We are delighted to introduce Maia, a dynamic addition to our teaching team. Originally from Portugal, Maia began her educational journey in the UK in 2019, culminating in the completion of her Bachelor’s degree in Business Enterprise from the University of Birmingham last year.
With seven years of experience in customer service, Maia’s passion for people, communication, travel, and embracing challenges has been instrumental in shaping her worldview. Her adventurous spirit has led her to reside in various countries such as Greece, Italy, and France, with a significant solo backpacking trip through Asia igniting her pursuit of health and fitness.
A devoted practitioner of yoga since her teenage years, Maia attained her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certification in Goa, India. For her, yoga transcends being a mere hobby; it is a profound lifestyle that facilitates self-discovery and personal growth. Drawing from her training and experiences, Maia began teaching online private yoga lessons in Bali and Malaysia, infusing her classes with affirmations, manifestation techniques, and a deep belief in the healing power of yoga.
At 23 years old, Maia exudes vitality and enthusiasm for continuous self-improvement and exploration. Her philosophy that yoga is a journey of self-exploration resonates deeply with her, and she is eager to share her knowledge and passion with our team.

Contrast therapy, also known as contrast bath therapy, is a technique that involves immersing a part of the body alternately in hot and cold water or applying hot and cold packs to the body in order to promote circulation, reduce inflammation, and alleviate pain.
The alternating exposure to hot and cold temperatures is thought to cause blood vessels to expand and contract, which may help to improve circulation and reduce swelling. This therapy is commonly used in physical therapy and sports medicine to treat various conditions such as muscle strains, joint pain, and swelling.
The typical procedure for contrast therapy involves immersing the affected area in hot water for a specified period of time, followed by immersion in cold water for a shorter period of time. This cycle is repeated several times, usually for a total treatment time of 15-30 minutes.

WHY PRACTICE IN THE HEAT IN THE SUMMER?
The science behind the sweat 👀
While yoga is a fairly low intensity form of exercise, the heat of the Pod will raise your body temperature. By mimicking the effects of a more intense physical activity, it increases your heart rate, providing a challenge for your cardiovascular system. More so than unheated yoga. And of course, regular cardiovascular exercise equals a healthy heart. The summer heat elevates this. Your ticker will thank you.
If you struggle with the summer heat, hot yoga helps.
Each time you step into the Pod’s warm embrace, your body acclimatises to the heat. The more you do it and the hotter it gets in the summer, the quicker your body will be able to adapt in similar conditions. Whether you’re exploring a new city in the sunshine, trail running in the Mediterranean heat or simply going about your daily routine. The exposure from the Pod will regulate your body temperature. Ultimately, sweating in the Pod will prepare you for life’s sweatier moments.

In collaboration of .gb we are bringing you a fun filled day to give you the foundational skills to get you comfortable taking your first ever wheel pose or handstand. Although these are advance poses, this workshop is catered for beginners as well for those who want to refine their skill.
Here’s what to expect on the day 🤸🏻
The workshop is ideal for all levels and abilities, and aims to provide a structured progression for those wanting to increase their back bend & hand balance skill base.
We will be covering the anatomy of both skills, mobility drills to increase active range of motion, flexibility drills, progressions, regressions, movement flows & a structured route for programming these skills into your weekly practice.

✨ New Teacher Announcement ✨
The team and I are so pleased to announce our newest team member of HPY Taunton - Ali 🙌🏻😍
My name is Ali and I love everything about yoga; both the practice on and off the mat. I was fortunate to live in South East Asia for 7 years where I studied and practiced yoga as well as developing strength and fitness in the gym. I learnt so much about people, different cultures as well as myself, and being there changed the path I had been on, after working in the charity sector in the UK.
On my return to the UK, I became a qualified Level 3 Personal Trainer and later, I formally completed my Yoga Teaching qualification.
I love to encourage students and clients and with their practice or personal goals and believe we should focus on what we can do, rather than what we can’t.
We change and adapt as we get older and I feel blessed to be able to use my skills and knowledge in helping others connect with their body and be ‘present’ .
Yoga continues to challenge me to slow down, practice without judgement of myself and breathe fully and I hope my love of yoga and what it can do transfers on to others, whether you are new to yoga or have been practicing for years.
