Oxytocin is such an important hormone during labour. It kicks the whole process off. And we only make it when relaxed, calm and feeling safe. There are lots of things we can do to help us feel that way eg. darker room, relaxing sounds and smells, massage.
We discuss all the ways we can get the oxytocin flowing in my course. I am currently offering a 1:1 course either at your home, mine or on Zoom. Feel free to message to discuss! X
I am so excited to announce I will be at this baby event in Tunbridge Wells on 7th June in the Royal Victoria Place shopping centre. It’s located on the wooden area outside M&S. Would be lovely to meet some of you there at my stall! Stop by and find out what hypnobirthing is all about! X
Experiencing cravings at the moment? It’s all thanks to those hormones. With both my boys I wanted fruity sweets like skittles. What were/are your cravings?! Weirder the better!! Comment below 👇
You will find that people often ask when you’re due and one tip I give people is to keep it very broad eg. Oh I’m due the end of august. That way as you get closer to your estimated due date you won’t be inundated with texts and calls seeing if baby has arrived yet!
Did you know that only 5% of babies come on their due date? And most babies come between 37-42 weeks.
Baby will come when baby is ready!
😂 I saw this and had to post it! I remember all too well that feeling towards the end of pregnancy when I had to psych myself up to tie my shoelaces and anything that got dropped on the floor had to just stay there!
Morning sickness is really common in pregnant women, up to 80% of women experience nausea or vomiting in the first trimester. It’s all thanks to hormonal changes happening in your body. It usually eases around weeks 12-16 but everyone is different and it can carry on later into pregnancy. Here are some ways to ease the symptoms:
❤️ eat little and often. An empty stomach can make you feel worse so try and eat and drink little and often.
❤️try to avoid carbs like white pasta and white bread which can make you feel bloated.
❤️try drinking peppermint tea.
❤️try to rest and sleep, tiredness can make the symptoms worse.
❤️try eating and drinking ginger as they have natural anti-nausea properties. Either pop some fresh chopped ginger in hot water or munch ginger biscuits.
❤️drink lemon water. Lemon can ease an upset stomach. Try a slice of lemon in hot water.
❤️avoid rich, spicy and creamy food as this can irritate the stomach

There are things that we can do to prepare our body and our mind for birth than might help us to have a shorter labour. We can prepare our bodies to be as healthy and strong as possible and we can prepare our mind to remain calm and relaxed so the body can work to the best it can during labour. Have a look at these tips and tag a friend who might benefit from them!
I am currently offering 1:1 with women and birth partners to have a calm and positive birth. Get in contact with me if you are interested too! X
The breathing techniques that are taught in hypnobirthing can be used long after birth. I still use ‘in for 4 and out for more’ during times of stress. Whether that’s the school run, work, threenager tantrums or 6 going on 16 year olds!
Save this post for later and tag a friend who might need to know this!

Did you know that a home birth is a very safe option for most people. Up until the 70s most women birthed at home. It’s only recently with birth becoming more medicalised that the ‘norm’ has been a hospital birth.
Did you know that with a home birth you are more likely to have a less medicalised birth? ✅Home birth means 70% less likely to request an epidural
✅40% less likely to end up with an unplanned caesarean
✅50% less likely to have an instrumental birth (forceps or vacuum)
✅55% less likely to have an episiotomy
✅40% less likely to have a 3rd or 4th degree tear
✅60% less likely to require synthetic oxytocin
✅a reduced chance of postpartum haemorrhage
✅75% less likely to get an infection.
There are a few reasons you may be transferred to hospital during a home birth. Swipe to see.
I know we breathe hundreds of times a day without even thinking about it but how you breath can trigger a response in your body.
Think about how you breathe in times of fear-quick and shallow. And in times of relaxation-long and deep. Breathing long and deep triggers a calming response in our body and fills us up with lovely oxygen which is vital for our muscles and organs to work correctly.
This is why breathing in a relaxed way during labour is so important: it helps to keep you relaxed and fills our body with oxygen which your muscles need to work to their best.
I say breathe in for 4 and out for more. And keep your jaw relaxed…floppy face, floppy f***y 😂 give it a try!!

Having someone on your side to support you and help you is really important. It’s just as important they feel prepared and calm just like you so they can confidently support you as a birthing partner. That’s why I strongly suggest they join you on a hypnobirthing course. Your birth partner will learn about the process of birth so it’s less scary for them, tips on how to stay calm and support you, and different birth choices you need to make. Birth partners always comment how much more confident they feel and that they feel they have an important role to play.

I understand what it is like to feel apprehensive about birth. That was me when pregnant with my baby. We hear so many awful stories about it don't we?
Hypnobirthing changed that for me and left me feeling excited about birth. Honestly!
I love seeing this change in my clients too. Birth doesn't have to be something to fear and it can be an incredibly positive experience.
I'd love to hear in the comments what has brought you to this page and how I can help.

Everyone knows how to breathe, right?
Yes absolutely, breathing is an automatic process. However, we can learn to use our breath in a way which impacts our bodies and our emotions too.
During labour and birth this is so powerful. Learning simple breathing techniques can quickly place you in your parasympathetic nervous system. This is our calm and centred response and it is when we are feeling like this that birth happens more easily and comfortably.
Sounds good?

So many things change when you’re pregnant and not all of them great! You can feel like your body doesn’t belong to you anymore and you have no control!
I am running hypnobirthing courses in January and February both on zoom or in person in my home in Tunbridge Wells. I also have a free taster session coming up.
If you feel like birth is overwhelming and out of your control then I can help! I can teach you techniques to remain calm and have the birth you want-however that is. Message me for info x
During pregnancy you may experience your body doing some crazy and wonderful things. How many of these have you experienced? I remember my sense of smell being epic. It put me off coffee and I still don’t really like it now.
Tag a pregnant friend and see if they have had any of these!
Is your baby name on the list? Is there a special reason for the name you have chosen? Both my boys middle names are after special people in the family who we want to remember.
Tag a pregnant friend and give them some help-choosing a name can be confusing!
Seems crazy to be writing things in the diary for 2023. But my first free session of the year is 2nd January. Wondering what hypnobirthing is and how it can help you? Come to a 30min session where I will answer these questions and any others x
February dates have landed. Please message me with any questions. Happy to arrange a call if you want to chat through anything x
