The final round of our Halloween bake off took place on Friday, with Ellie and Kieran sharing their spooky creations 👻 🍰 !!

As delicious as they were, it’s fair to say that we were all caked-out by the end of the week! Regardless, we truly saved the best until last, with Kieran taking home the crown with his delicious biscoff-based cheesecake 😋 👑

We’re thrilled to announce Kieran as the latest addition to . He joins us from a firm in Cornwall, having relocated to Somerset with his partner.

Kieran joins us as an Accounts Assistant, with his AAT qualification study ongoing (when not concentrating on his Halloween bake!).

Welcome to the team, Kieran!

It’s set to be a ghastly week for most of us “non-working” people, so is focussing on the important stuff: a Halloween-based bake off! 🎃 👻

The rules are simple: bake something scary and get scored 1-5 on taste 😋; scariness 😱; and presentation 😎. And a bonus 5 points goes to whomever wins the social media vote 🗳!

It’s a sad day today at WD HQ, as we say farewell to one of the OGs 😢.

After 5 years with us, Alex is taking a career break to travel the world, starting with the Big Apple (he wants to prove that he can eat one in under 10 seconds 🙄). Enjoy it, Al!

Alex has been a huge part of the WD team and someone who we will never be able to replace.

In other news, we’ll be announcing a new addition to the team early next week.

For his inaugural learning lunch presentation, Alastair delivered a thorough rundown of CGT on residential property disposals; a complex topic for a first timer - good work!

Congratulations too to Ernesta who was voted August’s Employee of the Month!

They did it!! Congratulations to Ernesta Grabyte, Alex Izatt, and Nick Walpole on completing the South West Ultra March Challenge!! 🙌🏼

It was a gruelling trek with a 1,600m overall elevation and some very tired legs and feet at the end, but the guys stuck together and got over the line in time. An excellent effort! 👏🏼🏅

We’re now just £103 away from our fundraising target for the amazing PROMISEworks, so for one final time (promise!) we should really appreciate any donations that help us get there.

After a well earned break, we’ll soon be announcing our next event raising awareness for our fantastic Charity of the Year - watch this space! 👀

Join and the team at PROMISEworks in Minehead tomorrow for our Geocaching Adventure! The event aims to help raise awareness of the great job that they do in supporting vulnerable young people in Somerset with their mentoring programme.

We look forward to seeing you at 10am at Minehead Railway Station Car Park and sharing an ice cream on the beach 🍦🏖!

Just two weeks to go before the WD Geocaching Adventure in support of our Charity of the Year, PROMISEworks.

Never done (or heard of?!) geocaching before? It’s a simple concept: use an app to locate items (“caches”) left behind by previous walkers and, if you find them, record your achievement before placing it back for the next adventurer! And if you’re struggling to find it, use the helpful hints or user comments to narrow it down.

Geocaching is a popular activity for the young people supported by PROMISEworks, and enables mentors to get them outdoors and active during their time together.

If you’re interested in becoming a PROMISEworks mentor, pop along on 3 August and hear a little more about what it involves.

In preparation for her epic ultra challenge on 3 August, Ernesta put in some hardcore training hours on Saturday morning, climbing the stunning Pen Y Fan in her new walking boots. Starting at 4:45am, the 5.6km climb took her just shy of 2:40 - a great effort!!

Now just do the same, 10 times…🤪😜

PROMISEworks

We are so excited to announce our charity challenge for 2024, and the second in our series of events in support of the work done by the fantastic PROMISEworks – and this time, it’s a double header!! 💪 🚶‍♀️

For those looking to support the charity but would rather donate their time, join members of and Promiseworks this August for our Geocaching Adventure around Minehead; a 13km route across part of the beautiful South West Coast Path.

Geocaching is a favourite activity for many of the vulnerable young people who Promiseworks helps and a really useful way of keeping them active whilst sharing some time with their mentors. Whether you’re interested in becoming a Promiseworks mentor and would like to hear more about what it involves, or just fancy spending a sunny Saturday at the coast, we’d love for you to join us! 🌞

This afternoon, Alex enjoyed Dutch waffles topped with English corned beef, French onion soup, and Spanish tapas skewers. Yum yum 😋

To follow, Al will be celebrating the rich cuisines of Spain 🇪🇸 and Italy 🇮🇹 by dipping garlic bread in cold, cold gazpacho 😋 (a lack of cooking equipment at WD HQ is your blame for this one 🫣!)
