Here is the recipe they used- https://www.recipetineats.com/cheese-garlic-muffins/
Reception are soon back to it with their baking! This week they have been learning all about the number 1 and today, have been making yummy “one flapjacks”. The ingredients were very simple…one tablespoon of oats, one tablespoon of honey and one teaspoon of butter!

Non uniform and cooking with Reception? Challenge accepted! Today the children have enjoyed making some pitta bread pizzas, if you listen to the end of the video…they also loved eating them! These were really simple to make but tasted just as good as the real thing 😋. We have already seen a huge improvement in the Reception children’s knife control and hand-eye coordination skills and are able to sprinkle, mix and cut needing very little support!
Pitta breads from Food Share Project, Discount Pallet Store & Food Bank - UK
Go and get some pitta breads…they’re free!
Reception will be using them to make some yummy pizzas tomorrow 🍕
Base 1 are back again!
And this time they’ve made the perfect sweet treat for the colder nights…crumble!😋
If you fancy making a “Crema Catalana”, here is an easy to follow recipe by Ainsley Harriott! 🍮

Last week Reception made their own chocolate apples. They practised dipping, spreading and sprinkling before getting to taste their yummy creations. Follow our video if you’d like to give them a try!🎇
Last half term the Nursery children had a wonderful visit from a lady called Sharon who works at our local Asda store.
Sharon had brought in some ingredients, all donated from Asda to make crumpet Pizzas with the children .
Both Sharon and the children really enjoyed this experience and especially enjoyed eating them.
At the end of the cooking activity Sharon presented the children with a fantastic play shop.
We can’t wait for her to come back soon!
Enjoy this simple recipe that you can make at home! 🎃
This video shows exactly what cooking should be like…fun!
A big thank you for our tomato donations and another big thank you to the children in Base 1 for making this delicious tomato sauce. Nursery have been cooking up a treat with it this week!
This sauce would also be yummy with Reception’s spaghetti spiders!
Recipe is in the comments 😊
Cooking can help young children learn and practice some basic math concepts, build language skills and develop fine motor skills. The experience of creating meals with you can help build their self-confidence and lay the foundation for healthy eating habits. ⭐️
Reception are back with their first guided cooking session and they had so much fun!
The children learnt how to hold a knife to carefully cut the sausages.
They then pushed small pieces of spaghetti through the sausages.
When cooked, the spaghetti goes floppy and the children thought they looked like little spiders…although some looked more like jellyfish or octopuses!🕷🕸
Calling all tomato lovers 🍅
We are going to be creating some delicious, simple recipes soon, all tomato based. This means that we are going to need a lot!
If anybody has any surplus homegrown tomatoes, we would really appreciate any donations! These can be dropped in at the office or Miss Cartmail’s room. Thank you in advance!
The Base 1 children harvested potatoes from the school allotment and learnt how to peel boil and mash them. They created a delicious cheese and potato pie! We have attached a simple recipe if you would like to try it at home 😊
The children in Base 1 enjoyed making cheesecake to share with their families.
We have added the recipe to this post!

Lots of families at Grange Park speak Italian and so the second day of the GP Bake Off, we have ‘Focaccia’ aka the modern pizza! 🇮🇹
Year 3 have baked this for Reception and Base 1. They absolutely loved it, some compared it to Subway bread and they were all asking for seconds!
Here is the recipe they used if you’d like to give it a try-

Hola!🇪🇸
Kicking off the Great GP Bake Off this week was Year 4. They made some beautiful Spanish Magdalenas (lemon cupcakes) for Year 1. We are especially impressed with their hand drawn flags!

This year has been different to say the least and we wanted to find a way of bringing the children ‘together’… welcome to the Great GP Bake Off!
Throughout the week, the children will be participating in some whole school baking, cooking together, for each other.
Whilst enjoying a feeling of “togetherness” we wanted to also celebrate the different cultures at GP and so we are going to be baking something a little different using popular recipes from different counties around the world!
A huge thank you to Asda (town centre) for providing us with all of our ingredients for this huge baking celebration.
