Places for Everyone
🌳Last night your two Tottington Conservative Councillors attended the Overview and Scrutiny meeting on Places for Everyone. 🌳I was shocked to still see the Walshaw site in the plans due to claims from Elton Labour last year at the local elections, that Cllr Morris after voting in favour of destroying our greenbelt had successfully campaigned to take it out of the plans. A copy of the leaflet is below this post. 🥀I asked the Leader of the Council to confirm that Bury Labour had lied to the electorate last May, I’ll leave you to decide whether he admits they did from his response.

🥀Once again Bury Labour blame everyone except themselves for their failings!

🌳 Following the recent decisions from the Labour Council to concrete over the land off Brownhills Close and their backing of Places for Everyone. 🗣️ Tonight at full council, I asked if any green spaces in Tottington, Walshaw and Affetside was safe under this Labour Council. ❌It may shock you to know that I didn’t get a clear response.

🌳 This evening my colleague Cllr Iain Gartside and I attended the planning meeting to discuss the application off Brownhills Close and Bury Road. 🗣️ I spoke on several reasons as to why I believe the application should be rejected, which you can view below. 🔵The Bury Conservatives Councillors on the committee voted against the proposals. 🔴🟠 Unfortunately the Labour and Independent members voted in favour and the application passed. 🌳 This once again cements my view that no green space in Tottington is safe under this Labour administration. 🥊 The fight is not over and I will continue to do all I can to campaign against this application!

✉️ Postal votes are arriving from today. 🗳️ This is why I’m voting for the fantastic Cllr Iain Gartside this election.

Tonight Labour Councillors voted to stop growth and job creations across the country. They voted to charge companies who want to have contracts with the council. Bury Labour do not support workers or businesses, we will continue to fight for them!

💡 Out again today speaking with local residents, something which has been highlighted is how complicated it is to report broken streetlights on the council website. 💡That’s why Bury North MP James Daly MP has set up a really simple system to report them. 💡So please, if you know of any broken lights, please click onto this link and he will get them sorted. https://www.jamesdaly.org.uk/campaigns/report-broken-street-light

🗣️ Out in Tottington again tonight speaking to residents. 🚙 ‼️Please Bury Council, build us our crossing! ‼️🚙

💡Out on Wesley Street tonight speaking to local residents. 💡They have raised the issue of broken streetlights with me, I will be speaking to the council about this to get them fixed as soon as possible. 💡If the lights in your area are broken or faulty, please contact me on [email protected] If you see me please say hello, I’m out all year, not just at election time!

This evening I seconded the Conservative motion at Bury Council. I know times are tough, but astronomical pay rises risking small businesses and pushing up inflation is not the answer! You can watch my speech here

🚙 At the annual Bury Council budget meeting, I pleaded with the ruling Labour Group for Tottington to get a road crossing. 🚙 I am pleased to announce that Labour have listened to me and Tottington will finally receive a crossing to make our roads safer!

SEN Hub
🏢The Bury North MP James Daly MP together with parents and carers across the Borough of Bury have been campaigning for a Special Educational Needs Hub, which would bring together all services under one roof to provide better outcomes and opportunities to those who require them. 🗣Last night at the Children’s & Young People Scrutiny Committee I asked the Council what options have been explored for a hub and how we can ensure we offer the best services for those with SEN in our Borough and their families. You can watch the clip here⤵️

🗣Last night I spoke in the Places for Everyone debate in the council chamber. 🌳I outlined why councillors should reject the proposals and that I believe in a local plan which protects the greenbelt. 🗳Unfortunately the vote was lost with all but one Labour Councillor voting to destroy our precious green spaces. You can watch my speech here ⤵️

It was an honour, if not a little scary, to give my maiden speech in the council chamber today. It was a pleasure to thank the retiring Deputy Mayor and Mayoress at the Mayor making ceremony.

🌞 Lovely sunny day in Walshaw, great to be out delivering leaflets and speaking to local residents. 🚙 Many residents have been speaking to me about the state of our roads. 🚧 If I’m elected and the Conservatives take control of the council this May, we will invest £1m to repair 18,000 potholes across the Borough including here I. Tottington, Walshaw & Affetside. 👋 If you see me walking about, please come over and have a chat and let me know what issues matter to you.

🌳 I’m in Affetside this afternoon delivering my leaflets for the local elections. 🌳 It’s absolutely beautiful up here and reminds me why protecting our greenbelt is so important. 🌳 If you want to stop these spaces being concreted over, vote for a Conservative controlled council on the 6th of May who will protect our greenbelt. 👋 If you see me in Tottington, Walshaw or Affetside please stop me and have a chat about the issues which are important to you.
