We are very excited to be welcoming Ian Moore to the bookshop on Wednesday 19th July at 11am, he will be signing 'Death at the Chateau'. It is the third book in the The Times -bestselling murder mystery series, by leading TV/radio comedian Ian Moore! Perfect for fans of Richard Osman, Julia Chapman, or MC Beaton
'Cosy, quirky and wry, but most of all, hilariously funny!' JANICE HALLETT, bestselling author of The Appeal
'An engaging caper… It is finely paced, truly funny and written with a wry detachment that conjures up a gentler age of murder mystery' The Times
Richard Ainsworth's French B&B has been taken over by a production company shooting a historical film at the Chateau de Valenacay. But everything grinds to a halt with the sudden passing of an actor under suspicious circumstances.
To get to the bottom of things, Valérie d'Orçay and Richard offer catering services to the hastily resumed production. There they discover that the vanity, duplicity and murder of an 18th century French court is nothing compared to that of a 21st century film set, with more heads yet to roll.

Summer 1940. As the cuckoo sings out across the Lake District, life is about to change for ever for local boy Tommy and his friend Sally, the mysterious evacuee girl who lives on the neighbouring farm. When they find a wounded N**i airman in the woods, Sally persuades Tommy not to report it but to keep the German hidden. This starts a chain of events that leads to the uncovering of secrets about Sally’s past and a summer of adventure that neither child will ever forget.

Fantastic news for local talented writer, Charley Miles, we can't wait to hear about the Casting, and see it on our screens. Many congratulations to Charley!

So this THIS is singularly the most exciting thing to have happened in my life for quite some time (ok, maybe joint with July 8th 2021 👶). I am in a state of euphoria, joy, disbelief, gratitude that The Doll Factory has been greenlit for a major TV series with Paramount.
Buccaneer Media] have been a total joy to work with (♥️), and on the script is nothing short of a stone cold genius. All the themes of love, capture, empowerment, art, desire PLUS BONUS TWISTS!
And now my favourite game of dream casting is not actually a dream?? Will I actually melt when I visit the film set? All those characters and locations that just lived in my head, made real 🤯 (Plus, I have it on the authority that there might just be a small role for a Victorian baby… the bafta is all yours, you hot little newcomer, Arthur). Enormous thanks to Buccaneer Media] and for setting this up - I am now off to eat a treacle tart and clotted cream and just let it all sink in at last.
