Chris Loder MP supports the Animal Welfare (Livestock Exports) Bill

This month has seen the introduction of the Animal Welfare (Livestock Exports) Bill in Parliament. I fully support this Bill, which will make it an offence to export live animals for slaughter and fattening from Great Britain. 🐖🐄🐑

I’ve been a vocal campaigner for better animal welfare and a patron of the Conservative Animal Welfare Foundation, and I’ll continue to work hard to enhance our existing world-leading standards through legislation. 🌎

The Animal Welfare (Livestock Exports) Bill will return for its Second Reading on the 18th December. 📖

Chris Loder MP leads debate on provision of broadband in rural areas
Great to lead a debate today on the provision of broadband in rural areas. Broadband ‘notspots’ in our rural villages and towns risk digital isolation and exclusion. I’ll continue to push for more progress in this field ✅🛜

Prime Minister backs Chris Loder MP’s demand for fairer preschool funding
This week, the Prime Minister backed by demand for fairer funding of West Dorset’s preschools. A new discretionary supplement will now be introduced in local authorities’ funding formulas to account for the smaller economies of scale in rural communities 🏫📚👶👧

Chris Loder MP hails next phase of Heart of Wessex Line upgrade
I recently visited the latest section upgraded by Network Rail on the Heart of Wessex Line. A considerable stretch of track between Maiden Newton and Grimstone has been renewed as part of a £1.2 million investment package by Network Rail to improve reliability and modernise infrastructure on throughout West Dorset.

I’m committed to tackling animal worrying through legislation. Over the last 18 months, I’ve been campaigning to ensure that the matter is included in legislation - I hope that this will start to take place in November 🐄🐑 #animalwelfare #livestock #farming

🗣️I recently spoke in the House of Commons to once again raise the matter of the Revenue Support Grant allocation for rural areas, such as West Dorset

⛪️ Recently, I raised the matter of Bishops in the House of Lords. In my view, Bishops risk becoming politicians that wear mitres. I was glad to raise this considering the many constituents who contacted me about this topic.

⛽️ Residents of Bridport and Dorchester have unacceptably had to pay up to 20p per litre more for fuel. 💷 While The Competition and Markets Authority released its final report this week, the recommendations do not address rigorous yield management by the supermarkets. 🗣️ I will meet with the Minister to take this issue further.

🚨 On Friday, I was in Lyme Regis for the re-opening of the Police Station Enquiry Desk, which will make reporting crime more accessible for residents and tourists @pccdorset @dorset_police #police #crime

🦷 🪥Earlier in the week, I led a debate on the topic of NHS dentistry in the South West ⛔️ Many people in West Dorset experience unacceptably low access to routine and emergency NHS dental services ✅ I strongly outlined our problems in the constituency to Neil O’Brien MP, Minister responsible for dentistry, who was present at the debate

🦷 🪥Earlier in the week, I led a debate on the topic of NHS dentistry in the South West ⛔️ Many people in West Dorset experience unacceptably low access to routine and emergency NHS dental services ✅ I strongly outlined our problems in the constituency to Neil O’Brien MP, Minister responsible for dentistry, who was present at the debate 🗣️ There was plenty of positive representation from other MPs across the South West, including Simon Jupp MP and Selaine Saxby MP You can watch my whole speech here: https://youtu.be/0jabfJhihqc

🗣️ In the House of Commons today, I made my views clear on the @ukpostoffice decision to award bonuses to its executive staff. This is despite many postmasters having to personally subsidise their own Post Offices as a result of unfair transaction fees - a situation and practice I find appaling, and I have urged the Minister responsible to stop this from happening ✉️📮#politics #fairness @ukparliament

Yesterday, I visited Weymouth Station with Richard Drax, MP for South Dorset, to see the improvements made to the station after much campaigning. We met with representatives from South Western Railway, Dorset Council, Dorset Coast Forum, Network Rail and others. 🚝🛤️

🗣️ Last week, I asked the Rail Minister what benefits my constituents will gain with the awarding of a new #rail contract to SWR, and what improvements will be made to Dorchester South Station 🚝🛤️

🗣️ I welcome proposals to crack down on equipment theft in the UK. The Equipment Theft (Prevention) Bill proposes new laws to break up the business model for those who steal machinery to seek second hand - an issue we know all too well here in West Dorset 🚜🌾🐑

🗣️ The people of West Dorset and the wider county are faced with one of the highest rates of Council Tax in the country 💷🏠

🗣️ Earlier in the week I emphasised the need for greater funding for land-based apprenticeships, such as those offered by Kingston Maurward College in West Dorset
