3 years ago today my website finally went live!

The website has changed quite a bit in that time with 💕WEDDINGS 💕 as the latest addition!

Trying to get everything off the ground during lockdown after lockdown made for a slow start and, although things feel pretty slow going again at times (especially this time of year!) I am still so proud of how far it has all come and so very grateful for everyone who has supported me 💗

Mother’s Day Gift 💗

Finally sharing just a few from this really sweet session at the end of October last year.

Braving a bit of a cold evening almost always pays off and this one definitely did and allowed us to get this special maternity session in before little one arrived 💕

I love love 🥰

Sooo much fun and love with and to get to meet them ahead of their wedding last year!
I really is true, going from never having met people, to them choosing you to document such an important day, to feeling like friends is the most amazing part of this process 💕
They held the most incredible NYE wedding and party for all of their family and friends, with so many carefully thought out details, I only wish I could have stayed all night 🎉
So this is my one and only current editing project: the most beautiful NYE wedding 🪩

WEDDINGS | Bethan Ruiz I documented my first wedding in 2019 and then I was fortunate enough to photograph a few wonderful days each year until 2023 where I went a little quiet due to other work and family commitments and had one epic wedding on NYE!

Although the majority of my sessions are outdoors (at sunset!), I can visit your own home for sessions with the smallest ones and this one was the loveliest: in part because it was for one of my oldest friends and being able to document these moments for family and friends means the world to me 💕

I bring baskets, blankets, clothes if you want: all I require is a bit of space near some natural light 📷

Yet another example of how rough the weather can be and then how beautiful it can try to be when you need it 💕
I have my set places to shoot, but if there is somewhere that means something to you and works for you then please always ask 🥰

It can be hard to really show this simply through social media, though I try to explain it: that every person and family I meet, everything becomes much more than a “photoshoot” and those who have trusted me with these moments will hopefully know what I mean 💕

In the middle of summer 🌊 ☀️

I can’t explain how much every single session means to me and how honoured I feel to document moments in anyone’s lives.

I cannot emphasise enough how these sessions are not about just “getting beautiful photos”: the sessions can be an opportunity for you to take time, to be present, to heal, to give some light, to remind you how strong you are and to create new memories too 💛

This is me: well this is me plus my two little ones and a beautiful dress from the client loan wardrobe 🥰

I haven’t done an introductory type post in a long time, so now I have some recent pics (courtesy of !) I thought I might ☺️

I’m Beth 👋🏼 here’s a few things about me, which ones did you already know!?

4 days a week I’m a primary school teacher, the rest of the time I’m a photographer and all the days I’m a mum 🥰

I specialise in outdoor family and couple sessions at sunset but also shoot a few weddings a year too 💕

I avoid being in front of the camera usually (like everyone does!) but do my best to help you relax and feel comfortable when I’m the one taking photos. I am learning to be more comfortable in my own skin too and want to promote body positivity in front of my children and to do this through photography too.

I have a cat and am a cat person but I love meeting cute doggos too!

I love the beach, not just for photos, but for life: I love being by the sea 🌊

I would choose beer or cider over wine or spirits.

I’m an 80s baby.

I LOVE mash potato.

I’m constantly striving to find that balance between work and family life as I love being there and present with my children: though it is super hard at times! Squishing up my babies is my favourite 💕

There’s some key things, I can’t think of anything more interesting to add but well done if you read this far ☺️

Little things 💕
Teeny, tiny newborn twins - this was a beautiful and relaxed set up at home and I cannot believe how tiny they were. I felt extra lucky to photograph these gorgeous babes after being there to document the wonderful wedding of mum and dad too 🥹

Continuing to catch up and share from just before the summer really got going: this beautiful family session with grandparents and a pet too 🥰
Family sessions can involve anyone and everyone 💕

I don’t do indoor sessions often but.. it has become more common for the smallest ones! I still insist we can do newborn shoots outside: if you’d take your baby out in the pram bundled up then you can do the same for photos with the right weather!! But a simple set up indoors is an option too - all of my packages are on my website 🥰
This tiny girly isn’t so tiny now but is getting cuter by the day 🥹🥰

I said there would be more of these… and I love the colours of this cloudy evening but the black and white for certain images just makes me feel it all even more. So much love 💕

Sunset autumn/winter sessions still happen: it’s earlier, you can layer up and dress cosy and opt for a short session! I can even customise a mini session if you’re not wanting to be out for too long - this works best for couples! 📷

This sunny Sunday morning reminded me I am supposed to be sharing more from before summer still because I am that slow at this stuff 🫠
So next up is this beautiful family session at my most popular spot on a June evening with the most beautiful cloudy light - no sun makes for the most crisp and stunning photos! LOADS of black and white because I LOVE black and white!
Couldn’t quite fit all my faves in one post so more to come…
What others might not see from this, are the special little things that clients bring to sessions to help document these moments, and I love this 💕
I also love how you amazing clients become so much more than that, how we go from strangers to friends and how I get to see your families grow - soppy me loves this too 🥰

A beautifully sunny evening at the start of summer to celebrate a first birthday with a bit of cake 🎂

So it’s only taken me a month to share part 2 from this session back in June 🫠 pretty standard for me 🥰
There were so many precious moments to share from this gallery but I narrowed my absolute favourites down to this and the previous post 🥹 I love the details of the hands, beautiful stretch marks, flowers from the field and all of the hazy light 😍 then all these sweet moments between this family that still make me well up when I look back at them - just so cute 🥺 of course, I will soon need to share the darling little girly that came next!!
Maternity sessions are my favourite - I love helping you to feel confident and comfortable in your skin and document it naturally 💕
Some client wardrobe featured here: dress and socks on the little girl, both dresses for mum - one of which is a beautiful duster and both are just perfect for letting bump out and showing how amazing your body is 💛

This evening we were heading to the woods and I drove past this field and am so glad we changed the location - I feel so very lucky to have been taking photos of this lovely family over the last few years - it means so much to me 💗

One of the most important things about a photo session: is you should all just be you! I’ve said it before and I stand by it, I expect children to be children. I expect them to do what they want and I don’t expect them to “smile for the camera”. I’ve been a primary school teacher a fairly long time and have two children of my own so nothing a child does on a shoot will surprise me! Go with the flow, go with them, try to relax and trust me to document all that unfolds 🥰
