Cllr Peter Male - Woodlands Ward, Coventry
This page is dedicated to my activities as a Coventry City Councillor, representing Woodlands Ward.
Eastern Green - Flooding
I have called upon Coventry City Council and the Environment Agency to offer residents a solution to this ongoing problem.
Storm Henk breaches flood defences in Coventry as water pours across road Calls have been made for a complete 're-think' of the flood defences
Allesley Green - Carols in the Close
It was great to support Allesley Green Residents’ Association last night with Cllrs Gary Ridley & Julia Lepoidevin at their annual Carols in the Close.
A great opportunity to catch-up with residents and enjoy a glass of mulled wine & a mince pie.
The carols were led by local residents and enjoyed by all. A great Christmas tradition.
Promoted by Peter Male at Coventry Conservatives, PO Box 6390, Coventry CV3 9LZ.
Allesley Green - Quiz Night
It was fantastic to support the Allesley Green Residents’ Association annual quiz night at Jaguar Social Club yesterday evening.
Our team didn’t win the quiz, but we had a good night on the raffle.
Good to catch up with residents at a great community event.
Remembrance Sunday
An honour to join the Remembrance Sunday Service at the War Memorial Park this morning. A large crowd braved the rain to support this important event.

Tile Hill - Ponderosa Footpath
It is fantastic to report that work will commence on a footpath around the Ponderosa very shortly. This will be a fantastic improvement for residents in Tile Hill and the wider Woodlands Ward community.
Back in August 2021 I raised a petition, in response to calls from residents, calling upon Coventry City Council to install a footpath around the Ponderosa in Tile Hill.
In Oct 2021 I presented my petition to Full Council.
In Feb 2022 I outlined my petition to the Cabinet Member. Unfortunately, my petition was rejected.
But, we didn’t give up hope and continued to seek alternative funding.
Mount Nod - Alderminster Rd - Traffic Calming Petition
I attended a Cabinet Member meeting this afternoon in support of my petition calling for traffic calming measures on Alderminster Rd.
Unfortunately, the number of road deaths or recorded accidents on this stretch of road do not meet the Council’s criteria for intervention. This is despite two significant incidents recently that have seen vehicles crash into residential properties causing significant damage and danger to the public.
However, I welcome comments from the Cabinet Member who agreed to defer a decision and to consider data from vehicle activated signs (VAS) on Alderminster Rd and to conduct further speed surveys along the stretch of road adjacent to the shopping area.
I will update further as soon as I am able.
5G Phone mast application - Tile Hill Library, Jardine Crescent
I have formally objected to this planning application and referred the matter to Planning Committee. The existing design is completely unsuitable. At 20m, this mast would tower over its surroundings.
More details on the application are available here: https://planandregulatory.coventry.gov.uk/planning/index.html?fa=getApplication&id=269275%20
CITY CENTRE - PARKING CHARGES
Coventry City Council have decided to increase City Centre parking charges in the evenings and on Sundays.
Coventry Conservatives are opposing this move that will add further misery to traders in the city centre.

Nitrous Oxide to be Banned
This is great news for Woodlands Ward as there are several locations throughout the ward that are blighted by discarded canisters.
Hopefully, the police will now have the tools to tackle this problem.
📢 BREAKING: Nitrous oxide to become an illegal Class C substance by the end of the year.
We are cleaning up our streets and tackling anti-social behaviour. Those in unlawful possession could face up to two years in prison or an unlimited fine.

Number 82 bus service
At a recent residents meeting a request was made for the number 82 bus service to call at Woodridge Avenue. As a result, I made representations to Transport for West Midlands and I'm pleased to say they've agreed to the suggestion.
From September the number 82 will now call at Woodridge Avenue. Full timetable details are to follow.
This is a great result and couldn't have happened without the support and enthusiasm shown by the Allesley Green Residents Association. More information is available here: https://www.coventryconservatives.com/news/councillors-welcome-improved-bus-service-allesley-green

Potholes & Pavements
The Conservative Group presented a motion at Full Council this week raising concerns about the poor state of roads and pavements across our city.
In contributing to the debate I highlighted issues affecting Woodlands Ward and asked the Cabinet Member to address these issues as a matter of urgency.
Pavements - Wellesbourne Road
Another day but same problems with pavements! Today I met local resident Dave Bullman who showed me another set of cracked, uneven & wobbly pavements on Wellesbourne Rd.
I have again asked for these to be repaired as a matter of urgency.
Tile Hill - Fallen Tree
I have reported a fallen tree behind the Nisa store off Jardine Crescent to Citizen Housing and to Coventry City Council.

Woodlands Ward - Local Election 2023 Result
I would like to thank everybody who voted for me last night and who placed their trust in me to represent them for a further three years. It is a great honour to represent Woodlands Ward, a place where I live and work.
I would also like to thank my leaflet delivery team, Jane, Mal, Dave and Jude, and my ward colleagues, Cllr Julia Lepoidevin and Cllr Gary Ridley, for their support throughout a challenging campaign.
We have a great record of action in Woodlands Ward and I promise to keep up the hard work for all residents over the next three years.
Tile Hill - Damaged Railings
Great to see that the damaged railings on Tile Hill Lane, near Our Lady of the Assumption, have been repaired promptly.
Tile Hill - Fly Tipping
I have again reported fly tipping in Tile Hill asking Citizen Housing and Coventry City Council to improve their service delivery.
It is frustrating that this problem persists throughout the area.
If you would like to report fly tipping or missed waste collections, please get in touch.
Anger in Cov after fly-tippers dump rubbish near block of flats Waste has been left strewn near flats in Tile Hill
Mount Nod - Speed Watch
Great to support this morning’s Speed Watch session on Nod Rise, Mount Nod with Cllr Gary Ridley, Cllr Julia Lepoidevin and members of our community police team.
Great support from passing pedestrians and a reminder to us all about speeding in our community.
