Jon Witt was reminded of this when he paid a return visit to Mebbin in Senga Hills, Zambia. ‘When you don’t hear anything for a while,’ Jon said, ‘it’s easy to think that there’s nothing to report. The reverse was true. When I visited Mebbin and his wife in their home, I learned that those two Life Groups had become twelve. I was amazed!’ Mebbin had taught himself with Village Journey and as he studied, he had quietly got on with sharing the good news among the people in his community. As new Life Groups were birthed, he suggested that his wife and his friend might also begin setting up meetings, and between the three of them they have overseen this impressive expansion. 'Many people go to church and practice witchcraft. Beer drinking is high and when people start fighting at the beer house they fight to the extent of killing one another in day light they fight with pangas, axes…anything that can kill. This village really needs God.’ The local chief is taking people's land to sell for his own profit. ‘People are losing fields and homes and being moved from places they have lived in for many years,’ Bernard continues. ‘The problem is that no-one is standing up to defend them.’ In this setting, Life Groups have joined together to make a difference. They have gathered for a day of prayer and are speaking to the Chief. Why? The groups’ representative reported that studying Love Your Village had challenged those who had joined these Life Groups. She had a small rental room to stay in Mai Mahiu but, due to the complex challenges she faced, she and her children regularly ended up living and begging on the streets. With the support and care of two Life Groups, Sarah has now broken free from her addiction and is building a new life for herself and her children. 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲: https://dignityonline.org.uk/doubleyourimpact/ Charity's story is marked by loss and tragedy. ‘Whether practically or spiritually,’ Miyambo a local Life Group leader said, ‘it seemed like no-one was able to help her.’ Three Life Groups working together have help Charity meet her day to day needs, overcome some of the challenges she faced and rebuild her home after a fire. ‘This has affected others in the community,’ Miyambo says. ‘Other Christians in Charity’s village were challenged by what they had seen the three Life Groups do.
