Multiple sclerosis is a condition that I’m very familiar with. Sadly, individuals suffering with Primary and secondary MS usually display physical symptoms, however individuals who are diagnosed with relapsing remitting MS usually present with an “invisible illness” to outsiders. The impact emotionally, physiologically, cognitively for all MS sufferers can overwhelm their general well-being and day to day lives. No one knows the cause of MS, but some research suggests that it could be trauma related. Remember, that we can’t always tell what someone is dealing with, whether it’s a neurological condition and/or hidden trauma.

World mental health day 2023 has been going since 1992 and was created to raise awareness about mental health issues, reduce stigma, and invite an openness to discussions about mental well-being. How can we look after ourselves and others in light of this? I was given this self-care card a few years ago (you can see it’s well used!) and it sits on my mantelpiece where I often refer to it as a reminder of ways to check in with myself and take care of my mind, body and soul. Take a look at the positive mental health habits and see how much change you can create in your life. When your mental health is really suffering, it might be hard to see how these habits could benefit you - the thought of it alone might feel exhausting or overwhelming. But how about giving it a go and starting off gently? You could begin with one and then add a new one each week. Nothing will be lost and no harm will come to you by trying. You’ve got this 💪🏼🙏🏼❤️✌🏼
Poor Mental health can feel all-consuming. It can take over. Sometimes, it feels like there is no break from the darkness. As it is World Mental Health Day tomorrow, I would like to share some words below that I feel truly capture the desperation to escape from the storm, and how it can feel when we eventually experience little pockets of sunshine and peace. Breathe in that encouragement to keep going…
“A place of peace,
It’s been an eternity,
At least it’s felt like that,
Seeking that unity.
Wandering, pondering,
Crippled with self-doubt,
This torturous pain,
I crave to live without.
Finally, a moment that’s calm, surreal,
Desperate to last, to prolong, please be real,
Am I missing the moment as I’m already grieving,
The loss of its presence?
I need to keep breathing.” 🙏🏼
Love, hope and compassion to all today 🙏🏼

Hello everyone…
Hi, I'm Jessica. I am an Integrative therapist providing a comprehensive and tailored approach to therapy using a range of techniques and principles to meet the unique needs of each client. I have an MA in counselling and psychotherapy based on person-centred, psychodynamic and gestalt approaches.
I have experience of many mental health illnesses and trauma-related issues, including: alcohol and drug abuse, domestic abuse, sexual abuse and violence, diagnoses, disordered eating, bereavement, depression, anxiety, self-harming, suicidality, and childhood trauma. Given the prevalence of trauma in these areas, I have a deep understanding of the impact of trauma on individuals' mental health and well-being and create a safe and supportive environment to explore and heal from their traumatic experiences.
It's really important to find the right therapist for you, who will make you feel truly understood and held through your times of difficulty. Considering this, I offer a free 30-minute consultation to decide whether I will be a suitable fit for you and your needs. If you're in need of some help, you don't have to do this alone.
I am currently offering online therapy so the service is conveniently accessible to those living outside of Bristol.
