A little bit of Rav Vast at the @theyogagardenuk I generally play smoothly and gently in my sound baths but there's nothing quite like going for it sometimes!

The introduction of the Native American Flute into my sound baths has been pretty transformational. I absolutely love playing this instrument! Thank you to Nigel Shaw for sharing his knowledge and craftsmanship. I never before dreamed that I would make my own upon Dartmoor with such culturally respectful and insightful teachings. Thank you universe. 🙏❤️✨

I've had a little break from my sound events over the last few weeks to reconnect with the land and remind myself why I do what I do (you know the feeling right?). I have also been focusing on my Photography MA as I had a big deadline where I made a film about my practice. This is a clip from the film! "I often see people walking or running across the hills and barrows of Old Winchester Hill and sometimes it seems they are 'on' and not truly 'in' the landscape. There are times when I also unconsciously behave like this (especially in urban environments), but the act of being more mindfully aware of the sensory experience of place, can be deeply healing. What I am in search of is regaining a sense of reciprocity where I am not consuming experience but sharing. To move with the land and hold the knowledge that the land is also aware of your presence is really powerful. It's like creating a sacred circle around your experience in which both become one."

It's that time of year again! We have five chicks in the nest. I absolutely love watching them, it's better than anything on TV. You learn so much about them and their behaviour in the short time they are with you. Awen Chant of the Druids
Good news to share this Summer Solstice weekend!... I am pleased to share that I have joined the 'Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids' with the first step of this training being the Bardic grade. With my love for our beautiful land and it's ancient traditions, this seems like most natural path for me to follow. In fact, I feel like I have always been a Druid! I am really looking forward to sharing some of my experiences and bringing it's timeless wisdom to my sound practise. Through this short recording of an ancient chant, which is so closely entwined with our native land and seasons, I hope you may connect to the flowing spirit of the time and live in great peace. Awen is a Welsh word and comes from the Welsh stream of Druidic tradition. It is a feminine noun, formed by combining the word aw, meaning 'fluid or flowing’ and en, meaning ‘a living principle, a being, a spirit, essential.’ From this we can consider Awen to mean ‘a fluid essence’ or ‘flowing spirit’. The Druidic name for the Summer Solstice is Alban Hefin, which means the 'The Light of the Shore' or 'Light of Summer'. Over the last couple of days I have had the joy of staying in a yurt at the Sustainability Centre near Petersfield. The short time spent immersed in this beautiful landscape can do wonders for the soul. Over the years I have developed a real love and connection for this land and one of my personal favourite ways of exploring this relationship is through sound. Many years ago I discovered that you could play wind instruments into the hollows of trees. Most effectively I have practiced this with the didgeridoo and Yews. I find that in just the right spot the sound travels through the tree, along the earth and through your body. As you can imagine, this is an experience where you can really feel a resonant connection with the tree you are working with. First you find your spot, then you ask the tree for permission (also check you won't disturb any wildlife). When you start playing you can really feel the vibrations all around and moving through you. I think the reason this works particularly well with Yew trees is their quality of interconnectedness; they naturally connect with one another via an underground network of roots. It's getting a little tight for space in the Blue Tit bird box! Won't be long now until they fly the best. If you have time to watch it until the end, you will see how you fit 6 babies and 2 adults in one box! 💚🐦

Blue Tit chick update! It's now day 16 in their household and the chicks are getting much bigger. Their feathers are forming the distinctive Blue Tit patterns ane colour.
