Endpapers: The pages glued to the inside covers, often decorated or coloured.
Spine: The backbone of the book, literally! It holds everything together and makes it easy to find on your shelf.
Headband and Tailband: These colourful bands are stitched at the top and bottom of the spine, adding strength and style.
Dust Jacket: A removable paper cover that wraps around the hardback with artwork and blurbs that catch your eye and tease the story within.
Sewn Binding: Unlike paperback books, hardbacks often have sewn signatures, which are groups of pages stitched together for durability.

Happy World Environment Day! 🌱📜 Did you know that choosing the right paper brands for your product can have a huge impact. See below facts to bear in mind:

1. FSC™ or PEFC™ certified papers: Sustainable Forest Management helps to preserve biodiversity and protect our forests. FSC™ & PEFC™ are two well known organisations that operate robust schemes which track wood and wood fibre supply chains from the forest to the consumer, they help to ensure the conservation of natural habitats for plants and animals, as well as respect for the rights of forest workers, local and indigenous communities.

2. Paper production can have a high carbon intensity, so choosing mills that use renewable energy can help reduce that carbon intensity significantly.

3. Paper is a natural and renewable source and one of the most recycled products in the world. Paper can only be recycled 3-4 times before the fibres start to break up, so virgin fibres from sustainably managed forests are essential to maintain the paper cycle.

4. Water is used throughout the paper-making process and mills are situated near renewable water sources such as rivers. Choosing mills that carry out suitable treatment of their wastewater, before returning it to source, reduces the environmental impact.

5. Managing sales demand for your product, too many can result in unsold products, which can increase wastage and too little can mean endless reprints.
