HETAS certified woodburner installer in Taunton and Somerset area.

We were asked to replace a large old inefficient woodburner in a cottage in Taunton. We initially removed the old woodburner to be later scrapped t JC Thomas and Sons in Taunton, before preparing the uneven hearth for the new woodburner.

The Ecosy Panoramic 5kW multi-fuel stove is the perfect stove for the size of the room and recess and looks great. We are HETAS certified woodburner installers and many stove brands state only HETAS installers can install their products. For you piece of mind we would always recommend you use a HETAS woodburner installer.

The cottage chimney required a new chimney pot, which we supplied and installed. The chimney cowl is fixed to the top of the chimney pot and protects against both birds and rain and also the flexible liner is suspended from the cowl.

The customer was very pleased with the final result and impressed how quickly the stove heated up and size of viewing area of the glass. We generally keep both Ecosy Panoramic multi-fuel and wood only panoramic woodburners in stock, alongside many other models and brands of woodburners.

Convection Woodburner Installation with Twinwall Chimney in Netherstowey

This project involved installing a Mendip Churchhill 5kw convection woodburner with log store using a twinwall chimney system in a property in Netherstowey near Bridgwater.

The Mendip Churchill convection 5kw woodburner with log store is the perfect stove for heating a large room or multiple rooms due to its unique convection heating system. This convection stove draws air in through the gaps around the body of the stove, heats the air and then circulates the air back outwards. Whereas most wood burners use radiant heat, which projected in straight lines from the stove body and generally heats the area within close proximity. Another key aspect of this convection woodburner is the small distance to combusibles, which for the Mendip stove is only 100mm off the back and sides of the stove.

Mendip Stoves also offer the larger 9.5kw ‘Churchill 10’ woodburner for larger open plan or timber frame rooms, these woodburners come with a 10 year warrenty and is one of our favourite brands of woodburner due to its build quality and customers ease of use.

This property was built before 2008 and therefore doesn’t require any additonal ventilation for a 5kw Mendip Churchill convection woodburner. However, the larger ‘Churchill 10’ has a 9.5kw nominal heat output, so would require addtional ventilation as above the 5kw HETAS regulations. Addtional ventilation generally consists of coring a hole through the wall and installing a ventilation kit.

A log store gives more presence to the woodburner, especially if positioned centrally along a wall and also eliminates the need for a addtional log basket or wood store if positioned in the corner of room. We supplied and installed a black Brazillian slate hearth and cut to fit the width and depth required in order to minimise the hearth size and impact on room space.

We always use a black powdered twinwall chimney system to visually compliment the woodburner, while it also reduses the chance of rust or water stains and increases the visual longevity when compared to a stainless steel chrome twinwall system.

Fireplace Renovation and HETAS Woodburner Installers in Taunton

This project involved a renovation of a fireplace and installation of woodburner in a 1930’s property in Taunton, Somerset.

We initially knocked out and enlarged the small fireplace whilst installing a new lintel to support the chimney breast. We focused on the tiling once the Brazilian slate we supplied had been cut to size and installed. The customer supplied the blue tiles, which we tiled on to fireboard and grouted the following day. We bonded and plastered around recess then our customer painted to finish. We removed all rubble and left the room clean and tidy.

HETAS Inset Woodburning Stove Installer in Exeter
This project involved installing a Carron Darwin inset woodburner in a property in Exeter.

Inset woodburners can be the solution to installing a stove in a small room where space is limited, due to their compact design and small hearth requirements.

The old gas fire, marble back and wood surround were removed to reveal a large recess, which we reduced by building a brick chamber to enclose the outer casing of the inset woodburner. Inset woodburners generally require a 300mm hearth extended in front of the door, allowing us to reuse the current marble hearth. We then bonded and plastered the front of the chimney breast to a flat finish before installing the inset woodburner.

This woodburner installation and fireplace renovation was completed in a property in the beautiful village West Buckland near Wellington.

We initially removed the existing wood surround etc and enlarged the fireplace to its original size, whilst installing a new lintel and slate hearth we cut to size. We installed a flexiable stainless steel; liner and galvanised steel registration plate before rendering the inside of the recess with sand and cement and bonding and plastering the bottom half of the chimney breast.

Fireplace Renovation and Wood Burner Installers in Minehead

We specialise in fireplace renovations and wood burner installations in Minehead and surrounding area. This project involved removing the existing hearth and mantel and enlarging the recess to accommodate an Ecosy Panoramic wood burning stove.

We increased the width of the fireplace recess by over 200mm to allow air to circulate around the large Ecosy Panoramic wood burner. We installed a new concrete lintel and rendered the inside of the recess with sand and cement to protect against the heat, whilst bonding and plastering the face of the chimney to finish. We supplied and laid a slate hearth to cover the damaged floor area left by the old hearth and installed a Carbon Monoxide alarm as standard.

Enlarge fireplace and Install Woodburner in Glastonbury

We were asked to remove an old woodburner with back boiler in a property in Glastonbury.

We initially remove the rubble and back fill to expose to original fireplace. The old back boiler stove was capped off and drained before we arrived.

The recess is rendered with sand and cement to protect against the heat of the woodburner, whilst the exterior was bonded and plastered to finish and ready to paint.

We no longer install old second hand stoves to new SIA clean are strategy regulations being enforced in 2022. The latest generation of woodburners are a different league in efficiency and produce over 80% less particulate emissions than a stove 10 years old or more.
