Introducing a Tunbridge Wells skateboard community project - to raise £30,000 to construct new features and resurface areas of the existing skatepark in St.Johns.

For over 15 years, the ‘Skate Garden’ has been a cherished community space, bringing skateboarders of all ages and abilities together.

With the design of the original skatepark becoming mundane and some surfaces becoming increasingly dilapidated, the budget will be used to add a collection of novel obstacles to the skatepark and allow for some necessary re-surfacing.

With The Skate Garden becoming a vital community space for young people growing up in Tunbridge Wells, we hope that the redevelopment not only improves the skateboarding experiences of those who use it but further expands the community formed around the skatepark.

The designs and building of the new obstacles have been developed and constructed within the community of users to ensure local ownership and maximising engagement to ensure long-lasting and meaningful use.

Any donations are greatly appreciated by the Tunbridge Wells skateboard community past, present and future.

After posting on here about the rest of the team I thought I would share a few words from myself.😊

My name is Danny Abel and I am the founder of TWSL, I started the lessons back in August 2020 and It has been my sole focus of attention since.
The last couple of years have been a huge challenge for every business during these unprecedented times, but making my life long passion of skateboarding more accessible for those who would like to learn has been gratifying and I continue to feel warm inside knowing that I may have helped one more person get that spark I did as a youngster.
Skateboarding has helped me out in so many ways during my life, both mentally and physically and if I’m quite honest I could not imagine what I would be doing if I had not received that skateboard for my 6th birthday.
I would like to say a huge thank you for all of you who have supported me over the last couple of years and am really exited to carry on watching the skateboarding scene grow in Tunbridge Wells. I am hoping to do some sort of 2 year celebration event in August as I would love to get together and meet those of you who I haven’t and celebrate skateboarding in Tunbridge Wells!🛹😃
