Remembering Ronnie

Page to share & support fundraising in memory of our baby boy, Ronnie, born 16th June 2022.

All money raised goes to the neonatal unit and maternity bereavement services at JCUH (Charity Registration No. 1056061)

A bit of spring colour in the lead up to a difficult week; Ronnie’s inquest 🤍🕊️ way too many feelings for a social media caption, maybe afterwards we can try and understand some of it, but I’ll never understand why him, why did our little boy have to die. He was perfectly healthy, and then he was gone.

Every year, in December our Chaplaincy team, supported by Our Hospitals Charity, hold an annual Christmas baby and children's memorial service for those who mourn the loss of a child.

This special service is open to families of all faiths and takes the form of a traditional Carol service, where families are invited to light a candle and hang an angel or star on our memory tree. 🕊 🌟 🕯

This year, the service will be held on Sunday 03rd December at 3pm, St Mary's Church Hall, Morton Carr Lane, Nunthorpe, TS7 0JU.

All welcome 🤍

@mrsnellis is lacing up her trainers for the Great North Run all over again We couldn’t have navigated the last 14 months without Leanne and Maisie’s guidance. Nothing can prepare you for arriving at maternity full of excitement and leaving without your baby, but certain gestures can lighten the load. The work of @maisies_hope is invaluable. One year, one month and one day after Ronnie took his last breaths, his little sister took her first.
Ronnie is already such a special big brother, and will always be a huge influence in our family life🤍🕊️

16th June. Ronnie’s first birthday 🤍🩵💙
1 whole year of loving our little boy.
365 days since we held him alive in our arms, before all tubes, wires and heartbreak. 1 day less since we cradled him as he took his last breaths.
I can’t remember what it feels like to wake up and not feel loss and sadness, and this week has been harder than normal, today being the hardest, which I wouldn’t have got through without some really special people. So grateful for the love and support.
Looking forward to celebrating our little boy’s precious little life tomorrow at his first birthday fun day. The support so far has been incredible, there really are some lovely people in this world 🤍🕊️

I struggle with Fridays, Ronnie was born on a Thursday, but it was a Friday that he took his last breaths.

18 weeks ago today, my son died in my arms at one day old.

No one can take away my pain, but YOU can HELP this community

Contact your MP via the link.

Ronnie didn’t get the chance to have his own voice, we have to give him it.

Please ask your MP to attend the general debate on Baby Loss Awareness Week, in Westminster Hall at the Palace of Westminster, on Tuesday 25th October at 9.30am.

Baby loss is unacceptably common: one in four pregnancies ends in miscarriage and 5,000 wanted pregnancies are terminated for medical reasons every year. 13 babies are stillborn or die shortly after birth every day. This is a sad and painful issue that seems to affect almost every family at some point.

13 babies, like Ronnie, EVERYDAY. That is so much heartbreak.

Please follow the link to support; it costs nothing more than a minute or two.

Thank you

Ronnie is ready for autumn, but im not ready for an autumn without him 🍂🍁🧡

Photos from Remembering Ronnie's post 11/10/2022

On 9th October, we turned pink for the start of baby loss awareness week; and launched part 2 of CrossFit Teesside charity days for the neonatal unit.

Together these days raised £1,500

Sunday was a special day; for a special little girl; Maisie. 11 years after she sadly died.

I didn’t feel brave; but put on a brave face to do my bit for a worthy cause.

Without Maisies Hope we wouldn’t have our handprint necklace, other parents might not get a heartbeat bear; and Ronnie may not have had instant access to the cooling mat he needed (pictured with Ronnie).

Medical equipment gave Ronnie the best chance; and keepsake memories gave us something to take home when we didn’t get to take our baby.

I hope Maisie is looking after Ronnie up there like her mummy and daddy are looking after us down here.

Thank you for your continued support

This song is written about a baby in Neonatal extra care, it’s been in my head since that first journey between the delivery suite and Neonatal unit on 16th June.

The words resonate, and it’s the music I run the fastest too, because I can still feel the urgency and instinct.

The lyrics are parallel to some of our own experiences, except, the baby this song was written about fortunately survived 🤍

Most babies do get to go home from the NICU, it’s so tragic that Ronnie didn’t. But Ronnie’s fundraising helps those babies in both circumstances;

The fundraising support has recently funded the unit a Linear probe, to enable scans the Kidneys/bowels/hips and Lungs. Diagnosing acute lung conditions, or serious bowel conditions in extreme preterm babies, and kidney and hip abnormalities in babies who are not well enough to travel to the Ultrasound department.

Athlete - Wires (lyrics)

“You got wires, going in
You got wires, coming out of your skin
You got tears, making tracks
I got tears, that are scared of the facts
Running, down corridors through, automatic doors
Got to get to you, got to see this through
I see hope is here, in a plastic box
I've seen christmas lights, reflect in your eyes
You got wires, going in
You got wires, coming out of your skin
There's dry blood, on your wrist
Your dry blood on my fingertip
Running, down corridoors through, automatic doors
Got to get to you, got to see this through
First night of your life, curled up on your own
Looking at you now, you would never know”

16 weeks ago today. My baby, snuggled into my chest, his little heart still not out of the fight. I try to touch those little fingers daily like I should still be able to feel him 🤍
I don’t understand how 16 weeks have past, every day is so hard and so long, but some days are worse, and today it really hurts.

Let’s see what part 2 can bring 💪🏼🦋🕊️🤍.

I remember reading Maisie’s story whilst I was pregnant with Ronnie, it was 2 days before I had him, I remember the feelings it brought me, how heartbreakingly sad I thought it was. However, I never thought that it would be me and my baby. No one ever does.

Statistics are only comforting until you become one. Hold your little ones tighter this month, as we enter another season without ours.

A heartfelt thank you to Shelli at LETS RUN
Shelli didn’t just donate these (very bouncy) trainers, she gave her time, her expertise and related her own experience.

The Middlesbrough 10k was so much more than the running. Every step was for Ronnie, and about Ronnie, as is everyday.

The church holds memorial services for the families of those who have loved and lost. This Sunday evening we have been invited to remember Ronnie.
The same church I was christened. The same church Ronnie should have been christened.
I’d rather be sending invites to his christening, but instead I’m inviting you light a candle for Ronnie, Sunday 2nd October at 6pm.
If you can, please share your photos of this 🕯️. We’d love to see a wave of light for our little boy on a special day. It won’t take away the heartache, but it would mean a lot to know he’s on your mind too, like he is on ours, always. 🕯️🤍🕊️
