It offers a variety of walks in Teignbridge welcoming all ages and abilities. Get walking, meet new people and explore the town and countryside all on your doorstep - you will soon feel the benefits that gentle exercise can bring! In Teignmouth we meet weekly at 10am at the Pier. You can join one of two walks here depending on how far you would like to walk. Level 1 walks are generally flat and ar
12 walkers plus Orla the dog enjoyed another super walk this morning…
The bus driver was persuaded to let us off the bus by the Labrador Bay car park …we then managed to negotiate walking back single file along the main coast road …passing traffic thankfully very courteous …nevertheless it was good to get off the main road and start the climb up the lane to the beacon/obelisk 👍🏻
At the top we stopped to admire stunning views across the bay and over to Dartmoor then began our descent down the lane…lots of lovely wildflowers in the hedgerows including scabious, knapweed and campion etc
We took a left turn off the lane and went on down a narrow steep lane which eventually brought us out alongside the river between Ringmore and Shaldon…from there we headed to the London Hotel for our refreshment drinks …those returning to Dawlish and Teignmouth either walked or caught the very late bus!
NB apparently some of our Teignmouth WTW walkers are not receiving the emails about future walks for some unknown reason ?
Details of our next walk on Weds August 21st
Secmaton Lane …3rd attempt at this walk ! Catch number 22 Dawlish Warren bus 10.20am from WH Smith bus stop or join bus en route.Walk from Dawlish Warren towards Cockwood …take left path before Shutterton Lane and walk along footpath by stream ie towards Sainsbury’s.Cross main road to Secmaton Lane and follow the lane all the way to Dawlish (avoiding the detour to 7 Sisters) Refreshments at the Strand Community Centre .
Dry warm weather for our walk this morning …6 of us went by bus as planned up to Hazeldown school where another 2 walkers were waiting for us . Our ninth walker was dropped off as we started walking up Breakneck Hill…I managed to resist the kind offer of a lift to the top 👍🏻
After our short steep walk up the hill we enjoyed a leisurely countryside stroll downhill towards Dawlish …extending the walk via the country lane with ford we walked on past the allotments and across the Manor park and along the waterside path to our refreshment stop at The Strand Community Centre before catching our bus home
Sadly there was quite a lots of discarded litter alongside the main back road from the top of Breakneck Hill towards Dawlish😡
Very hot weather for our Teignmouth WTW walk earlier today😓
As planned we took the bus to the start of our walk ie the bus stop by Langdon hospital …nine of us went by bus and another walker met us off the bus 👍🏻
We took a route we’d taken before ie a mainly grassed footpath bordering the hospital grounds which took us out into the countryside and on to Port Rd
The start of the path was somewhat overgrown with bracken , soft bramble stems and a few nettles …quite an adventure for our fearless level 2 walkers who’ve faced this overgrowth before 😮
However one walker turned back not far from start of path due to uneven ground ……
Part way along the path I spotted a pair of deer in the field below which our walkers also managed to see 👍🏻
We walked on down Port Rd where we were tempted by produce for sale at Devon Garden Trust ..some yummy plums, tomatoes and parsnips were purchased !
At the nearby bus stop we pondered about waiting for a bus due to hot temperatures then decided we could manage to walk on further via the lower part of Dawlish Countryside Park …we left the park by the lower Shutterton Lane exit and were alerted to a gate opposite which 2 of the walkers assured us the path then took us via the housing estate to our planned refreshment stop at Hope Church Community Cafe ..we had a lovely welcome at the cafe and enjoyed our refreshing drinks 👍🏻
Next Weds morning walk details are as follows number 80 Country Bus at 10.30am from WH Smith bus stop in town up to Hazeldown School or if you live in that part of town meet us by school bus stop…we are walking up the steep but reasonably short Breakneck Hill then down into Dawlish via the country lane with small ford ..it has raised pavement so we won’t get wet unless you want to paddle 🙂Refreshments at the Strand Community Church 👍🏻
Wow… some familiar faces of Teignmouth Walk this Way group led by Lorraine L ie before Neil took over 👍🏻
Teignmouth News 14.9.11 - walking groups 2nd anniversary
It was the curse of Secmaton lane again. A large tree had fallen down completely blocking the path from Dawlish Warren. 2nd attempt to walk back to Dawlish along Secmaton lane route scuppered. Plan B gave us two other large trees though which hadn't succumbed to the earlier storm.
20 of our Teignmouth Walk this Way walkers plus 2 dogs on leads enjoyed a lovely coastal walk this morning…leaving our bus at Babbacombe then walking along Bishops Walk through woodland then on up to our refreshment stop at The Kents Pub in Wellswood
Pathway in woods a mix of ups and downs with tree roots and buried stones to be aware of …nevertheless less we all made it safely 👍🏻
Weather warm and sunny so we we were glad of shade under the trees …views on the way down to Ansteys Cove and out to sea were beautiful…plus our drinks at the pub most welcome and very refreshing 🍻
16 of our Teignmouth Walk this Way group plus 3 well behaved dogs enjoyed a lovely 90 minute countryside walk this morning 👍🏻
As planned most of us caught the bus from Teignmouth to Exminster where 3 more walkers were waiting for us
Our walk took us past the Swans Nest pub then via the RSPB nature reserve to near the Turf Lock pub by the Exeter Canal
NB there’s a new wooden bridge at the far side of the field after you leave the bird reserve ..either the bridge isn’t finished or they’ve forgotten to add more steps either side as we came across a huge step to climb up and down either end of the bridge😓😓😓
We then had a lovely walk alongside the canal on the towpath ..this part of the walk seems to last for ages until you reach the steps down to the small car park …we then walked back down the country lane and on up over the railway bridge … and on to the nearby Swans Nest pub for our well deserved refreshment break drinks🍻☕️🍻☕️
Selection of photos from last week's walk to the Seven Sisters, Dawlish.
Lovely day weatherwise for our Powderham circuit walk …this morning there were 20 Teignmouth Walk this Way walkers enjoying the glorious weather ,beautiful scenery plus each other’s company of course👍🏻
We soon discovered the very boggy ground just before the wooden bridge ….I tramped safely though the 4 to 6 inch deep water in my wellies ,Linda with her strong walking boots was also successful getting through whilst the rest of the group took a detour to a dry path before we all met up again by the bridge 👍🏻
8 of the walkers walked on to Starcross to catch the bus home …a couple stopped off at the pub on the way🙃 the rest off us walked back to Powderham over the field route then on to the farm shop for our refreshment break😇
Last week's walk was rained off. Only two of us doing an alternative - simple stroll along the seafront where we encountered this
Lovely sunny spring weather for our walk earlier today
As planned we got off the bus at Ware Barton crossed the busy road and headed on down the country lane which leads on after a left turn to over the dual carriageway bridge
Another 2 of the walkers joined us by Longford Lane as they’d come by car
Missed out the usual loop via the leat ,churchyard and past the old mill instead we walked down Greenhill Way and into the Hackney Marsh pathways ..
Our stroll took us on to our refreshment stop at the Passage House Inn …saw couple of rats at the marshes and an egret by the side of the River Teign plus pair of white swans near the Inn..
Most walkers left around 12.30pm to walk back to the bus stop …walked on the footpath alongside the hedgerows back to where we’d earlier got off the bus 👍🏻
Others stayed on to enjoy lunch whilst sitting by the riverside 👍🏻
Another wash-out Wednesday so a short walk to Sprey Point and back with refreshments at the Riviera. Only 5 hardy walkers this week.
Dawlish Walking Festival is taking a rest in 2024 and will be returning in 2025! We are looking at options regarding the length and time of the year the festival should run. Watch this space for further news later in the year.

Despite the wet weather forecast there were 19 enthusiastic walkers and 3 dogs on our somewhat damp weekly walk this morning👍🏻
When we got off the bus at Marine Stores Stu and Geri were waiting for us …we crossed the road and after a brief welcome to several return walkers and a guest walker we set off along the lovely off road footpath down to Dawlish Warren .
Lots of social chit chat and people walking at various speeds as usual …just past the car park we stopped to gather together for a photo opportunity followed by another brief stop at the WC’s !
Alas the rain continued to fall so we were all rather bedraggled and by the time we‘d completed the walk along the sea wall to Dawlish we were in 3 groups …some of us headed back home on the bus whilst others headed off to the Strand Community Centre for refreshments 👍🏻
