As a yoga teacher, you have to be okay with 'not being everyone's cup of tea'.
I used to try to be all things for everyone, but no one can.
Some people like weak tea, milky tea, or really strong black tea, and some people like sugar in their teaβthe list goes on.
Yoga isn't that different.
My nervous system LOVES quiet instrumentals, pausing throughout a class to slow the breathing down again, having a good wriggle or shake, perhaps the odd long Savasana.
And that's how I teach.
I'll offer options for different levels and challenge what you think you can do.
But it'll be a gentle invitation.
I'll forget to count and get confused between right and left.
I'll wobble and keep my eyes open when I've just invited you to test your balance by closing yours.
I'll give you guidance for poses I can't do myself.
You might love it.
You might hate it.
And that's great; you're finding out what suits you π»
You won't find fun, funky dance music or strong, fast-paced flows with me.
I could try, but other teachers do that better, so I'd rather you had that experience with them.
You deserve to get what you want from your practice.

On Thursday evening, we strolled amongst the vines , pausing in playful joy as we watched a couple of deer ahead of us before unrolling our mats to set the space for our Yoga practice.
Yoga helps us to arrive with who we are and how we are feeling in our world and in our body. As we shared this unravelling with ourselves and together, a circle of trust formed π«
Our practice ended with a gentle meditation, connecting with the nature around us.
With a few yawns and lots of smiles, we slowly gathered our things and made our way down to the restaurant as a new little community...
Asking how each other felt, sharing how we felt, giggling at being so relaxed that we couldn't walk straight, sharing the anticipation of food (and wine - we were all there for the wine!)
Huge thank you to the team at Bolney for allowing us to use your peaceful, beautiful land and taking care of us; preparing delicious charcuterie boards and pouring your wonderful wine.
As the sun set and we admitted that our jumpers weren't quite cosy enough to stay any longer, the evening ended with hugs, number swapping, big smile waves out of car windows and a shared experience that will stay with me (at least) for a very long time.
