)
In third place on his own, Dave D no mates? with a creditable 33 playing off not very many. As a consolation though he also took nearest the pin.

Brian probably rued the odd dropped shot as he came 3rd only one point behind with 32 points.

Course looking lovely and lush. Damp in places but trolleys allowed.
Young Austin Cobain chose to start his 13th Birthday with a tee off time of 7.30 am and 9 holes with his dad. Cracking little swing. Have a great day….nice bag! ⛳️
Who’d have thought…under water 4 days ago!
We are opening all holes as the 3rd green has finally been cut as well. There is standing water in places and you will see my tyre marks (🤦♀️) so please keep your trollies out of those areas!
Fairways cut where possible. Working on the rough now….may be gone some time…
Course open following flooding. 8 holes playable. Play 3rd tee to 4th green. ( play 1 and 2 again). Trollies allowed but please don’t wheel them through the wet areas.
We will be cutting in front of you where we can so please be patient. We will move out of the way as soon as it is practical.
Looks like being a pleasant dry day. Enjoy
Twilight walk this evening. Water cleared from 2nd, 6th and 3rd greens. Best guess for opening …on 8 ….will be Monday. Fingers crossed for a good drying weekend.
Sadly we didn’t escape flooding.
At least it is only partial but after 45 mls of rain in less than 24 hours, not unexpected.
At the moment we anticipate being closed through Sunday. Therefore Saturday’s Competiton is cancelled.
A popular winner at the weekend….Aidy romped home with a convincing 38 points. Mark Tate was second and Mike in the prizes again in 3rd.
The nearest the pin on the difficult 8th temporary (who dreamt that up?) proved elusive and is therefore a roll over.
Our next Competiton is on Saturday 25th May.
Course is looking lovely and trollies are allowed.
Everyone is welcome. 8 for 8.30 start.
Green fee £10
Prize money £6 (cash please)

Last tee off time pushed out to 7pm. Now you really have time to get in a quick 9.
Make the most of the light evenings….they go so quickly 🎄
The threat of rain during the competition looked very likely whichever App you had. However at 9am the decision was made that they might as well give it a go and heh presto, it stopped and no one got wet!
Peter played a blinder and took first place on countback from Alex, both with 35 points. He also stole nearest the pin as the last one to have his second go in the last group. He did apologise to Aidy…well, after a fashion.
Mike came in second with 33 points and everyone was glad they had made the effort.
Put 11th May in your diary for the next one.

Last wander round…..😡🤷♀️…even if you have never played golf there is a HUGE clue right there…
Marvellous conditions for our first competition of the year. Some rusty play but everyone delighted to be back out there.
In 3rd place Tony Capon with 34 points
2nd place Kevin Rudkin with an excellent score of 37 points that on any other day would have won….but not today because….
In 1st place our rookie Martin Cassidy who has braved all the trials the course has thrown at him over the past few months, to practice whenever he could, came in with a well deserved 39 points. And just to prove how good he is getting, also took nearest the pin.
Well done everyone and let’s do it all again in a couple of weeks

Pretty sure they wouldn’t win the Tidiest Swan Nest Building Competiton!
First cut of the former lake beneath the 1st tee. I’ve conveniently cropped out the nasty tyre skid!
We hope everyone enjoyed their golf this weekend. Lovely to see so many back and taking advantage of the relatively pleasant weather. Thank you too for the compliments which are hugely appreciated.
