I had the loveliest day yesterday baking, slow cooking stew, cleaning, flower arranging and just feeling all together homely. I haven’t felt that way for nearly a month with the dreaded Covid, but the steroids are doing the job and I feel like myself again…..which is bad news for as the plans start to percolate 😂🤣 also advent has just about left the building which always always from to breath again🎉

I may have had an extra spring in my step because I knew I was spending the loveliest of evenings with some very special friends❤️❤️ .from.cuckoo.land

Have a lovely weekend friends. I know I am🥰🥰

Good afternoon friends, a couple of weeks ago we launched our Goblins tea party collection and it was that same evening that I went down like a ton of bricks with covid. I know there was a problem with people checking out on the website with a message coming up that we didn’t deliver to that address.

I admit I couldn’t see the issue but equally I didn’t have the capacity to dig too deep🤒🤧 Thankfully we have amazing customers who did the digging for me, a huge thank you to Sarah W who had the tenacity to figure out which yarn was causing the issue and from there I have been able to solve the problem in 30 seconds! 🎉🎉🎉

We really do have the best customers thank you for having my back Sarah.♥

If you did like the goblins tea party it is now live on the website🎃👻🌟 i will show more of these yarns over the next few days as they really are stunning.

This gorgeous boy has kept a constant and loyal watch over me this last week as I have been quite unwell with Covid. It’s my first time catching the virus and I am glad to be on the mend. Still testing positive so strict isolation continues in our house. Thankfully our home allows us to do that as advent madness must go on for Nick who is holding down the forte fantastically ❤️🥰

Stay well friends, I have had every vaccine available and it still floored me😷

If you good down into the woods this Sunday it wont be a Teddy bears picnic you will be seeing! There is a goblins tea party happening 👻🎃🧙‍♀️🍾from his cabinet of curiosity the mischevious Lincoln Imp serves the guests a bubbling, steaming cup of witches brew.

Join us for an Instagram live this Sunday 4:30pm where will show the yarn up close as well as the samples. We have made socks in every new colourway and are thrilled with the results.

More to follow over the next few days.

Good morning Happy October😊 it’s a very wet and windy day here but I am on my way to work with a bucket of flowers and homegrown baby boo pumpkins and it makes me very happy.

We have a busy week ahead as this weekend is our first woollay retreat of the season🎉 where we will be showcasing our new yarn collection “into the woods”

I will be sharing pictures and samples this week and plan to do another IG live on Sunday at 16:30 where we can show all the goodies going into that evenings shop update.

22/09/2024

It’s dark, windy and the rain is coming down☔️
The winter scented oil is in the diffuser and I couldn’t be more contented 🥰

I have spent a happy hour at the sewing machine turning some cross stitch samplers stitched into hanging decorations. The stunning teddy plush fabric by acufactum is the perfect backing. I bought my fabric from and couldn’t recommend their shop more highly.

Some people come into your life for a short time, a season of fun. Others hang around for a couple years and then there are those that are by your side come rain or shine, the ones you can call upon at 3am, the people that love you unconditionally no matter what❤️

I am so fortunate to have a group of friends on my 3am list and today is all about celebrating our dear friend Gilly, someone I am blessed to know and love and have in my inner circle. ❤️🥰

Happy birthday 🎉🎉🎉🎉 here’s to many more adventures to come🥂🥂🎂

It is pretty unheard of for me to sit outside in the sunshine, but I managed about 30 minutes today before this English rose started to feel her pale skin fry! 😂

Photos from layfamilyyarn's post 11/07/2024

Good morning how are you all. Over on our stories we have been showing snippets from the studio and running a get to know us better Q&A session.

One of the question was what are your favourite colours to dye?

Nick’s answer was thunderplump, ironbridge, sweater weather and unicorn cake and here they are in all their glory.

I am currently knitting socks for Nick in all these colours for his advent Sunday pressie this year, 🧶🧦
I might have to keep the unicorn cake ones though😉

Mmm Wednesday work day are always my fav. A slow start with a bit of baking for this evenings crafty get together. Tonight we are starting a sock along, some are learning to knit socks and some of us are trying new techniques but either way it will be done over chocolate brownies, tea and much laughter.

Ta dah, may we introduce you to the magical mystical ‘Wonderland Walk’

If you know you will know Alice in Wonderland and walking are two of Ali’s favourite things. The name is as perfect as the yarn itself and is live on the website.

Good morning freinds, happy Sunday. It’s shop update day for us (4pm BST) which always brings a level of nervous energy - another side to the business our guest dyers have experienced as they too feel the nerves massively! 😳

will have a vlog of her yarn dyeing weekend live on Youtube at 4pm too which is when we reveal the chosen colourway to you….. it is truly amazing, Ali acheived a complex depth of colour with speckles to perfection!👏👏

Tonight shop update literally includes all my favourite things🥰 layfamilyyarn and friends release, project pouches which I am so proud of, happy scrappy bags of yarn and a re-stock of all the yarns I have been knitting on over the spring/summer.
Have a swipe ➡️to see all the things😊

Have a great Sunday, I am going to the allotment to pick peas, potatoes, carrots, onion, garlic, herbs and rhubarb for a special Fathers Day lunch♥️♥️

Photos from layfamilyyarn's post 14/06/2024

Happy Friday folks, are you say down with your crafting already?
Thank you for all the lovely comments and enthusiasm for our new project pouches after yesterdays post, I really appreciate it🥰😘

I thought today I would share the pick and mix mini’s we have paired with the bags.

These will launch in Sundays shop update at 7pm along with a restock of some popular colour ways as well as our new layfamilyyarn and friends yarn😀🎉

Wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead x

Good morning! We have had such a lovely couple of days with Ali dyeing yarn.
We have chatted until we could chat no more, smilled and laughed until our cheeks hurt😀 ate cake 🍰and choc 🍪 drank plenty of tea 🫖 with the occasional tipple 🍷too, we enjoyed a knit 🧶 and matter in the pub with friends, shared recipe ideas and cook books📖 and generally had the most wonderful time.

I can honestly say spending time with Ali was exactly how I hoped it would be, she is as wonderful in real life as she is on the YouTubes! And her yarn dyeing skills are spot on too! I think you are all going to be in love with her 🧶 and surprisingly not a drop, not one little wonderful drop@of yellow dye was used!😮💛💛

Good afternoon friends it’s been a while! Well our month off work is drawing to a close, just this last weekend left then back to it on Monday, which Nick and I are really looking forward to.

While on holiday I had the pleasure of test knitting the ✨pitchy patchy cowl ✨by and today is release day🎉🎉

I have never undertaken intarsia before nor frankly had a desire to learn but this cowl caught my eye immediately, and it didn’t disappoint. I have cast on a second one and I am going to play around with floof!!!

Thank you for letting me test this pattern Tamy, it’s been a pleasure.

Good afternoon beautiful people, after all the excitement and nervous cleaning over the last day or two it’s nice to settle down with pen and paper and start putting all the final plans for together.

Will we see you there?

We will have all the new spring collection there including the sold out thunderplump and Apricot lemonade cosmos.
Feel free to comment below if there is a colour you would like to see there and we will see what we can do.😊

loves nothing more then when I give him a list of things to be dyed for the day😉

Tonight at 7pm we are launching our Weekly Yarn advent, as with any kind of advent launch I am a bag of nervous energy as well as excitement🤪

Our weekly advent is a celebration of yarn focusing on special luxurious fibre blends, this is not a mini skein advent. Instead you will open an individual parcel each week leading up to Christmas.♥️🎄

All the details of the yarns included in each weekly parcel will be on the listing as well as what else you can expect.

By Christmas I will going on a cold and frosty (hopefully) walk in a new hat, cowl, mittens and socks💕👏

Photos from layfamilyyarn's post 13/04/2024

Good morning friends happy weekend. We are delighted to have finalised the ideas that have been brewing for our 2024 advent boxes.

Our Hot Chocolate at the Christmas market box will be a celebration of yarn presented to you in four packages our intention is to open one a week on the lead up to Christmas.

The packages are as follows:

A palate pack of mini skeins (10x 10g) and a skein of fluffy yarn with a cowl pattern included.

A mitten kit, the pattern which will be included is simple but effective way to showcase the luxurious yarns used within.

A hat kit, stunning yarns with the some added luxury a bit of bling and a pompom.

A sock set of yarn, 100g of sock yarn and contrasting mini skeins.

We hope you are as excited for this offering as much as we are; listing will go live Wednesday 17th April as a pre-order. The cost will be £140.00 and there will be pay in full or instalments available.

Pictures are for representation and colour inspiration only. X

I have been taking part in the April walking challenge and we have had a lovely week so far.

There has been mud, mud and more mud but also glorious riverside, woodland, canal and countryside walks.

Getting outside and walking really is good for the soul.
