Our experts have been advising against a dangerous new trend called ‘sunburning’.
Started by social media influencers, it involves exposing your skin to the sun, without sun protection, with claims of boosting health and healing acne. In reality, it can actually seriously harm your health long-term.
Unprotected sun exposure and excessive sunburn can increase the chances of developing skin Cancer later on in life, as well as prematurely ageing your skin.
Please make sure you stay safe in the sun (when it returns); apply high-SPF sunscreen regularly and stay in the shade or cover up where possible.

Our Story
The Melanoma Fund (formerly known as The Myfanwy Townsend Melanoma Research Fund) is a national melanoma dedicated charity based in East Grinstead and Tunbridge Wells. Our aim is to highlight the importance of sun protection, raise awareness of the need of early detection and ensure that melanoma is no longer our ‘best kept secret’ cancer.
Here at the Melanoma Fund we are passionate about creating impact on this terrible disease - because without this we are wasting our time our your donations! We have worked out that the most effective way to do this is to target high risk sectors of the community with language they understand. We do this via three highly supported prevention campaigns.
Outdoor Kids Sun Safety Code
We are the only charity in the UK working closely with a wide number of sports and outdoor organisations to help challenge existing sun protection habits in adults and develop healthy habits in children. Our aim to ensure that all outdoor loving children are adequately protected from the sun, blowing the whistle on sunburn! Visit www.oksunsafetycode.co.uk for further details.
Watch Your Back!
