The Panama Canal - so we spent the last day of our trip transiting the Panama Canal, a few fun facts :✨ The Panama Canal is one of the engineering wonders of the world✨ The canal links The Atlantic and Pacific Ocean cutting across three isthmus of Panama✨ Locks lift ships 26m above sea-level to The Gatun Lake the largest manmade lake in the world✨ It is 51 miles in length and takes the average ship 11 hours to transit✨ The only place in the world where the captain is not in control of the ship whilst it navigates the locks.It was an awesome experience and not at all what I expected, the scenery was stunning and it was the perfect end to a perfect trip.It was the first time @explorajourneys had taken Explora 1 ship through the canal and we docked at the brand new cruise terminal in Panama which had only been opened a day!One for the memory bank!
