This client was heading to kubix festival and needed a style that could keep her hair out of her face. She also had an extension weft in so we had to work hard to try to conceal that.

So we opted for a big voluminous bubble braid to fight that awful weather we had.

Prob the most common question we get asked is
How often do we need to wax to keep that beautiful smooth skin 🩷

For best results, your hair should be 1⁄4–1⁄2 inch (0.64–1.27 cm) (about the length of a grain of rice) when you wax.
However, hair grows at different rates on different parts of your body.

So heres a breakdown on how long to wait between waxes:

Face: 2-3 weeks
Underarms: 3-4 weeks
Arms and legs: 4-5 weeks
Bikini area: 3 weeks
Back: 4-6 weeks

Pin ups on short hair - can it be done??

If you ask j-lee the answer is absolutely!
Pin ups can be a little bit scary, your hairdresser is doing all this work at the back of your head and all you've given them is a picture to go off. But that just makes the reveal at the end so much better!

Veronica is a regular customer of j-lee's so when j-lee saw her down for a pin up she spent the day questioning her talent for pin ups 😂 veronica has a super short bob with loads of short layers (peep the picture at the end to show you what we were working with)
So veronica sat down and just said "here's a picture do what you can"
About 3000 hair pins later and we came up with this 💕
Now it isnt possible to get every single piece of a short bob back if you can't even tie it in a pony tail, but it is possible to still create a beautiful work of art thats going to last you all night (and if you're too drunk to get it out probably the next day, j-lee's had that feedback before)

Now lets talk about how we got here...
Alison left us last time with a gorgeous ash toned reverse balayage, but as all toners do - they do wash out eventually. More so if your hair is slightly compromised.
Alison decided she'd try an at home toner before her next appointment, except it didnt turn out how she expected, it went a lot warmer.
With her hair history j-lee knew we had to be super careful about adding that lightness back in, since alisons hair is compromised, we didn't add in any bleach last time.
But this time it was a must, to remove as much of that unwanted toner as possible.
So j-lee used her hairdressing brain and we worked really carefully with the softest bleach we had, and diluted it to even softer. We also added in some low lights of a really ashy blonde just to tie the look together.

Aftercare advice given and absolutely no at home toners!!! And alison was on her way with gorgeous hair again🤍

Louise is back again!

Sometimes you can shift the tone of the shade without bleach and lifting agents.

Pauline got to be j-lee's guinea pig today!

We did the usual full head of highlights and low lights to blend those greys, and we cut and blow dried the way we always do aswell.

So i bet you're asking what changed? Why is she a guinea pig? Well- our salon product rep, liam, introduced us to one of mood's latest product releases.
Its called the mood wonder coat, which you spray onto towel dried hair, comb through and then style as usual. And j-lee pretty much fell in love with the results it gave! ✨✨

Paulines hair is usually super frizzy, its naturally curly so sometimes it can be hard to get that super smooth look, but the photos speak for themselves. Look at that shine, and it felt so smooth and soft.

We've even popped a photo of paulines last appointment, we did everything the exact same, the only difference is using the new product.
So even though paulines hair looks gorgeous in both, its just elevated with wonder coat.

Going back to the dark side 🖤

We havent seen charelle since last summer when she came in with j-lee for a full head of highlights and a colour on top, and while it was gorgeous, after nearly a whole year she was ready to move more towards her natural darker colour.

This lovely client came in for a restyle with Jess L, we had a good chat about what she was wanting to achieve, photos for inspiration and how she normally does her hair.
