Morning lovely people . I just wanted to let you know that I still have two spaces left on my Summer Sizzler brand shoot deal . That’s 20% off your August shoot 🙌.
There are limited spaces left for September and October too. So if you are interested in a shoot get in touch and let’s make it happen
Yesterday I learnt all about Fika from Victoria Grimberg at the Twelve Network event run by Vic Williams at Venaspace the art of sharing a coffee and cake with someone over a conversation the Swedish way.
Something I think I have got better at over time, especially since moving to the Southwest ten years ago. Back in London, everything was go go go. Jobs were booked in a ten-minute phone call or in an email, quick and impersonal, but it was what I was used to.
I have learnt to take much more time to spend with and get to know people, especially those in my business community, and come to love this way of working.
We also learned yesterday about consistency from Ashley Leeds, who is one of the most consistent people I know. I would love to be more Ashley, which brings me to the pictures below.
Recently I was introduced to London Nootropics by Katie Arscott and have fallen for their Flow coffee, It helps with clarity, it helps me bring my A game, and it is helping me be more consistent. I don't think I would be writing this post right now without it.
So if you fancy a chat over a coffee especially if it is one made with health benefits I am your girl!
Update:
Plastic-free July hasn't been going as well as I had hoped.
We lost two important shops in Wellington over the last year our green grocer Mary Jenkins and more recently our waste-free shop the Blue Pantry.
Where before it was straightforward to find veg and cereals etc which weren't wrapped in plastic, now I have to travel into Taunton around a 15-mile round trip to do the same. I don't know whether the carbon produced by me doing this would be worth it, so I will only pick up things I need if I am there anyway.
This is difficult for me as someone who is not a great forward planner.
On a more positive note, I have been buying some great products online from some small sustainable businesses that share the same values as me. Like these gorgeous earrings from my lovely friend Emma Anton. Aren't they pretty?
Still a carbon footprint of course, but I am able to support artisans like her who I know won't be using plastic, even down to the washi tape, and I get a personalized message with my purchase too!
Go check out her Instagram page if you fancy supporting a small business. ( link in comments)
And if you need any of your sustainable products photographed. I would love to talk to you.
Shameless clickbait.....
But if you are still here, who wants to help me choose a new profile headshot from my impromptu selfie session to capture the new blue?
It is so important to keep up to date with your profile picture regularly, especially if you change your look, which is why I had myself a little sunny session in the garden last night!
So which one do you think represents me best?
The BEST thing about being nominated for this award is the kind-hearted words that go with it.
A big shout-out today goes to my sister from another mister.
And business owner extraordinaire in her own right Megan Poole from Olives +.
I hope she won't mind me sharing these words as it really is one of the nicest testimonials you can get.
"Aisling is one of the most hard working people I know. She is constantly adding to her business through learning new skills. She has shown a reliance to keep fighting for her business through the changes our country has undergone in the past few years. She keeps her head up and because of this, her business is growing into something remarkable. People love Aisling because she makes them feel so at ease when she is taking their photos. She almost blends into the shoot and makes the client feel completely relaxed, making the experience a good one. (I am a client of Aisling's). Her holistic approach to the person/business she is photographing helps make the whole project come alive. Aisling deserves this award so she can see that all her hard work, determination, ridiculous hours and constant positivity pays off."

Things have been up and down so far this ‘Summer’.
Which means lots of diary changes and reworking.
This meant that last week I was able to help out Lendology CIC when they needed something quickly.
Last week’s shoot also reminded me that I hadn’t shared any photos from their competition-winning shoot from earlier in the year.
So here we go.
It is always worth checking if you need something ASAP. I will always do my best to help or point you toward someone else who might.

I have got that Friday feeling and despite what I can see out of my window and the constant postponements and shoot splits that have been occurring because of this temperamental summer, there are lots of positive vibes in the air and I am going with it.
I have created a limited offer for you for the month which will be available on shoots taken before the end of August.

The last couple of weeks have been busy back and forth from London to Cornwall and back again, so I am glad this week all my work is fairly local. I'm just praying for more sunshine than showers.
Here is a photo that sums up the summer from this weekend's Ceilidh for Nightingale charity at Botany Bay Farm, Enfield.
I travel anywhere for the right work, so If you are holding a retreat in Barcelona or fancy a business shoot in Barbados. I am your girl 🌴

Happy weekend.
The one subject I avoid talking about too much on social media is politics.
But today is a momentous day after 14 years of Tory rule and can't go without note.
It certainly doesn't feel anything like 1997.
Seeing the hateful attacks thrown towards Jess Phillips in Birmingham Yardley as she took the seat had me in floods of tears this morning for all the wrong reasons.
However huge congratulations go out to my new MP Gideon Amos OBE, who has run a really positive and vibrant campaign.
The high number of votes for Reform shows that we are still living in a very divisive and divided country.
I have got so used to the vote going against my views, with Brexit being the biggest disappointment in recent times. It doesn't yet feel real.
Now I am just really hoping to see lots of positive change going forward, that will hopefully bring us closer together not keep tearing us apart.
A massive shout out goes out today to Imprints Taunton who very generously offers to reprint my shirts with the tagline in a more appropriate place!
It has taken me a long time to getting to the stage of printing my own branded clothing not least because of the environmental impact.
The fashion industry is responsible for 43 million tons of plastic waste each year 🤯
That was why it was really important to me to find some garments that were produced sustainably in line with my values.
Imprints have a large range of sustainable supplies. But unfortunately nothing in my brand colours.
However I did manage to source these lovely products by Juice. They feel great on the skin, and are doing good for the environment and even better were very reasonably priced.
No excuse
Do you take sustainability into consideration when making your fashion choices ?
Note to self
And anyone else who needs to hear it.
Well, it may not look like it today, but I think this is as good as it's going to get.
It is time to book those summer sundowner shoots, to make the most of the late summer evenings and those golden hour sunsets.
These shoots will be limited otherwise I'll be in trouble for being out every night!
DM me to find out more.
You CAN have it all.
When your life is in flow. ( and when you work with me! 😁 )
At least that's what I have taken from working with the wonderful human that is Kate Adey on a shoot back in May ( Wow, where did that time go?).
Kate contacted me after seeing some work I had done with a friend of hers Carolyn Matravers APFS.
We had our first meeting when I was away in Portugal where I discovered what an interesting and diverse coaching business she runs.
We needed to find a way to show the many elements of what Kate does, how she works as well as showing some of Kate's personality and how she spends her time.
> That is why we used 4 different locations.
> Enjoyed some help from the lovely Women's Business Club thanks again to Tamsin Broster
> Had many different outfit changes.
> And created a large portfolio of images for Kate to use for different elements of her business.
However that has created a bit of a problem.
Too many images to choose!
But do you know what if you work with me, That doesn't matter.
Why?
Because I supply you with a fully edited set of pictures, ready to run with, and they are all for you, ready to roll, with full usage rights, for life.
I work this way because I want to make it super easy for my clients to get themselves out there.
My background in the media means I want you to be seen, everywhere and that means you can send your pictures to the press without worrying about breaking any licensing rules, you can pick the picture that fits your post without having to pay an extra fee.
Hell, you can plaster yourselves all over a billboard and I will be the first to shout about it for you. Because that is why I do what I do, so you can be properly SEEN for doing what you DO.
If you want a life in Flow then please connect with Kate Adey and find out how she can help you and if you want to keep those on-brand photos flowing, reach out to my DM's.
Loved working with Teresa Baxter recently on her new photos. I’ve known Teresa for many years, but she has never had the confidence to step out in front of the camera until now.
I’m so pleased she did and even happier that when I asked her if I could post these pictures she said yes without hesitation. Something she had never expected to say prior to our shoot.
If you would like some help to feel more confident in front of the camera. I’m your girl.
Pop a message in my DM’s and i’ll talk you through the process
It dosen’t matter to me if your male or female or other.
If your black or white or green or purple.
If you have a physical or a learning disability.
If you are 18 or 118.
For me it’s about your story. The human interest.
The connection.
There are a lot of female business owners out there who only work with other Women.
And to be honest I just don’t get it?
Don’t get me wrong I love working with my female clients, I enjoy networking with other women. I love the way we empower each other and lift each other up. And I appreciate that female only spaces can help facilitate that.
But what has gender got to do with the business you run? Unless it’s gender specific of course.
Is gender just for the sake of it really a niche?
I’m not sure having a gender bias would go down well in any other working environment. In fact I think it would be the opposite .
So just to be crystal clear my doors are open to everyone.
Maybe I’m totally missing the point and I am open to being enlightened.
Just my musings for a Monday.
Love who you are and don’t be afraid to tell your story.
Well that’s it ten years of Somerset life.
No not the magazine as I have misslead you to believe with this photo.
Ten years to the day since we moved to Somerset.
Does that mean I’m not a grockle anymore ?
Ten years since I finished working for The Mirror group across in Buckinghamshire on the Friday, packed up all our belongings from the static we were living in and took several trips over the weekend to move into our new Somerset home to start work for Newsquest ( the people who now publish SomersetLife-there is a link) on The Monday.
I wouldn’t reccomended it. I don’t mean the move to Wellington, that part I’m very happy about.
But give yourself at least a week if you are relocating. I am still traumatised!!
Maybe that’s why we bought the house that we were renting and are still here Ten years on!
❤️
I often ask people about their ‘WHY’ when i’m working with them on thier brand strategy before a shoot.
Here’s mine 😜😂
Happy weekend
I got my new t-shirts back yesterday. Thank you Imprints Taunton for being so accommodating and to the gorgeous Sally Maidment from Design Bean Who sorted these for me ( nearly a year ago 🤦🏻♀️).
Well the good news is for a lady in my mid forties, i’m clearly a little perkier than one might have imagined.
However I may need to get my tagline moved up a couple of inches 😬🫢.
And if this post about my b***s hasn’t got you smiling, then I clearly need to rethink where my life is going . 🍋🍋😉
I have fallen out of love.
I have struggled posting to my social media over the last month or so.
As someone who works in 'marketing', it's not an ideal position, but we all know what it is like. Especially when you work alone, and are doing all the things.
So today I am making a concerted effort to get back on the horse so to speak.
Starting from the beginning with a reintroduction.
Hi, I am Aisling. A dull woman. And proud of it.
I live a simple life.
I try to be sustainable and leave no trace, wherever I go.
I love the sun ( and I miss it)
I have been taking photos for a living since I was 17.
With some interludes. ( a story for another day)
I have no siblings and no children.
I am a dog mum ( it's her birthday and she is 14)
I never got married, though have been with my 'boyfriend' for nearly 23 years.
I have photographed many famous people, from musicians to politicians.
But that's not what lights me up.
I LOVE a good story. I Love working with people and helping them feel confident in front of the camera. Helping them find their true story and authenticity, no AI is needed here.
I find running a business hard sometimes. But I love the freedom it gives me.
I love to travel and try to visit a new place every year.
I am working on ways to make this happen more in my work. ( if you run a retreat, message me, I have some great ideas to share with you).
Photographed last year in Sakalava, Madagascar.
Nice to meet you. Tell me something I don't know about you.
Another day another office!
Set up for some new headshots with the lovely team at Chartered Accountants, Taunton.
Well, I never! Thank you so much to the anonymous person who has nominated me in the Women's Business ClubClub awards. That has certainly brightened up my day.
