After the mindless destruction and rioting through the city centre last night this is the sights to greet you walking through the city. Hundreds of people have been out through the night and early morning to tidy the city centre.

Been told of a man with his arm in a sling out from 2.30 in the morning cleaning bags upon bags of rubbish. What a legend.

Massive shout out to out cleaning through the night, for helping organise clean up this morning. for organising a meeting point and clean up, for opening their doors and always supporting the community in Sunderland. Vesta Tilly's had a refreshments station out for the volunteers too.

So so many people out with their own brooms, dustpans and bags you are what makes our city great.

Don’t get caught out. The majority of council car parks are no longer free to park after 3pm, including street pay and display locations. There are a few on the periphery of the city still free after 3pm (I believe Nile St is one), but please check before parking. An extremely disappointing decision by Sunderland council. As if small businesses aren’t struggling enough in the current climate.
