Carers Week 2022: The COVID-19 pandemic had a monumental impact on unpaid carers’ lives – not only because of the increased amount of care that many provided, but because of the far-reaching effect that providing this level of care has had on unpaid carers. Many people also took on new caring responsibilities for their relatives and friends who are disabled, ill or older and who need support.
They need to be recognised for the difficulties they are experiencing, respected for all they are doing.
The closing date for Annual Grant Aid is this Friday, 13th May. Don't forget to complete your applications.

International Nurse Day 💞
Today would have marked ‘Wor Jackie’ Milburn’s 98th Birthday. The Newcastle United legend epitomised the old saying that when the Magpies needed a new centre forward they just shouted down Ashington’s pits.
As a young man he was an apprentice fitter in local Collieries and continued in the mining industry until 1948 combining the role with playing for Newcastle United. As a talented sprinter and footballer he went on to become a St James Park legend and all time top goal scorer until surpassed by Alan Shearer in 2006 (though none of his 38 goals in the war time league counted). That same year and 18 years after his untimely passing he was inducted into the English Football Hall of fame.
Jackie won 13 England caps scoring 10 goals, was a three time FA Cup Winner and an Irish league and cup winner. After a short managerial career he joined the News of the world as a journalist.
A legend forever. Rest in Peace on your birthday and all days.
‘Wor Jackie’ 11th May 1924 - 9th October 1988
