Interested in trying embroidery? Book your place for our ‘Embroidered Winter Gardens with Louise Goult Textiles’ session later this month.
In the workshop, you’ll take inspiration from the beautiful Winter Gardens as you select one or two of your favourite plants to hand embroider. You’ll then learn how to quickly transfer a design to your fabric as well as how to work a number of suitable hand embroidery stitches. Your completed embroidery can be framed or turned into a greetings card after the workshop has finished.

‘Fixing Time’ is a retrospective exhibition exploring 50 years of work by renowned British artist and photographer Ian Macdonald.
The preview will take place across two venues, Sunderland Museum & Winter Gardens between 4:30pm – 5:30pm and Northern Gallery for Contemporary Art between 6pm – 8pm. Feel free to come to one or both venues.

Sunderland double photography exhibition covers 50 years of industry An exhibition of the work of a renowned British artist and industrial photographer opens across two Sunderland venues in July.
At our Start Your Summer with Pride event on Friday, there will be a range of different creative craft and art activities to get involved with ✏️
Jayne Melissa Hughes will be hosting a Comic Book Characters Workshop on the evening.
Jayne Melissa Hughes shares “I’m a nonbinary, autistic artist from the North East. I studied illustration and design at University of Sunderland and ran my own business called Jayne’s Wonder Club, where neurodiversity, equality and diversity is celebrated through characters, story telling and self portraits. I have experience illustrating picture books and creating their own picture books and I’m about autism and learning differences."
"Drawing can be a tool for mental well being. We create the world we want to be in. In this workshop, you are invited to draw yourself, a persona of who you are and who you want to be, this creative session is intended to inspire self worth and identity. Think of yourself as a character in a comic book, a manga or a graphic novel, what would you look like? What would be your story? Let’s draw together and get creative in a safe space where all are welcome!”
