Nine intrepid pupils from Years 10 and 11 are spending a month in Peru with International. The boys are involved in 3 different sustainable community projects which will immerse them in Peruvian culture. They will also get to visit Cuzco and the Rainbow Mountains and trek to Machu Picchu.
Congratulations to Hannah W who was selected to ride for the England Mounted Games Association at the World Team Championships in Arezzo, Italy, last week and came away with a bronze medal!
Inspired by Prince Phillip, mounted games is an equestrian sport in which fast games are played on ponies requiring athletic ability, riding skills, hand-eye coordination, determination, and a competitive spirit!

Birmingham is a GCSE geography case study so Year 9 pupils spent a day exploring the city centre during Activities Week.
Pupils visited the Bull Ring, Brindley Place, The Library and Grand Central. The sun shone while pupils completed a number of fieldwork tasks including questionnaires, environmental quality surveys and a clone town test.
Year 8 has been studying the Dharmic faiths and were given the opportunity to attend the local Sikh gurdwara, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Gurdwara.
The pupils were shown what daily life for a Sikh consists of when attending the gurdwara; they learnt how to approach the Guru Granth Sahib Ji (holy scriptures) by bowing their heads, engaged in meditation and learnt about the Sikh way of life. They were also given the opportunity to learn about the Sikh dress code, in particular, the articles of faith for initiated Sikhs – the 5K’s.
The pupils particularly enjoyed the Langar (free food), a selection of vegetarian delights such as chapattis and daal, which was kindly cooked and served by the volunteers of the gurdwara. It was also lovely to see pupils volunteer to sweep the floors and wash the dishes, as an act of Seva (selfless service to others).
Special thanks to Mrs Simerpreet Kaur Gill for her words of wisdom as well as her son, Harjinder, one of our Year 8 pupils, who was able to proudly represent his faith and the duties he is expected to fulfil.
Mountain biking at Cannock Chase gave a group of Year 9 pupils an opportunity to experience what mountain biking is all about. The day was led by two qualified mountain bike instructors plus Mr Kaye, Mr Latter and Mr Fowler.
Some pupils had previous riding experience but some had never ridden bikes in this way before. They were all given some basic instruction that was then progressively put to the test throughout the day, starting with simple control techniques to practice on flat ground before progressing to more technical riding.
All students made fantastic progress and gained a much deeper appreciation about mountain biking and it was smiles all round - especially at the water splash!
Congratulations to Ethan K, Barnaby R and Ebs S who were selected to represent Shropshire at the English Schools Track and Field Championships which took place at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium at the weekend.
Special mention to Ethan who came 3rd in the U17 Hammer competition. Ethan was selected to carry the county flag at the athlete’s parade having been awarded the Lambert Trophy for best male performance at the Shropshire Schools Championships.
One of four trips that kicked off Activities Week yesterday: Year 8 visited Blists Hill at The Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust and immersed themselves in Victorian life, exploring the effects of the industrial revolution on the lives of ordinary people.
Dear pupils, parents and guardians
Unfortunately, the weather today is not going to make it safe or enjoyable for house athletics. We have a number of buses heading to the stadium and not school, from a number of different areas, plus there will be no catering on the main school site, so to that end we have had to sadly treat the day as if it were a snow day, so there will be no school today.
It will not be possible at this stage to arrange a day of online lessons, so unfortunately this will mean a day off school. There will be a staff presence on site for those pupils who cannot make other plans, and those pupils need to make their way to the Library on arrival.
Many apologies for the inconvenience, but we feel overall this is the best course of action.
Another fantastic year has passed in the senior boarding house.
To our Year 11 and 13 boarders; we’ve watched you learn, grow, face challenges, and achieve greatness. As you step into new adventures and move forward to the next stages in your life journey, please take on board all the advice and learning you have acquired here with us.
We wish you all the best of luck in your future endeavours!
38 very tired cadets got back last night from annual camp in Cumbria. They enjoyed putting all the skills learnt on Friday evenings into practice on the MOD's Warcop Training Area, including a night in the field.
This afternoon we will celebrate this year's achievements at our CCF Colours Evening.
It was wonderful to welcome Year 7 Grandparents to Adams yesterday. The afternoon began in the Big School Library, the heart and soul of Adams, with a short address from Mr Hickey and ended with tea and coffee in Paddock Hall to view the annual art exhibition, via a tour of the school.
The Eco Club harvested their potato crop last week for the Newport Show potato-growing competition for local schools. The potatoes will be weighed and displayed at the Show this Saturday, 13th July, in the Education Marquee and the results will be announced at 11am on the day. Good luck Team Adams!
Be sure to drop in to our annual Art Exhibition this week on Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th July. Open from 4-7pm in Paddock Hall with access via Beaumaris Road.
Showcasing all of the wonderful work our pupils have produced this year.

Welcome to Adams!
It was fantastic to meet all of our new Year 7 boys and girls on Induction Day. Everyone was nervous and excited in equal measure! After team building games, tours of the campus, time with Form Tutors and Heads of House, we hope the nerves are gone and just the excitement remains. Huge thank you to our Sixth Form Front Team and Form Prefects for running the day so well. Have a wonderful summer and we can’t wait to see you back in September.
Our new Charities Committee have organised a “Bright and Bold” M***i Day on Friday 12th July. The brighter the better; Hawaiian shirts positively encouraged!
There will be a foodbank collection for Telford Crisis Support and we encourage every pupil to bring in at least one item. Collection boxes will be placed around school and the Committee will collect on Friday morning.
Hopefully the sun will shine brightly too as there will also be an ice cream and lolly sale at break and lunchtime.
The School of Coding returns to Haberdashers' Adams this summer with their popular holiday club! Activities will include coding, robotics, drones, VR, AI plus sports activities each day.

Lower Sixth geographers completed fieldwork last week, staying at the Field Studies Council Rhyd-y-Creuau Centre in North Wales. Pupils explored the concepts of place and regeneration in the urban environments of Llandudno and Betws-y-Coed, as well as understanding the processes that have created the impressive glacial landforms of Cader Idris.
After practicing a wide variety of data collection and statistical analysis techniques, pupils then put theory into practice to develop their own title for the independent investigation that is worth 20% of their final grade.
The new greenhouse (thanks to Telford & Wrekin Council "Make a Change 11-18" competition) has been a game-changer for the Eco Club, providing a focal point for their work.
The Eco Committee have already used the greenhouse to propagate runner beans, peas, sunflowers, poppies, honesty and calendula. They are now starting to harvest seeds in the wildlife garden, from a variety of wild flowers, which they will then propagate.
12 members of the Eco Committee are attending the Schools Climate Change COP at Haberdashers' Monmouth Schools this week.
Our third annual Primary School Sports Festival took place on Wednesday at Longford Hall playing fields. Over two hundred year 5 and 6 pupils from 10 local primary schools competed in the hurdles, tennis ball throw, 80m sprint, target throw, speed bounce, standing jump and relay. Well done to everyone for taking part and doing your best on what was the hottest day of the year so far! Donnington Wood Junior School came in third place, Last year’s winners Moorfield Primary School took silver, and Lilleshall Primary School were our overall winners, doing the double after their victory in our Spelling Bee earlier in the year. Thanks to Mr Blount for organising a fantastic day and also to our 30 sports leaders for all their help.
Miss E’s favourite coffee mug was stolen yet again last week! Luckily our science technicians were on hand to deliver another forensic science lesson, giving pupils from Tibberton & St Lawrence Primary Schools the skills they needed to crack the case. After learning about chromatography, pH testing, microscopy, handwriting and fingerprint analysis, almost all groups then went on to successfully identify the correct offender!
Congratulations to Dylan T and Hugh G who competed at the ASA Regional Open Water Swimming Championships at the weekend against swimmers from across the Southwest and the Midlands. Dylan won the boys U14 category for the West Midlands and came 4th overall, swimming a 3km course, while Hugh came second for the West Midlands in the U16 category, swimming 5km.
Good luck to both boys who have qualified for the National Open Water Age Group Championships at Rother Valley Country Park on 27th July.
Our annual ON Forum, during Activities Week, is an opportunity for Lower Sixth to talk to ONs who are current students or apprentices or who have recently graduated or qualified. The Sixth Formers really benefit from talking to ONs who can give them a first hand insight into a subject, a university or an employer they are interested in.
Currently we are short on ON volunteers in many subject areas so if you are free between 9-11am on Thursday 18th July please get in touch with Sonya Wilson ([email protected]) who will be very grateful for any volunteers and can explain more about what’s involved.
We are delighted that over 100 children have already registered.
School hopes new partnership will 'help improve Key Stage 2 outcomes for disadvantaged children' A state grammar school in Shropshire has partnered with an online learning platform as part of its commitment to promoting social mobility.
The school lottery has managed to raise enough for our first purchase! Our librarian felt that the library needed more seating space ready for the arrival of girls so used the funds to purchase some reconfigurable tables.

In June, there is a bonus prize of a £1000 Amazon voucher.
Two teams, taking Business Studies at A-level, entered the CIPFA Sixth Form Management Games last week. This year the focus of the competition was the problems facing a fictitious university. The interactive business simulation game gave pupils an insight into the issues facing public sector organisations, particularly those of a financial nature. It also allowed participants to explore the challenges of teamwork, leadership and management within the world of work.
Huge thanks CIPFA for arranging and facilitating and to Keele Business School, Keele University for hosting.
Looking wonderful. Thank you.
On 10th July, we are opening our doors to the grandparents of Year 7 pupils so that they can better understand their grandson’s school days and feel more involved in their education.
Grandparents play an increasingly important role in their grandchildren’s lives, often being relied open for childcare duties, so this is a wonderful opportunity to include them in their grandson's journey at Adams.
For the Class of 2024 this is a throwback to 2018!
