Wilton and Sherford Community Shop

We’ve just had Warren from Renshaw Services come to clean the carpets throughout the hall where the shop was. His knowledge is amazing and the carpets look spotless.

If you’re in need of a good carpet clean, we can highly recommend him. And he was also showing us how skilled he is with all aspects of upholstery cleaning including some amazing leather revitalisations... he’s a very talented man indeed!

We’ve just spoken to a lovely lady called Ashiba from Cinnamon Sugar who specialises in made to order gourmet desserts.

She’s based in Wilton and normally sells at Taunton Country Market and Taunton Farmers Market, but obviously, due to current conditions isn’t able to sell there.

If anyone is looking for cakes, cupcakes, brownies, loaf cakes and loads more, give her a call on 07881 404471.

Cakes are made to order and made with fresh ingredients.

She’s offering to deliver orders or they can be collected from Middleway.

Well, it’s all over... what a crazy ride this shop has been!

We’d like to say a huge thank you to all our customers and all the volunteers who’ve given up their time to come and serve them. We’ve met some amazing people during this and been so pleased with the way the shop was welcomed by the community.

The shop was set up under the Wilton and Sherford Community Interest Company, which is a not for profit organisation, so any profit we made will stay in the company. We will be using the company to do things for the local community. We will announce more about that in the future but, for the moment, we’re going to enjoy the BBQ at 5pm and then sleep for a week to recover!

Once again, thank you all so much for helping make this shop such a success.

It’s our last day of trading today!

We are open at 10am until 1pm and we intend to sell everything we have. Come down and grab yourself a bargain... there’s at least 50% off most stock.

Also, don’t forget the farewell BBQ between 5pm and 7pm this evening.

This has been such a rewarding project and we are so grateful to all the people who helped make it possible along with all our fantastic customers!

For the last two days, we are dropping the prices of almost all stock right down to 50% !!

So, we reach our final week at the shop. 😢

We’ve decided to cut the prices in the shop this week by 25% on most of the stock, so you can all come and grab a bargain!

We will still be getting fresh fruit and veg in daily, along with things like milk - but that will all have to stay full price - as will all the Mr Miles stock.

We’re looking forward to seeing you all this week - and don’t forget our farewell BBQ on Saturday between 5pm and 7pm!

My kitchen is starting to resemble a bakery this afternoon in preparation for tomorrow’s takeaway cream tea!! Flour everywhere 😫

So, the inevitable is upon us and the time has now come for us to say goodbye.

Life for most families is now starting to get towards the new “normal” and our necessity is almost gone - so we’ve decided that now is a good time for us to pack up our little pop-up shop.

We’ve had so much fun and enjoyed serving Wilton and Sherford, along with meeting local residents and really feeling part of the community.

We want to thank everyone who has helped. The list of people is so long that we decided to not mention any specific names, but the shop couldn’t have operated without the amazing support of everyone involved - so thank you.

To celebrate the success of this shop, we will be playing host to another socially distanced BBQ provided by Cullens Catering. It was so lovely and so successful last time that we thought it would be the perfect end to this fun project!

So, we will be continuing to open at our usual times each day until Saturday June 6th and on that last day we invite you all to our goodbye BBQ between 5pm and 7pm.

But we’re not quite done... we’ve thoroughly enjoyed working together on this project and we didn’t want this community group to just disappear, so this won’t be the end for us as a group! We are definitely going to have a break after closing the shop, but we have a few ideas with where this group goes next, so watch this space!

We’re open now until 1pm and are stocked up with plenty of fresh fruit & veg, meat and pies from Bishops Hull butchers, Mr Miles teas and coffees, baking essentials, eggs, bread, milk, locally made jam and preserves... plus there are ice creams and lollies in the freezer should you need a quick break in the sun!

Self raising flour is back in stock!!!

We’ve just had a visit from the local police who’ve come along to say hi!

We, obviously, offered them free food and drink to thank them for their service.

Just a reminder we’re open from 10am - 1pm again tomorrow (Friday) even though it’s bank holiday.

Don’t forget that Ed Cullen will be cooking delicious takeaway BBQ food from 4pm - 6pm outside the shop. Card payment preferable. We will be open for ice creams and cold drinks at that time too! Pop along and celebrate VE Day in a socially distanced way 😎
