We have new, gorgeous and colourful jewellery in the gallery from - perfect for this sunny weather!

Carla Edwards designs and makes contemporary jewellery from her workshop in Leith, Edinburgh.

Inspiration comes from a love of the natural world, pattern, colour, and drawing. The small details of plants fascinate Carla, and she enjoys translating elements of drawings into wearable jewellery. Pieces are influenced by sketches from her garden, walks in the woods, and the famous Royal Botanic Gardens of Edinburgh.

Resin has a huge range of colour possibilities, and the variety of patterns, translucency, form, and finish that can be achieved with the material is never ending. Each piece is made by hand with patterns turning out a little different each time, so no two pieces are exactly the same.

Techniques used are mould making, casting, filing, carving, and polishing resin. These are alongside traditional metalworking techniques such as soldering, piercing, and hammering.

Carla graduated from Edinburgh College of Art in 1997 with a BA(Hons) and in 1998 with a PGDip, both in Applied Art and Design, Jewellery, and Silversmithing. Established in 1999.

We are excited to introduce new jewellery from to Olive Rose!!

Judith

Making jewellery was a childhood hobby of Judith’s. Rummaging through craft shops in Germany where she grew up, she would search for the most unusual beads, mixing patterns and textures to make wonderfully eclectic earrings and necklaces. Putting colours, shapes, and finishes together was her favourite thing in the world.

Judith studied jewellery design at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design Maastricht (MAFAD) in the Netherlands, where she was encouraged to experiment, discovering her love for the curious. After graduating, Judith moved to London, where she gained invaluable experience in Hatton Garden, working for some of London’s top jewellers. She explored, learned, and honed her skills as a maker for six years. In 2019, Judith graduated from the business incubator ‘Setting Out’ by the Goldsmiths’ Centre and launched her eponymous jewellery brand – Judith Peterhoff.

Judith has always been inspired by details, specifically in the human form. She marvels at how freckles on a face, a beauty mark on a cheek, the port-wine stain on her niece’s hand gives that person their own unique, beautiful stamp. Her vision is to celebrate and embrace perceived imperfections, creating unique, handmade jewellery for the modern woman.

It was so much fun visiting Cheltenham today, seeing such talented makers, some I've known since my first Craft Festival in 2010, many I've met along the way and some new ones I met today!

It's been a crazy journey to get where I am, but one I'm so proud of 💗 (how am I a gallery owner 🤪🤯 I still have to pinch myself)

It's taken a lot of fails, many 'I quit!'('s), living room table/ cupboard studio spaces, numerous day jobs alongside, and huge amounts of encouragement, advice and support from so many friends, fellow makers, customers and family (chris and my girls especially!) to get here - they say it takes a village to raise a family well it takes a family to raise a maker!!!!!

It is the 20th anniversary of in June this year and although I'm not exhibiting I will be visiting and supporting!

If you've never been, I highly recommended it, and if you're a maker look out for the application dates for some of Sarah and her team's shows!

My Nanny - Olive Hillary LeBrocq, glamorous, tenacious, strong willed, my best friend as a child, and the original 'Olive' behind the name 🥰

And

My Molly 'Olive' and Bonnie 'Rose' - my equally strong willed and wonderful girls 👧 who (as well as challenge me 🤪) push me daily to be the best me I can be, this is all for them, to show then they can be and do anything they put their minds too 💖
