Patient Update -

To all our lovely patients I hope you are all well ,
We are continuing to offer emergency appointments and sort out as many problems as we can.

A number of people have asked about check ups, the advice currently is still to avoid routine appointments however I appreciate that several of our high needs patients and children may need to be assessed.

In order to keep everyone as safe as possible we are still working to a much reduced capacity so these appointments will be limited to the above categories to start with.

We of course hope to be able to see you all again as soon as guidance is updated and it is safe to do so.

If you or your children would like one of these appointments please contact us via phone or email and we will assess and offer appointments as appropriate.

We would also ask anyone with any outstanding treatment to contact us now for an appointment .

I will endeavour to keep everyone as informed as I can, please pass the message on.

All the best

Ben

Updated information

Dear All

We have been busy seeing as many emergencies as we can since we reopened , we now have all the PPE that is required to do most treatment.

We are still limited in some of the things we can do and we are still being advised by our governing bodies that in order to keep everyone as safe as possible it is safer to postpone routine check ups and non urgent care for the time being.

We are at a stage now where if you required any treatment pre lockdown or had these appointments cancelled during the time we were closed you can contact us for us to assess you and rearrange these appointments.

Due to the current regulations we are having to change our diary around quite a lot to allow sufficient time for cleaning and social distancing so if you have existing appointments for treatment that have not been booked post lockdown these will continue to be cancelled and we would ask you to call or email us to rearrange these should you wish to do so.

I know some of you who are used to seeing us more frequently who have a higher dental need or who have medical conditions that need regular examinations and assessments may be concerned that examinations are postponed for now but in the above case I would ask you to contact us for advice and assessment.

Hope you are all safe and well
We thank you all for your continued support and patience at this time

All the Best

Dear All

I hope you are all well and keeping safe, We are back at work seeing emergency patients for now, we will shortly have the additional PPE required for us to begin some aerosol procedures; which means when we are given the go ahead by our governing bodies we will be able to complete outstanding treatment required pre lockdown, we will of course update this page and our website when this occurs.
We are still delaying routine check ups and you may receive a cancellation message from us regarding this , we are as eager as you to return to routine care as soon as it is safe to do so but we must follow the clinical advice .
We thank you for your patience in this matter and ask that you don’t phone us to rebook these check ups for now as we want to leave our phone lines as clear as possible for any emergency patients and as yet are unsure when routine dentistry will resume . Examinations are likely to be able to be booked once we enter phase 2 of the governments COVID levels grading system.
Please be reassured that we are here to help should you have a problem during this time then please call us.

Stay safe
See you all soon

Notice to Happy Smiles Patients

We hope you are well and staying safe

We are pleased to announce that we are planning to re-open on the 8th June for URGENT face to face appointments that are pre-booked by phone or email.

We’d like to start by apologising for the disruption to your routine care. Although out of our control it has been incredibly frustrating for us; however, we are now able to begin a phased return to dentistry.

We have undertaken a risk assessment of our premises and have made changes to the way we will be providing your dental care. Please see the patient information leaflet on our website page https://www.happysmilesdentistry.co.uk/covid-19-/

This aims to guide you through our new appointment systems and safety precautions, we would ask you to familiarise yourselves with this before you attend the practice.

These modifications will help us to prioritise the safety of our patients and staff. The additional safety precautions will naturally slow the pace at which we are able to work, therefore, we ask for your patience during these unprecedented times.

In order to allow us time to treat emergencies and to maximise patient safety all routine examinations and treatment will continue to be delayed until further notice, rest assured we will inform you when this changes.

We do foresee that lots of you will want to book an appointment but please bear in mind that there is only one phone line into the practice and we need to prioritise urgent problems.

We will be unable to offer the full range of dental treatment until the high level PPE that is required is available. Utilising the information given by our governing bodies it is currently safest to perform those treatments that minimise aerosols - such as but not limited too temporary fillings and extractions. We are making every effort to source ppe that will allow us to increase our treatment options as soon as it is safe practicable and official guidance allows. In this early phase we may still need to refer you elsewhere for some treatment while we offer an urgent dental care service for those who are in most need.

We ask that all patients who are termed vulnerable or who are shielding to avoid coming to the practice unless absolutely necessary. If you are unsure as to whether you are in one of these categories, please follow the link below;

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/people-at-higher-risk-from-coronavirus/whos-at-higher-risk-from-coronavirus/

This is a dynamic situation that is ever changing. We will try to keep you informed to the best of our ability and hope it won’t be long before we can return to something like normality.

If you have any concerns please call or email us as we cannot admit people who walk up to the practice without an appointment. You can contact us via telephone on 01952825555 or via email on [email protected]

Thanks again for your continued support and patience

Important Patient notice - Please read and share with patients of the practice .

I’m sure most of you will have seen the news tonight (Thur 28th May), that the government has just announced to us all, the general public and dental practices alike, that we can reopen from the 8th June. We are pleased that we have now received a date to work to and can consider a route to reopen.

Patient safety has always been paramount, but never more so than in the current circumstances. We now have a lot of planning to do and changes to make, in what is a very short period of time.

Our first priority is to enable us to treat you all safely and keep our staff as safe as possible.

Given that the PPE we need is in short supply, and we are still awaiting previous orders to arrive ; safety procedures and social distancing require us to work in a completely different way. We will need to allow plenty of time for each appointment and treatment may require us to stabilise in the first instance.
Taking into account the PPE that is available, and also utilising the information given to the other United Kingdom nations it is currently safest to perform those treatments that minimise aerosols - such as but not limited too temporary fillings and extractions.

Please allow us time to study any guidance given by the government bodies on how to reopen safely once they have provided us with this information. We assure you that we will update and keep you informed as soon as we know.

It will take us time to clear the accumulation of unseen patients that require treatment and we will need to prioritise any urgent issues.

In order to allow us time to treat emergencies and to maximise patient safety all routine examinations and treatment will continue to be delayed until further notice.

We do foresee that lots of you will want to book an appointment but please bear in mind that there is only one phone line into the practice and we need to prioritise urgent problems. All messages and missed calls will be returned as soon is allowable.

Stay safe and healthy and thank you for your continued support and patience.

Hi Everyone ,

Just a brief update to say that the current situation hasn’t unfortunately changed . We are still taking your calls to offer advice and analgesia/ antibiotics/ advice as per the National guidance . We appreciate your patience during this time and realise that everyone is eager to get problems sorted ASAP.
As a profession in England We are still awaiting advice on when we can reopen safely and in what capacity we will be seeing patients . There is currently no timescale given for this and as soon as we have information we will of course prioritise people with urgent problems and get people seen as soon as we are able.
We are happy to help in anyway we can following the current guidance and we can refer the most urgent problems for assessment at an urgent dental care centre should it be required

Please bear with us during what is a very difficult time for everyone . We look forward to seeing you all as soon as we can .

Kind regards

Ben

Hi All,

Just a short update to say that generally the situation remains the same in that routine appointments are postponed for now . This means if you have an exam/filling or treatment appointment please assume it is cancelled for now. We are endeavouring to contact patients to rearrange and we thank you for your patience in sorting this .

We do remain open for emergencies for our patients . Please continue to contact us on our phone number between 9am and 5pm Monday to Friday where we can triage and advise as necessary.
For emergencies outside of normal hours please contact NHS 111.

We will of course attempt to update you as the situation changes.
Once again we hope you all stay safe and look forward to welcoming you back to the practice in the near future .

Thanks and best wishes

Ben

Due to current advice it is best to stay at home unless absolutely necessary , I have attached some tips to help with treating common dental problems whilst at home . We are still operating an emergency triage and advice line at the practice for our registered patients if you are suffering with one of the dental emergencies listed in the below advice in the orange box please call us as normal and leave a message.
Thanks for your understanding during this difficult time .
All the best

Coronavirus Update

Following recent guidance to the profession in keeping our staff and our patients as safe as possible all shropshire dentists are postponing any treatment and routine appointments unless absolutely necessary.
We are in the process of trying to contact and rearrange appointments in line with this guidance , as you can imagine this will take time so please bear with us . As ever this is a changing situation and guidance may change quickly.
If things improve we will endeavour to contact to move appointments forward .
We would also like to reassure you that in the interim we will continue to be at the end of the phone to offer advice and if it is deemed safe and in the best interest to see emergency patients should you need our help.

Dental emergencies include:
* Trauma including facial/oral laceration and/or dentoalveolar injuries, for example loss of a permanent tooth
* facial swelling that is significant and worsening
* Post-extraction bleeding that the patient is not able to control with local measures
* Dental conditions that have resulted in acute systemic illness or raised temperature as a result of dental infection
* Severe trismus
* Oro-dental conditions that are likely to exacerbate systemic medical conditions such as diabetes
If you are self isolating due to coronavirus infection risk and have a dental emergency you are advised to contact 111 and they will refer you to a specialist service.

During this time of reduced capacity we would ask you to call us between the hours of 9am to 2pm and leave a message if you require an emergency appointment stating your name, contact details and brief summary of the problem . We will then endeavour to contact you as soon as we can . We will not be opening reception in an effort to maintain social distancing as per guidance.

There is a plan being put in place for local dentists to provide a centralised emergency service for the whole of shropshire at selected sites . Following current advice -specialist masks and equipment are required for this purpose. This may take time and we will endeavour to help where we can to try and alleviate as much pressure from our hospitals as possible.

I hope you all keep safe and well and look forward to seeing you all soon when we return to normal services . I will of course endeavour to keep all our patients as updated as I possibly can.

Kind regards

Ben
