Karen and Moses
"Moses, a church leader and Life Group pioneer in Katima Mulilo, recently described Life Groups as “learning houses, where people discover their potential”. Moses also spoke at length about the effect the Life Groups have had on his own church, and we learned that they have begun to integrate Dignity’s teaching materials within their services.

It is through these “learning houses” that Karen is taking a stand against witchcraft that has a strong hold on people around the area. We shared her story in December and she continues to believe that the truth people learn in Life Groups will set them free."

Life Groups bring people together to learn how to pray and read the Bible. They learn how to work together for the benefit of others, bringing life and hope to their community.

This month we’re praying for Life Groups to plant out other Life Groups. Some prayer points are:
🙏 That existing Life Groups would have discernment to identify where new groups are needed.
🙏 For God to reveal a clear vision of who should be part of these new Life Groups.
🙏 For boldness to invite and welcome new members into these groups.

😋 One of its most famous dishes is Matapa, made with cassava leaves, which are first pounded and then cooked with onion, garlic and coconut milk. There are variations thorughout the country, which include cooking it with peanuts, beans or seafood, such as crab and prawns.

🔤 While Portuguese is the official language, this country is home to a diverse array of other languages including Makhuwa, Tsonga, Sena, and Shona.

🎶 It has a vibrant music scene with traditional music styles such as Marrabenta, Marimba, and Timbila.

"I want to tell you about a young man named Elijah in the town of Kasese. I spent some time at his school sharing the good news about Jesus Christ, and Elijah accepted the Lord into his life. When he finished at the school, he had an ambition to form a Life Group in his home and, praise God, he has indeed started it. So now we have a new Life Group in Kasese. Given how young he is, I’d like to ask for prayer for Elijah."

Our founder, Jon Paul Witt, recently caught this photo of four housewives chatting at one of our meetings. We love the way that the lady in blue seems to have something very deep and meaningful to say and that everyone is listening with their full attention!

The idea that the ‘church’ is everyone and that anyone can be used by God to reach and love the people around them is very important to Dignity.

The power is in the fact that Jesus works with the poor, those who have no idea, those that are suffering and those that see themselves as nothing. Rather than victims simply to be helped, these people are the ‘mission’ itself. The church is a community of such people and everyone has a place.

Today is the 2nd day of our Big Give Christmas Challenge. Every gift to Dignity this week will be match funded and our target is £12,000 (£24,000 with match funding).

Mr Piri is 99 and a member of a Life Group in Zambia. He's already completed Dignity's Foundations 1 course in his free time and is working his way through Foundations 2, proving that you're never too old to learn.

He loves to share stories from the course with his community, helping them to learn more about how a relationship with God brings change to our lives and the lives of those around us.

‘It's very exciting,’ Sally says. ‘I have enjoyed the experience so much. I’ve never led a study like this before. It's so well done, and the fact that it's in Bemba helps such a lot. I feel like I am an overcomer in Christ, a warrior for Jesus.’

When a man in the community died from a snake bite, Sally Greyvensteyn decided it was time to begin some spiritual warfare. She set up a Life Group with farm workers and they have recently completed all ten studies of Foundations 1: Life Creates.

‘I’ve prayed regularly for the group,’ Sally says. ‘And it’s all been very exciting. Numbers have increased, and people are growing in their knowledge of Jesus. As a result of our prayers and this study, people are being changed. One man was such a drunkard before, and I can clearly see a difference in him now. He hasn’t missed a session since he started coming.’

"Also in the north, in a place called Karonga, I met a guy called Collex who's involved with an agricultural cooperative. He's a Christian who very much wants to try to use that network to lead people to know Jesus more and to deepen their relationship with God."

Joseph & Given from Chilumba, on the side of Lake Malawi, signed up to study Journey. Jon recently had the chance to meet them in person.

"In some ways, it was about helping them establish a small, people-based mission to those parts. We do that by assisting locals to use the Journey resource and to run a ‘school’ with it in the different villages. In this way, the villagers then become missionaries themselves."

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗦𝗢 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗼 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗮𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲!

Together we hit our target of raising £14,000 which will help us reach people like Joseph & Given (pictured). They got in touch with Dignity, wanting to know about Life Groups and using our Village Journey course. We kept in touch with them and Jon made sure to visit them whilst in Malawi where they live.

Jon & Jude Witt were meeting staff and students at YWAM Dzaleka in Malawi yesterday. They were sharing ideas about how we can work together to reach the 56,000 refugees there.

The work of Dignity is not just a process or a set of resources. The movement is at heart a mindset of thinking about people, their lives and what God wants to bring in the varied communities where they live.

This is the kind of stuff we really like doing.

We meet people like Andrew so often. People who think they cannot make a difference. People who have been let down by life and feel they have let those around them down. Today Andrew's life is unrecognisable from before. Together with his friends, he is planting Life Groups around his community and seeing the impact, both in himself and his community. He says he is a changed man and, with his friends, he hopes to start many Life Groups that will bring the hope of Jesus to others as one did for him.
