Mads & Moodle in Thame, Oxfordshire offers a specialised casting service either in the comfort of your own home (location dependent) or in my home in Thame. We use completely safe materials to take a mould of your baby's feet which takes a short amount of time to complete and apart from being a bit cold should not bother your baby very much at all. We then use this mould to cast plaster replicas which are painted and framed to your unique personalised requirements.
Hello 👋🏼 it’s been a while since I introduced myself on here and I thought I would show my face and say “hi” and give a bit of history. I’m Jen Maslin and the founder of Mads & Moodle Life Casting Studio. I started my business back in December 2014 after my daughter Madelyn turned 1. I’d reached the point where I wanted to work and be creative again but being a mum to a young baby wasn’t going to fit with going back to my old career in the film industry. So Mads & Moodle was created and named after the nick names we called our daughter at the time. I have always been creative and I’ve been lucky enough since graduating to have had a wonderfully fulfilled artistic career. As I mentioned my career before Mads & Moodle was in the film industry as a prop and model maker which is where I learnt a lot of the skills I use today to create your beautiful keepsakes. To take the casts I use Alginate which is used in the prosthetics department on films to create casts of actors faces. These are then used to sculpt for example fake noses or chins or any of the other amazing prosthetic pieces created that are applied to change an actors appearance for a role. Plaster is another material I use all the time which is used in lots of the different departments including the miniature models department. Which I was a part of on quite a few feature films including Harry Potter and Charlie and the chocolate factory. Most of the Hogwarts castle model is made from plaster it’s a very robust material when used and treated properly. I love being able to continue to use the skills and materials I first learnt to use 20 + years ago and I am still learning and adding to my skills and knowledge now. The other photos are of me working on some miniature sets builds and looking quite a bit younger 🤣 -

Absolutely loved creating this for an old friend and her 4 year old daughter, a special moment in time captured and preserved. Baya really enjoyed the process and was very interested in the materials I was using to create the mould. I know this will be treasured for years to come. -

I was delighted to be asked to create this special keepsake to mark Darcie turning 6 months old. Her parents were gifted a voucher from friends and they were very excited to have me create this very special keepsake for them. I used a rose metallic wax to give this subtle pinky finish which works beautifully with the butterfly paper background.
As I mentioned yesterday on stories I have started another account for my Creative Casting workshops and Jesmonite Homeware makes. If you would like to come and follow me over there as well I would love to see you. It will be a bright and colourful place and I will keep you informed of all the exciting workshops I am running over the next few months.

Little Ronnie’s bespoke map frame, a beautiful keepsake that will be treasured forever 💫
⭐️ I am so excited to talk about something Amy Hutton from Monkey Puzzle in Thame and I have been planning for a while now and feel really passionately about. Since living in Thame I am always struck by the number of posts of people looking to meet and make friends locally but often how difficult this is to do as an adult. I have noticed since doing workshops how much more relaxed people are whilst making and creating so I thought the combination of an evening of making would make meeting new people much less anxiety filled and more relaxed. I really hope to make this a regular event in Thame possibly bi-monthly so please do share with anyone you think might be interested. ⭐️
⭐️ I would also love to hear from any local creatives 🎨 who might like to run one of the creative taster sessions in the future. Please PM me if you’re interested.
Anyway let me introduce the event:
Meet & Make
Are you new to the area? Would you like to make new friends or do you just want to try something new? Then come along to ‘Meet & Make’ - a creative evening where meeting new people is more fun and less pressure.
This relaxed event will include two taster craft sessions to keep your hands busy while the chat naturally flows. Refreshments will be available and there will be time for you to mingle in between the crafting sessions.
We plan to run this evening regularly with different host creatives leading the sessions, so there will be something different to try at every event. No previous creative or crafting experience needed, all welcome to come along, connect with others and have fun!
Book your place through the monkey puzzle website now.

I was asked to create this very special keepsake so there would always be a record of those incredible extra digits. This was my first experience of casting a baby with extra digits polydactyly and I had to approach it with care as a few of them were very fragile. I am so pleased I was able to create this for the family and love how the casts turned out. 🤍. -

Our Story
Hi, I’m Jen and I run and own Mads & Moodle in Thame, Oxfordshire. I offer a specialised baby, child and family life casting service either in the comfort of your own home (location dependent) or in my studio in Thame. I use completely safe natural materials to take a mould of your baby's or child’s feet or hands which takes a short amount of time to complete and apart from being a bit cool should not bother your baby very much at all. Your baby or child doesn’t have to keep completely still and even with the most wriggly of toddler’s I have always managed to get good casts produced. I then use this mould to cast plaster replicas which are hand painted and framed to your unique personalised requirements. Each piece I create is as unique as your baby or child and is bespoke to you, with your choice of paint finish, frame colour, background paper and personalised inscription. I hope that you will be able to choose a product you like from my wide range of options and will always treasure the artwork you purchase from me, and it will bring you many years of joy.
