My faith in humanity has been fully restored! This is all thanks to a wonderful Irish man and his beautiful daughter.

We were travelling from Taunton to Holyhead to catch a ferry to Dublin yesterday. That’s a long journey already, but we then had to travel to the other side of Ireland to a beautiful place called Tourmakeady. This unfortunate tyre disaster happened on a busy motorway just outside of Dublin. After evacuating my son Jake Pollard, his Girlfriend Delphi Thompson-Farley and our little one Daniel from the car. I attempted to remove my spare wheel. Only to find the fixings securing it were heavily corroded and I hadn’t been supplied with a tool to remove! This spare was also flat, (yes I should have checked before travelling!). I had a small moment of despair and tried to contact a local recovery company, (very unhelpful and slow to respond). Whilst waiting impatiently for them to get back to me, an absolute legend of a man came to our rescue. He’d passed us and seen our situation, so got off at the next junction. He then had to travel quite a way back to a previous junction to get on our side of the motorway. He helped me remove my shredded wheel, took us all to a services, then took me to two different tyre garages in order to find the required tyre. New tyre fitted, he then returned me to my car, assisted with refitting, then gave me a huge hug and escorted me back to my waiting children at the services! Honestly don’t know what we would have done if this kind and very funny man hadn’t come to our rescue. All he asked for in return was that I returned the favour at the next opportunity, when someone else was in need. When I thanked him profusely, he replied “why wouldn’t I help a family in need”.
