We’ve now got our new sign up (and building number) so hopefully no more struggles finding our new home.

Still a few more tweaks to do on displays, decor and booths but you are welcome to pop in for a peek.

We will be adding to our alternative clothing and accessories in the shop so if you have any suggestions drop them in the comments.

With some of the team on holiday and 4 of us tattooing at the Alt Market at Steam this weekend we may be closed.

You could always pop and see us at the market!

Yesterday evening we picked up the keys to our new studio.

We’re excited to start work on it and will hopefully be tattooing you from there at the end of the month.

Thanks to everyone that has supported us at Bridge Street, don’t worry it’s not far.

As you hopefully know our tattoo convention is coming up at the end of the month.

We are looking to recruit a few more volunteers.

It’s not difficult and you won’t do more than a 2 hour shift at a time and only be put in a role you’ll be comfortable with.

The rest of the time is yours to wander around the show, pop out, sleep etc etc.

Competition time!!!

We’re being a bit selfish with this one and it’s only for those in the Swindon area and you have to do some thinking and travelling(ish).

We are ‘hiding’ three pairs of weekend passes around the town.

Starting this Saturday we will release a clue per day for each location.

We won’t tell you which clue is for which location, you need to do some work!

When you get to the location, if it’s a business premises, you’ll need to say ‘tattoos are for criminals’ to get your tickets.

Rules.

1. There is only one set at each location. We will publicise when they have been found but if you miss that, oh well.

2. If you get to the location first take a picture of you with the tickets there and tag us.

Watch out for these scams. These accounts can seem very real!!

There has been a fair bit of these scams lately. They will target anyone anywhere.

A scam that is more and more prevalent on Facebook is the deposit scam.

This is where an account or page lures you in with amazing tattoo pictures often on a group page.

They have also been known to jump on posts of genuine tattoo artists with the request to privately message them.

How to spot them -

1. Lots of over edited or ai images in their profile.

2. Over exaggerated wording designed to make you think you will change your life by getting tattooed by them.

3. Advertising in numerous groups or countries.

4. No obvious studio affiliation.

5. Offering home visits (illegal in some countries).

6. No definitive location in their bio.

7. Once contacted they will try and ask for your location or if your profile is open they will tell you they also work near where you live or can travel to you.

8. Will focus on your budget, not the tattoo.

9. Often use the wrong currency in their quote.

10. Will give you a street address instead of a studio name.

11. When challenged will tell you they have forgotten that they’ve moved!

These people are often being forced or coerced into carrying out these scams so will be very persistent.

Their aim is to get you ‘an appointment’ and get your deposit paid. These clients often turn up to studios expecting a tattoo to be told they don’t have one.

How to avoid the scam -

1. Don’t respond to any person that advertises in that way and fulfils any of the other flags.

2. Find the studio yourself and check with them.

3. Go into the studio and pay the deposit in person. Do not use PayPal Friends and family or other non challengeable payment methods.

4. Reverse image search the profile picture or tattoos to find their origin or other uses. (See our plagiarism post for more info.)

5. Check the image for evidence or manipulation or AI. This is getting harder as AI and other techniques improve. AI often struggles with hands, quantities and visible pores on the skin. AI struggles to draw tattoos on draw people. Zoom in and check.

What to do next -

1. Let us know about the scammer through our page - Tat Scam Watch. Screenshot any chats (We will edit your name out before sharing). Screenshot their page and send us a link to their profile.

2. Keep an eye on our page and the group to see outed scammers and then contact them with lots of silly questions. This wastes their time talking to us when they could be scamming.
