We are looking for a friendly person who would like to join our team of Toenail Cutting Assistants. The post is mainly based in a community setting but with some home visiting required. The ability to work unaccompanied with initiative is essential. This is a customer facing role and experience in dealing with people and familiarity of a healthcare environment is an advantage.
Days of work will be approximately 4 hours each on two Thursdays per month.
Full PPE is supplied as the safety of staff and clients is of paramount importance.

One of our team went along to a local Sit, Fit and Fun class to see what they're all about.

I had the absolute pleasure of visiting our Staplegrove Sit, Fit and Fun class (formerly Flexercise!), so I could find out more about the session and meet some of our participants.

“𝙄𝙩’𝙨 𝙜𝙤𝙤𝙙 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙪𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙬𝙚 𝙜𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙪𝙣”

I had an extremely warm welcome from the friendly group. There were ten of us in total and the session started with a bit of a natter while everyone came in and settled. “We come for a chat,” said one lady while another added, “I get to see my neighbour and meet new people.” One of the primary focuses of these classes is to have fun and meet people.

Once ready and sat in a circle, Volunteer instructor Marcy expertly led us through some chair-based exercises for a gentle full body workout, followed by some hilariously fun co-ordination and memory games.

“𝙎𝙝𝙚 𝙠𝙚𝙚𝙥𝙨 𝙪𝙨 𝙤𝙣 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙩𝙤𝙚𝙨,” said one participant as a ball skittered across the floor while we tried to pass scarves in one direction and balls in another.

We ended on a challenging word game and a gentle cool down, it was such an enjoyable session, I’d love to go again.

Each Sit, Fit and Fun class may be a little different from another, but they all hold the same values- to promote physical health, mental health and wellbeing through regular chair-based activity. These chair-based activity classes can be used to support those looking to regain strength and flexibility as well as to reduce social isolation.

Yesterday for one of our events a group of staff and volunteers got together for coffee, cake and a lively quiz in the Park Room at the COACH centre in .

A group of our Volunteers enjoyed learning about the Academy and their students while we were served a delicious cream tea!

This was one of the events we've been putting on across Somerset and North Somerset, thanks to local businesses, as our way of showing appreciation for the fantastic and invaluable contributions of our Volunteers making life better for older poeple in Somerset and North Somerset throughout the year.

Our Volunteers had a wonderful time yesterday on a special coach tour of the Glastonbury Festival site! This was part of our celebrations when we show our appreciation of our awesome volunteers by arranging trips and treats throughout the week.

We have to say a massive thank you Mark and Tanya and to all Glastonbury Festivals for making this special trip possible! All our Volunteers had a fantastic time!

Wow! The beauty! The decadence! What a treat!
Yesterday afternoon a lucky group of our wonderful volunteers were invited to visit The Story of Gardening exhibition and enjoy coffee and cake in the awesome surroundings at the amazing Newt near as part of our celebrations!

This morning's event is a visit to Shepton Mallet Prison!

Thank you so much to Becky and Alex Dryad Gin for a wonderful walk through the woods to the Dryad Tree on Broomfield Hill yesterday. There were centaurs! There were Tree Spirits! There was an invisible lizard! There was a toast with a taste of their own delicious small-batch gin (made with bark of the oak tree!)!

This was one of the events that they helped us to put on to say Thank You to our fantastic volunteers.
