Yoga in Rusthall This Week.
Revitalising Yoga For Spring.
Spring is the perfect time of the year to declutter and to welcome a fresh and new start. If we do that with our homes, why shouldn’t we do the same with our body? This week’s yoga classes are designed to leave you feeling rejuvenated. The focus is on wringing out and massaging the digestive system, while creating a steadiness and presence to remind us to turn inward. We will also explore a series of heart opening poses leaving us rebalanced and energised.
If you like the sound of this then join me for a class 💙
I hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend!

Yoga for Happy Hips - Rusthall Yoga this Week!
Over the last eight years of teaching, I can easily say that a hip opening yoga flow is the number one request from students. So this weeks classes will be all about gently opening the hips whilst also releasing tension and pain in the low back.
Hip opening yoga poses improve circulation, flexibility and range of movement in the hips, legs and back. They are also beneficial for improving posture, strengthening balance, reducing stress, and promoting mental health and overall wellness.

Yoga in Rusthall This Week - Finding Balance and Equanimity.
Equanimity is the ability to face difficult and challenging situations with balance and grace. Responding to your surroundings without losing yourself, to keep your calm and composure amid difficulties.
Developing equanimity doesn’t mean we stop reacting, just that we are more quickly able to return to a steady state - less drawn into the drama of our initial reactions and the thoughts that ensue.
A yoga practice is a perfect playground to explore this theme. It will challenge us, we’ll often react with frustration when something feels difficult or unattainable. But the more we practice the more we’ll be at peace with where we’re at now and the more space we create in both body and mind.
Our yoga practice can create a mindful balance of effort and ease, strength, and surrender.
If you like the sound of that join me for a class!
In today's fast-paced world, many people struggle with stress and anxiety on a daily basis. The demands of work, relationships, and other responsibilities can take a toll on our emotional wellbeing…..However, yoga can be a powerful tool to help us navigate these challenging emotions and find inner peace. **Yoga in Rusthall This Week**
I often mention in class how we can feel so different one week in class compared to the previous one. In our bodies we also observe the differences on how one side of the body feels to the other.
This is a great practice of observation to notice as we discover getting to know our bodies on a much deeper level than we had previously known. I always find it interesting to notice in my own body how different poses feel, particularly in areas like the shoulders and hips. This week we will continue to explore this in class, tuning in to how our bodies feel on a deeper level and tuning into this space.
Yoga in Rusthall has a normal timetable this week and then there will be no classes next week for the Easter holidays. So no classes on Monday 1st (Bank holiday), Tuesday 2nd or Thursday 4th April. We will resume as normal the week after.
Happy Monday Everyone!!

Yoga This Week - Keeping It Simple 🫶 - https://mailchi.mp/f55c3a1e8673/january-term-dates-and-booking-13574248
This week we will be all about bringing a theme of simplicity into our practice. There is often so much noise and activity around our daily lives that setting time aside for our own yoga practice is an ideal opportunity to draw our connection back to the body and breath as we invite our awareness to move back to simply being present.
In the yoga class we are able to give more focus to ourselves. Through our practice we can experience the stillness and peacefulness of a pose and moving the body mindfully with our breath.
Our practice can allow us to appreciate the small things in life such as moving our body, slowing down our breath, having time for ourselves and relaxing.

Happy Weekend Everyone!
Students sometimes ask how they can make yoga a daily habit. Here are a few tips that have helped me.
1. Try to fit in a few minutes when you can. No pressure around a certain length of time. Be realistic about what you can fit in. Perhaps start with 5 minutes a day and build up from there.
2. If you have space, leave out your mat in a place you pass often (it’s so inviting to then step on and take a few postures when you can).
3. Tag your yoga practice onto an ingrained routine. I will always have coffee in the morning so whilst my coffee is brewing I use this time to do 5 minutes of yoga.
4. Rethink what your yoga practice looks like. Does it always have to be about the postures? Taking a few moments to be truly present may set you up for the rest of the day.
5. If you like a schedule, block out yoga time in your diary - you are more likely to do it if you schedule the time with yourself.
6. Don’t beat yourself up if you don’t do it, there is always tomorrow and another day for yoga!
Finding peace in a stressful world.
Deeply relax as your body is supported in longer held yoga poses.
The next three dates of Sunday Afternoon Restorative Yoga are now in the diary: 17th March, 14th April & 9th June 3.30-5.30pm Sunnyside Hall, Rusthall. Spaces are limited to 10 per session.
Restorative yoga is a practice for everyone. If you want to relax your body, release tension and boost wellbeing, it’s for you.
Restorative yoga invites you into deep states of relaxation using yoga props (blankets, bolsters, blocks, eye pillows) to support the body in gentle, passive poses for extended periods of time helping you to slow down, unwind and listen to the body. A truly healing practice.
The benefits of connecting with your relaxation response include:
- Deeper sleep
- Better digestion
- Decreased stress
- Lower cortisol levels
- Less inflammation
- Improved immunity
- Quicker healing responses.
Let me know if you have any questions and to book your place 🙏
*Yoga in Rusthall This Week *
Signs of spring are appearing all around us. There are certain times of year that seem to give us the impetus to make changes in our lives, to renew ourselves. Spring can be one of these times, with so much energy and life bursting through around us. The days start to grow longer and we seem to have more vitality. So it is a great time to renew our yoga practice, to bring to it the energy of spring, to take our awareness to the sense of lengthening and opening.
This week in classes, we explore postures to open the front and back body, and explore mobility in the shoulders. We also look at expanding the thoracic and shoulder blade area both passively and dynamically. And we draw awareness to the power provided by firm foundations, out of which we can fully lengthen and grow.
Happy Sunday. See you next week!
