Sun Glow We provide the biggest tanning salon in shropshire ! We currently have 11 tanning cubicles with the state of art Ergoline, Luxura, Megasun & Ultrasun beds including 7 lie down and 4 stand up beds.

TUBES INFORMATION:-

We get asked most days about tubes, and so here's an update on changing, replacing, and using sunbed tubes !

Q1. How Often Are Tubes Changed?
Answer - The beds tell us!
Tubes come in various life spans from 500 to 1200 hrs.
The most common are the 500 hrs ( many red light tubes) , and 1000 hrs ( many of the top tubes).

Our average Tanning session time is 12 minutes, so you will get :-
2500 customer visits per 500hr tube
5000 customer visits per 1000hr tube

If we get a average of 20 customer visits per day per bed that means

500 hrs tube = 125 days ( 4 months) before tube renewal
1000 hrs tube = 250 days ( 8 months) before tube renewal.

So that's your answer:-

Red Tubes - c 4 Months
Most Blue Tubes - c 8 Months

Some beds are more and some beds are less popular, so it can effect changes by upto a month, but relax as they are changes whenever they are at life expectancy hours.

Q2. If a tube / tubes aren't working on a bed, does it affect my tan?
Answer - as long as no more than 2 tubes go out together, your tanning isn't affected ( see the 160degree Tanning tube picture).

Basically, every tube not only tans the area below it, but it also spreads its Tanning degree by 165%, so upto 2 further tubes each side!

SUMMARY - Dont worry if a fewer tubes are out. They do Not affect your Tanning Experience unless more than 2 tubes are out tigether, and we change our tubes very regularly!!!


Q3. If a tube is black at the end(s) , does it mean the tube is bust, or not Tanning properly?

Simple Answer - No! It's just carbonisation of the end.!! See below picture for detail...

Sunglow uses very high quality tubes that give a great tan, and we change them at, or before they are due. That's why our customers get such great tans!

Sunbed Benefits...

VITAMIN D - physical and mental wellbeing.

The average person needs around 400iu of Vitamin D to stay healthy.
15- 30 Mins of midday sunlight a day is perfect. For Dark skinned people a little more is needed.

Between October and February inclusive, the darker, cloudier days make that difficult to do...
Sunbed UVB produces Vitamin D in the same way as sunlight...with 20 mins of sunbeds giving the same Vitamin D as 30 mins of midday sunshine.
Sunbed production of Vitamin D is also shown to 'store' for upto 6 weeks, whereas vitamin tablets did not...

So for a healthy Vitamin D level, 5-10 mins a day is fantastic.... Or 3 sessions of 10mins+ due to the storage effect.

A HEALTHY TAN

Again, skin type plays a part in what you need.
The average person sheds 1 of 6 layers of skin every 48-72 hours.
Melanin is produced by the skin when you are hit with UVA and UVB, and it's side effect is Tanning of the skin.

So to maintain a long term tan, it makes sense to do approx 3 sessions per week, based on your skin type, and the bed being used.
Some customers prefer to do 5-6 Mins every day; others 10 mins every other day. Others do 15 Mins twice a week.

The key thing is regular, and careful use of sunbeds to ensure your body thinks you are in Sunshine so that it maintains Melanin production for your tan...

Make it a regular part of your lifestyle through the Autumn & Winter for a healthy Vitamin D level, and glowing tan!
30 mins a week ( slightly more for Dark skin people) is the goal...
