Fab event yesterday afternoon at the Fundraising Lunch, supporting the wonderful work carried out at our local Nightingale Centre.
Congratulations , on creating your very successful first event as an ambassador for the charity, along with fellow ambassadors Lisa Harper & Victoria Young – you did a great job ladies!
We were welcomed with a glass of fizz, followed by a tasty-three course lunch at the hotel & restaurant. There was then a fab raffle with a lots of prizes, helped along by the entertaining MC, .
As well as the raffle for individual prizes there was an second special raffle to win one of 10 large tote bags containing lots of prizes worth over £70 – one of which I intuitively knew had my name on it when Estelle sold me my ticket! (See what’s inside in my photos)
I enjoyed having my usual browse at Lisa Lekerman’s stylish clothing collection & usually always have a quick catch-up with her. This time it was lovely to also share a table with Lisa & Natacha Diskin over lunch. Natacha shared her colour styling tips while some of the ladies wandered around the tables modelling Lisa’s outfits and from sponsors also gave a talk.

The magic of red shoes... 👠👠
I love my red shoes (every single pair of them!) and clicking your heels together three times while wearing them (à la Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz) can be a fun thing to do - but believe it or not, they’re not actually necessary to access your power...😲
Everyone of us is born with the power to naturally develop happiness, self-belief and success in our own special way. Sadly, that power very often becomes buried under the negative messages we download and experiences we have, as we go through life.
To access the power which is our birthright, we just need to release the untrue limiting beliefs that have been holding us back and weighing us down and replace them with new inspirational, empowering beliefs.
“But how do I do that???” I hear you cry 🤔 Well, you could try clicking your red shoe heels together – although I wouldn’t actually recommend that – or you could learn how to reprogramme your subconscious mind using the very powerful tools & techniques I can share with you to help you do it fast, access your true inner power and create the life you want to live.✨💖💫
Choose to enjoy your life, do what makes you happy! When you’re sending out happiness vibes you automatically attract back more things, people & experiences to be happy about! 💫😁
So many of us spend so much of our time helping others, putting their needs first or trying to please everyone, to the extent that we neglect our own needs, forget who we are and eventually burn out.
If you don’t value & respect yourself and your needs, the chances are that others won’t either and you’ll eventually burn out!
By looking after yourself and caring for your own needs you are giving yourself the message that you matter. You are important. You are worthy.
Self-love is not selfish. Learn how to F.L.Y. – First Love Yourself. Change your mindset and change your life… 💕
Your subconscious mind is 90-95% of your mind, while your conscious mind, the part you use to think, plan and make decisions with, is only 5-10%.
Your subconscious mind stores memories and feelings associated with every experience you’ve had since you were born, as well as the spoken and unspoken childhood messages, beliefs, and behaviours which were passed down to you by the influential adults around you.
Working on your surface issues can help to a degree but until you become aware of what’s at the root of your problems and permanently uproot them, you’ll continue to carry the old negative limiting beliefs that have been stopping you from living the life you want to live.
By uncovering and releasing those unhelpful, untrue and very often damaging beliefs, which remember – you weren’t born with, you can then reprogramme your subconscious mind, transform your mindset, develop a positive mental attitude, heal & grow into… Your Best Possible You!
A lovely afternoon at the Networking Lunch - Navigating the Awards Ceremony today and delighted to finally meet Gulnaz Brennan, the power behind SheInspires- Celebrating Women.
She Inspires is all about empowering women - something I’ve been doing as a therapist & self-empowerment coach for almost 30 years, after first empowering myself! They receive thousands of nominations for their 18 award categories, 6 of them global.
When I recently posted that I was a finalist in my category, I said that I already felt like a winner – and that was the strong message given out to all the finalists, by Gulnaz and the lovely genuine panel of judges at the event today!

So true! The words we say to our children and the way we make them feel – especially in their first few years of learning – can make or break their feelings of self-worth and being ‘good enough’ for life...
Managing your Feelings...
When someone does or says something harsh, critical, or downright mean, to you or about you, how do you manage the way you automatically react and feel?
One of my all-time favourite quotes, from Eleanor Roosevelt, the very wise former First Lady and wife of President Franklin Roosevelt. She famously stated: “No-one can make you feel inadequate without your consent”.
What she’s saying is that your thoughts, feelings, beliefs and reactions are yours and yours alone. No-one has the power to make you feel bad, sad or mad – or even glad! By saying “She made me so angry” or “He really upset me” you’re giving your power away and making yourself feel like a victim. You may have felt angry about what she said, or upset by what he did and your feelings may well be valid – but neither had the power to MAKE you feel that way.
To help my clients move from feeling like a victim to being a victor, I frequently share the following analogy.
Imagine a group of people sitting in a waiting area – perhaps at a doctor’s surgery, or waiting to board a flight. Someone passes through the area and loudly makes a contentious remark. Someone may react to what they heard by feeling really upset and tearful. Someone else may feel incredibly angry. Someone else may laugh to themselves and think “What an idiot!”. Others may hear what’s said but it just goes over their head and they continue reading their magazine, unfazed.
Now the obnoxious individual who made the remark obviously didn’t have the power to create everyone’s individual reactions. Each person reacted, whether emotionally or unemotionally, as a result of their own individual thoughts and feelings about what they heard. We’re all human beings and it’s natural to feel hurt, upset, angry, or fearful when certain things happen – but next time you feel a strong reaction to what someone says or does, instead of giving your power away, pause and ask yourself “What is it in me that led me to react the way I did?”.
No-one is born lacking self-belief, or feeling anxious or angry. Over time we develop our thoughts, beliefs and feelings, as a result of childhood messages and life experiences. We start to compare ourselves to others, we develop impostor syndrome, we form deep rooted limiting beliefs and feelings that we’re ‘not good enough’ and we may feel we need to try hard to please everyone in order to be likeable or acceptable.
These beliefs are then stored in our powerful subconscious minds, the part of our mind that’s likened to a child under 7-years old and the part that we operate from 90-95% of the time. So even if we’ve achieved successes in life and may have many admirers, friends or followers, deep down there’s the small child part of us who can still feel vulnerable – and that’s the part that reacts, automatically and usually irrationally.
When you start to recognise that you were ‘triggered’ or that ‘a button was pressed’ within you, you’re able to do some self-reflection and develop self-awareness. Instead of believing that your happiness & inner peace is at the mercy of what others think, feel, do or say about you, you can take control, own your feelings and do what it takes to heal your inner wounds. Then when something happens that would have previously led you to have a negative reaction and hold onto it, reliving it over and over again, making yourself feel even worse, you can pause, see it for what it is and do what it takes to let it go.
Two facts to remember:
1. Everyone isn’t going to like you, just as you’re not going to like everyone – and that’s OK!
2. When someone is rude, critical or nasty about you or towards you, it says far more about them than it does about you.
And finally, another of my favourite quotes, this time from the great Roman emperor & philosopher Marcus Aurelius, “You have power over your mind, not outside events. Realise this and you will find your strength”.

In a mother’s womb were two babies.
One asked the other: “Do you believe in life after delivery?” The other replied, “Why, of course. There has to be something after delivery. Maybe we are here to prepare ourselves for what we will be later.”
“Nonsense” said the first. “There is no life after delivery. What kind of life would that be?” The second said, “I don’t know, but there will be more light than here. Maybe we will walk with our legs and eat from our mouths. Maybe we will have other senses that we can’t understand now.”
The first replied, “That is absurd. Walking is impossible. And eating with our mouths? Ridiculous! The umbilical cord supplies nutrition and everything we need. But the umbilical cord is so short. Life after delivery is to be logically excluded.”
The second insisted, “Well I think there is something and maybe it’s different than it is here. Maybe we won’t need this physical cord anymore.” The first replied, “Nonsense. And moreover if there is life, then why has no one has ever come back from there? Delivery is the end of life, and in the after-delivery there is nothing but darkness and silence and oblivion. It takes us nowhere.”
“Well, I don’t know,” said the second, “but certainly we will meet Mother and she will take care of us.” The first replied “Mother? You actually believe in Mother? That’s laughable. If Mother exists then where is She now?”
The second said, “She is all around us. We are surrounded by her. We are of Her. It is in Her that we live. Without Her this world would not and could not exist.” Said the first: “Well I don’t see Her, so it is only logical that She doesn’t exist.” #
To which the second replied, “Sometimes, when you’re in silence and you focus and you really listen, you can perceive Her presence, and you can hear Her loving voice, calling down from above.”

❤️ This is why I do what I do… You don’t have to live with anxiety, self-doubt or untrue limiting beliefs, you weren’t born with any such issues.
❤️ Our subconscious minds are programmed at a young age and any negative childhood messages that we receive can lead us to develop untrue beliefs that we’re ‘not good enough’.
❤️ The truth is, we are all born absolutely ‘good enough’, valuable & worthy of love, success & happiness.
❤️ By revisiting the past, becoming aware of those messages & healing our inner child, we can set ourselves free.

🌟 Made a great connection with the lovely Kate (who was sitting next to me but unfortunately had left the table for a few moments when the photo was taken) and had an interesting chat across the table with Becks – and met her pet sheep! 🐑 😄
