I LOVE having my nails done, whether I paint them at home or go get a manicure.

The gel nail trend has always concerned me, and the latest news about gel nails potentially mutating your DNA is something I really felt I should share.

I heard this said recently as relating to our shared and individual experiences with Covid and it really struck a chord.

It's applicable to just about everything.

Everyone will be having a different experience with anything going on in their life: parenting, work, health, family. It's such a good thing to remember to let yourself own your own experience and not measure it against anyone else's, and to also know that others have things going on in their life that aren't experienced in the same way as yours, even though you may be in the same exact stage and chapter.

Self-knowledge is self-care indeed 😍

Do you ever wear your busy-ness like a badge of honor? I just came across this great phase called toxic productivity which I'm guilty of sometimes, and I bet you are too.

It's when you feel like a failure if you're not doing something productive. Sometimes even the conversation about self-care can make you feel that you're not doing enough to take care of yourself and that you have to be more productive in doing so.

The message at Self Care Sundays Box is that self-care should come with zero guilt. Have you heard of Niksen? It's the Dutch concept of doing nothing. It's the easiest way to fit some-self care into your day and combat stress and burning out. It's actually quite challenging not to attempt to do something for a few minutes. So worth it though. Re-center and re-group for a few precious moments, and then go back to your regularly scheduled programming. Not much will have changed, except the way you feel 😉

I’m guilty of it too. Staying up late so I can decompress from day with a binge-watch, a good book, or getting a second or third wind and really going for it with my to-do list. All things that aren’t contributing to what is probably the most important factor in wellness, good sleep.

I’m really making an effort lately though to turn out the lights earlier and let my body get plenty of deep rest. Whether or not my children let me is another thing, but I’m at least prioritizing it so that it’s possible that it happens.
