NEW school, new term, NEW beginnings
SO, today is the day for my 10 mile walk to raise funds for a new secondary school in Sierra Leone. Initially we are building 2 classrooms, an office & staffroom & a toilet block.
I'm doing 10 miles to replicate what the Konno Town secondary students currently do EVERY school day - 5 miles each way to attend classes. I wish I was doing it in 2 x 5 mile stints BUT I'm sure it will be fine, despite the heat.
If I pass my Just Giving target (currently at 86%) any surplus will go towards the next Phase of the project - additional classrooms.

It doesn't seem far but, 10 miles is what a lot of the secondary age children in Konno Town, Sierra Leone have to walk every school day to attend lessons!! I am funding the building of a new secondary school in the community, to save them their daily walk, and if anyone is interested in donating please visit https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/alansafrica-konno
I would like to thank The Workwear Company Banbury for donating T-shirts for the walk - greatly appreciated.
