Not so fast
Training discipline is indeed important but this doesn't take nerves and anxiety into account in pressured situation of the race. You can have all the fitness in the world but if you tighten up during a race, your performance will stall and you will run slower. In this video I explain why.
You Give Too Much Of A S_____ | The Great Athlete Tip
Distraction is why most athletes tighten up during a 100 meters, 200m or 400m race and run slower than they should. They're distracted by all sorts of things. Mainly by the pressure you put on yourself and other things such as the other athletes in the race, that ni**le you have, all this confuses your body and when a body gets confused, it tightens. You give too much of a s_____ and put so much pressure on yourself that you cannot handle it.

Resting, Winter Training and Relaxation | The Great Athlete Tip
For any sprinter or 400m athlete, the winter season can be the start of a new dawn. Putting frustrations or success of last season behind you to focus on achieving more. But there are pitfalls that athletes fall into as they transition from break to winter training and this is what this video concentrates on.
This is the perfect time to use relaxation and practise it in your sprinting and running. Making it a priority prevents injury and overtraining. Athletes will often come back into training with increased motivation and vigour. A renewed drive. But this is a double edged sword as this can lead the athlete to train too hard too early leading to injury.
Practising relaxation during this time allows any athlete to build their fitness up at a rate that is manageable for their body while also incorporating proper relaxed running technique.

ARE YOU AWARE WHEN YOU ARE NOT RELAXED BEFORE YOUR RACE?
It seems a simple question but Sprinters are often so caught up in their nerves that they forget to take a step back.
If you can't tell when we re tight and nervous, we cannot apply Relaxation.
And if you re tight and nervous, this will likely rob you of your power, endurance and coordination.
It's why so many athletes run slower or do not improve even thought they ve done ALL the training.

TRYING = FAILURE | HOW TO RELAX WHILE SPRINTING
Trying is such a common word to use in our society today and we use it all the time with the intention of achieving something. It is especially common in the field of sport and you will see many , many of them in the elite world stage using the term trying.
But as I demonstrate in this video, Trying is a word that actually hurts your performance in your , 400m or anything you want to achieve. Trying actually means to fail. It's a term or a language that the body doesn't understand and it confuses it. If your body and mind are confused then this makes it weaker and actually more stressed. A more stressed and confused body means more tightness and restrictions to your power and stride length. Trying is the total antithesis of relaxation and by trying it will be impossible to saty relaxed while sprinting.
This is why athletes, without knowing it, are sowing the seeds of failure into their performance even before the gun has gone off.
If you want to achieve something, you have to give your body a distinct command. Relaxation or tightness is actually a choice you make and it's within your power to bring about either. So when you command your body to be relaxed, it will follow that command. Say "I choose to be relaxed" is a far superior than "I'll try and relax".
