Potholes & Pavements The Conservative Group presented a motion at Full Council this week raising concerns about the poor state of roads and pavements across our city. In contributing to the debate I highlighted issues affecting Woodlands Ward and asked the Cabinet Member to address these issues as a matter of urgency.

Mount Nod/Eastern Green - Pavement Petition I presented my petition calling upon Coventry City Council to improve pavements in Mount Nod & Eastern Green at Full Council this week. Thank you to all who supported the petition.

Bannerbrook Park - Additional Lighting Petition I presented my petition calling for additional lighting around Bannerbrook Park at this week’s Full Council meeting. It is pleasing that Council officers and Balfour Beatty have repaired the existing lighting, and a productive meeting with Parks officers and members of the community police team agreed a positive approach to ASB.

Conservative Group - Alternative Budget I was proud to support the Conservative Group’s Alternative Budget, on behalf of Woodlands Ward residents, at yesterday’s Full Council meeting. Our Alternative Budget called for a reduction of 1% to the proposed Council Tax increase, by redirecting a small proportion of £12.5m of unspent Covid relief reserves. Our proposals were designed to support hard working households across our city during the cost of living crisis. The alternative budget also found savings that would have allowed for additional spending on priorities here in Woodlands Ward such as road & pavement repairs, road safety and the removal of graffiti. Unfortunately, our proposals were voted down and the Council Tax increase will now be the maximum allowed.

Ukraine - Anniversary I was proud to present the Conservative Group motion at Full Council this week. The motion sought to reaffirm Coventry’s support for the people of Ukraine as we approach the first anniversary of the illegal invasion by the Russian state. I’m pleased to report that the motion received cross-party support.

Eastern Green - Upper/Lower Eastern Green Lane I have raised the issue of the appalling road surface on Upper/Lower Eastern Green Lane with the Cabinet Member for City Services. The Cabinet Member reassured me that the Lane is on the list for repairs, but was unable to confirm any timings at this stage. I will update as soon as I am able.

Eastern Green/Allesley Green - Urban Extension In last week’s Full Council meeting I called for a moratorium on Greenbelt development ahead of a full review of the Local Plan. A moratorium would have provided an opportunity to reconsider proposed green belt development, particularly at the Windmill Village Golf Course and at Coundon Wedge. Unfortunately, legal advice suggested that a moratorium would not be possible. As a Woodlands Ward Cllr I continue to resist green belt development at Eastern Green.

Alderminster Rd - Traffic Calming Measures At last week’s Full Council meeting I presented my petition calling upon Coventry City Council to consider traffic calming measures on Alderminster Rd. Thank you to everyone who supported the petition.

Eastern Green - 5G Phone Mast Earlier this week I presented my petition with 366 signatures calling upon the Council to consider alternative locations for the proposed 5G phone mast on Sutton Ave. The petition will now progress to a Cabinet Member meeting. I will update as soon as I am able.

Special Meeting of Council - A Tribute It was an honour to pay tribute to our late Queen, Elizabeth II, at a special meeting of Council this afternoon. Please accept my error. HMY Britannia. May she rest in peace. God Save The King.

Allesley Green - Damaged Roads & Pavements. I raised the issue of damaged roads and pavements following the installation of utilities, particularly in Allesley Green, with the Cabinet Member, at last Tuesday’s Full Council meeting. I welcome the positive response from the Cabinet Member, in acknowledging the problem, and remain hopeful that a longer term solution can be found.

Ponderosa - Footpath Petition
Tile Hill - Ponderosa Footpath Petition I presented my petition in Full Council yesterday calling upon the Council to allocate funding to deliver a tarmac footpath around the outer edge of the Ponderosa. The petition will now be heard by the Cabinet Member. I will update as soon as I am able.

Woodlands Ward - Refuse Collection Missed bin collections are a long term issue across the ward in Eastern Green, Mount Nod, Allesley Green, Tile Hill and Bannerbrook Park. The Conservative Group, at Full Council yesterday, called upon Coventry City Council to test the market for refuse collection services. My contribution can be seen below.

Mount Nod - Debris in the Brookstray Following concerns raised by local residents I have reported the blockage on the Brookstray to Coventry Park Rangers asking if it can be cleared.
