It’s easy to become consumed with all the things we cannot control. But have you ever tried to just focus on the things you can?
Staying in your lane, focusing on being your best, and competing with yourself will not only help you to succeeding in your goals, but your mental health will thank you for it too!

A quote I used in my first audiobook, and something I truly believe to be true.
Be disciplined with yourself and your riding and your horse will follow suit! It really is all about staying consistent with your good habits, and not letting the bad ones sneak in!
Taking your time with young horses - especially those who think crocodiles live in water trays 😅🤣
I often get asked: “how long will this take for my horse?”
The answer is: “how long is a piece of string?”
No one horse is the same. They will learn and develop at different times both mentally and physically.
There will be times that you don’t see a light at the end of the tunnel of where you want to go, and that’s normal. The question is: do you have the patience to work with it?
If you do, and you’re willing to put the time and hard work in, you could reap the best rewards.
Give up when things are slow or tough and your horse may never have the time to reach its full potential, or someone else may reap those rewards from you.
Eric (the horse in the picture) was a horse I bought as a weedy, unbroken 4yo. He grew into a monster both in size and personality, and as a 4 and 5yo showed very little natural ability and and form of bravery to become a showjumper! Stopping or landing all fours was a constant!
However, we persevered and it suddenly all clicked! Eric went on to jump the puissance at HOYS, and some World Ranking classes!
Not bad for a horse I nearly sold as a hunter! 🙈🤣
My point is, don’t give up, even when things are hard. If you have belief in that horse, see it through, put in the work, and you never know how far you may go!
It’s finally landed!
I had an idea many years ago, but I didn’t have the self belief to follow it through… To create a series of audiobooks that would make you feel like you have your own trainer to take anywhere!
We all know there are loads of apps, pole exercises and videos out there that do similar, but once you’ve watched or read that content, you’re all by yourself when you set foot in the arena…
I wanted to make riding lessons accessible to everyone, and to set it in a format that actually talks it through with you whilst you are schooling - rather than just setting up an exercise you saw and hoping you executed it correctly!
I would love some feedback on what you think - either via the video itself or on here!
Happy training! 😁

If in doubt, take a stride out! 🫣😅
I truly believe that the key to being successful at whatever level you ride at are two main things…
1. Trust and belief in yourself…
2. Trust and belief in your horse!
Commit to your goals. Commit to the decisions you make both in and out of the saddle. Be the rider your horse can in turn trust and believe in, and watch the results come in! 🏅
🍀HAPPY ST PATRICKS DAY 🍀
As a treat, enjoy one of my favourite, easy set up, pole exercises - The Four Leaf Clover!
The countdown is on!
Less than a week until I show you what I’ve been working on whilst stuck at home on these winter days… 🎙️😎
⏰ The CLOCKFACE 2.0 ⏰
The diagrams to the video posted a few days ago… See that post for details on how to ride.
Set up with 18 yards in between each pole - the best way to make sure your distances are even is to get a friend to stand in the middle and have them lunge you! 😅
Have you ever been so driven by the end goal that you forgot how and why you started in the first place?
Sometimes it’s good to take a step back and remember the child with nothing but a love for her pony, the adventures you had with friends and the fun times you’ve had along the way.
Work hard, but don’t forget what brought you here ❤️
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
It’s 😅
What age did you guys start riding?
I was plonked on the odd racehorse all the time when I was very little (and before health and safety 🙈) but I didn’t start riding properly until I was 9!
Wonder if my parents ever regret introducing me to such an expensive, time consuming lifestyle 🤣
“Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn’t work hard”
I’m back and things are well underway for a busy 2023!
Excited to show you all what I’ve been working on… Keep your eyes peeled! 👀
Tis the season to be fat and jolly! 🤣
Hands up if this is applying this month! 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️
It wouldn’t be Christmas without a cracker! 🎊
This reaction from Matt Sampson last night ❤️
Not only a pleasure to watch top class riding, but the love and passion he showed towards his horse, his team and the sport afterwards was something to behold!
In an age of professional riders showing little emotion, I watched this last night and thought how good this was for modern showjumping.
True horsemanship and a hugely well deserved win for someone who has worked so hard for it.
🌟 CHRISTMAS STAR 🌟
This one gets me everytime 🤣
1. I know I’m guilty of having these thoughts occasionally… 🙈 sorry guys!
…and 2. I know my own trainers, owners and parents have also thought this watching me in the ring sometimes 🤣
❄️ THE SNOWFLAKE ❄️
Pretty fitting for this weeks weather! 🥶
If you’re arena has thawed out make sure you give this one a go! The variations are endless!
Lots of things have changed in the horse world since this picture of me 22 years ago…
…But it’s still definitely a thing to use your whip to learn a course better, as demonstrated by .riding.adventures in her lesson! 😅
I wonder if I could tell 10 year old me what we’d achieve if she’d believe me!
(And yes, I still pull that concentration face now 🤣)
Every feel like you’re treading water or you’ve taken a backward step with your riding?
Be kind to yourself… Your (and your horses) best may be more or less every day due to a number of different influences.
That doesn’t mean you’re not achieving. By showing up every day and still striving to be the best you can be on that day, you are always moving forwards towards your goals!
🎶Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree 🎶
If you’re feeling like some festive polework, I’ll be sharing more of these floor plans in the next few weeks - keep your eyes peeled! 👀
…And remember to tag me in all of your training videos!
It’s only 4 weeks until Christmas!
And nothing says festive more than teaching in a turkey costume! 🦃🤣
What’s on your horsey Christmas wish list this year??
What better way to banish the winter blues than a block of consistent training to prep you for the coming season!
Covering Somerset, Dorset and Devon. Fortnightly clinics at Chard and KSEC. Flatwork, gridwork, course jumping, poles.
Make 2023 your best season yet with this kickstart!
💪🏼 GOAL SETTING 💪🏼
Do you set yourself goals or targets?
Do they often seem far away or unachievable?
The key is to break your main goal down into smaller, attainable ones, which will in time lead you to constant progression towards your end target!
